  1. Ah, all the little terrors are knocking on my door. No, not trick or treaters, but people demanding I fork over the new prompts. Halloween is two weeks off yet, but some people really want their prompts. Prompt 270 – Creative Tag – First Line “Because, I’m leaving you.” Prompt 271 – Creative Tag – The Murder You had been invited for a vacation, and happy to get away from your daily life quickly took it. Once you were dropped off at the island, you found you were one of only four people there. All of you had been invited, but none of you seemed to know the host, and you all seemed to be stuck with no way off. There was the fully stocked house, a pool, and all sorts of luxuries, but no phone service and no way off till the boat came back. That first day was great until the storm hit, knocking out the power. You went in search of everyone else, the group of you all came upon the body of one of the other guests. Who committed the murder and why? Will you survive to get off the island? Hopefully one or the other will appeal to you. Last week there was just one soul brave enough to take on the challenge of the prompts. The following may not be appropriate for all readers. Let me say his story should raise a few eyebrows (if not other things) and make you laugh as well. I'm speaking of Mr. Savik of course. The original prompt read - College is expensive and when you seen the ad, asking for volunteers to undergo a “totally safe” but “unique” trial of a drug you considered it. You were told if you were selected there would be a huge sum of money with enough zeroes on it to pay for college and more for a few years, so it was a done deal In your head. However, you were so quick to sign you didn’t read the whole contract and now you find that the little trial has some serious side effects. One of which was something no one expected. You are going through the change, but the question is, to what? And here is his answer. So you think you have a different way for that prompt to go? Wanna give it a shot or maybe one of the other two hundred plus ideas? Then go have a look and see what appeals to you and next week your work might be spotlighted here. Last week's prompts can be found here:: For 268 http://www.gayauthors.org/forums/topic/37794-prompt-268-creative/ and for 269 - http://www.gayauthors.org/forums/topic/37795-prompt-269-creative/ So until next week everyone remember to read, write, and review. Enjoy and be safe. - Wayne
  2. Welcome to Friday, and the warmer temps are still here in New York. I am looking forward to the changing leaves and cooler temperatures, but oh well. I don't want to keep you in suspense any longer so here are the prompts. Prompt 266 – Creative Tag – First Line “I don’t care! I still believe in you.” Prompt 267 – Creative Tag – Time Warp You had been watching an old music video from the 80’s, and laughed at the outfits and hair styles. Thinking how easy that time must have been for those living back then, you go to get up from the couch, slip, and knock yourself out. When you wake up, you find yourself dressed differently. When you look outside you suddenly feel sick to your stomach. As you reach for your cell phone you find it isn’t there. On the wall is a calendar that reads 1988. Somehow you are stuck in the past. What do you do? After last week's screw up, there were four prompts for people to choose from. Choices were varied, but I did get a few takers. One of my favorites was the one about changes. Prompt 264 read - It is the beginning of fall and the temperatures are beginning to change, the leaves are changing color, and the moods of people are changing as well. Create a story centered around the idea of change – whether it is physical, mental, or maybe even a change of location. Did you enjoy it? Wanna know how it ends? You can find it here - http://www.gayauthors.org/forums/topic/37728-prompt-264-creative/ The list of words prompt can be found here which includes Kitt's take on this one - http://www.gayauthors.org/forums/topic/37729-prompt-265-creative/ So go read, review, and write. Enjoy this weekend and see what inspires you to put pen to paper or fingertips to keyboard. Till next time. - Wayne
  3. Oh, it is that time of the week again. Yes, I get to see if I can succeed in luring someone to pick up my challenge and write a new prompt tale. Interested? Well, let me show you what I have up my sleeve this week. Prompt 264 – Creative Tag – Fall It is the beginning of fall and the temperatures are beginning to change, the leaves are changing color, and the moods of people are changing as well. Create a story centered around the idea of change – whether it is physical, mental, or maybe even a change of location. Prompt 265 – Creative Tag – List of Words Use the following words in a story – duct tape, broken toy, pizza pie, ice cube, and a laptop computer. Well did one of those catch your attention? Do you feel the need to write? Don't let me stop you, go to it and then share it on the prompt pages so everyone can enjoy. Speaking of enjoying, I had hoped to post ones for last week's prompts. Of course, having had a bad day I forgot to actually create a page for them. Evidently no one wanted them because no one commented the pages were missing. ( ) Oh well. However we did have people who worked on the prompts from a few months ago. I really enjoyed one of them so I'm sharing it with everyone now. The original prompt read - You finally have found the perfect mate. Someone who listens to you, shares your tastes in music and art, loves your movies. However they have just one small flaw. What is it? Never Surrender took that prompt and made it her own. Is that how she ended it? Of course not, but I want to make sure you go back to read it. The story, in its completed form, can be located here - http://www.gayauthors.org/forums/topic/36897-prompt-226-creative/ So until next week, ladies and gentlemen, please remember to read, comment, and share your favorite stories with others. Till next time. - Wayne
  4. Oh dear, it is Friday again and I'm a bit late getting this up. I'm sorry one and all. This is what happens when you work a weird work schedule in retail. It has been two weeks since I could offer you a new prompt. I hope everyone enjoyed the anthology that went live last week, but I shouldn't just keep rambling should I? I won't hold you up any longer so let's get right to the prompts. Prompt 262 – Creative Tag – Friday the 13th It is that time of the year again, and it is Friday the Thirteenth. Is this a good day or a bad day? Prompt 263 – Creative Tag - First Line “And you thought not telling me would be better than the truth?” We had a number of entries for the last round of prompts. That is the thing about them, you never know what the prompt is going to evoke in the author who chooses to pick up and write it. Some become comedies, other horror, but occasionally you get one that is sort of a mystery. Case in point, Dolores Esteban took a shot at the list of words prompt and began this story that she named Rose Garden. So what do you think? Want to read more? Of course you do, who doesn't like to know the ending of a story? You can find Dolores' story and many others that attempted prompt 260 here - http://www.gayauthors.org/forums/topic/37599-prompt-260/#entry433417 For those who want to see what can happen with a changeling check out the response to prompt 261 here - http://www.gayauthors.org/forums/topic/37600-prompt-261-creative/ Remember if haven't read the anthology yet give it a look over. There were a lot of great stories. They can be found here - http://www.gayauthors.org/stories/category/66 So please remember to read, comment, and let everyone know what you enjoyed. Till next time. - Wayne
  5. The kids are back to school, there is a slight nip to the air, and we are barely finished with the first week of September. Guess that means I have new victims, um, I mean volunteers for the new prompts. As usual I hope I have something fresh and tempting to get you to write again. Prompt 260 – Creative Tag – list of words Use the following words in a story – plane ticket, watch, broken shoe, flash light, nude statue Prompt 261 – Creative Tag – The Changeling One look and you knew the child wasn’t the same one the parents had left the hospital with. How do you explain to the two worried parents that their child isn’t really sick, but that the iron cross that they put on to protect the child is killing it, and that their baby isn’t the one they are crying over. Cursed as you are to see all of reality for what it really is, how do you tell them that their beloved child is a changeling? It seems that there are three authors who just seem to attempt the prompts regularly lately, for which I am eternally grateful. This time the prompt story chosen dealt with the author using the first line - “So you decided to tell me that now?” We had two authors attempt it and both went for weddings, but Kitt had a more comedic take on it which sort of reminded me of some weddings I've been to. Curious? Well here is part of Kitt's story, Two Weddings and a Nervous Breakdown. So would you like to know how it ends? Of course you do. You can find the end of Kitt's and Sasha Distan's take on this prompt here - http://www.gayauthors.org/forums/topic/37570-prompt-258-creative/ The attempts at the other prompt last week can be found here - http://www.gayauthors.org/forums/topic/37571-prompt-259-creative/ Remember - All entries for the Fall Anthology - Pandora's Box are due by September 8th. If you are still working on yours, hurry! In the meantime remember to read, write, and review. Have a good week everyone. - Wayne
  6. Yeah I know it says Trebs but this is actually comicfan. Trebs needed to get this done and set it up before I could, so I am taking it back. Yes August is nearly a memory but the month isn't over yet. I still have time to tempt you with some new prompts. So with no further ado, here they are. Prompt 258 – Creative Tag – First Line “So you decide to tell me that now!” Prompt 259 – Creative Tag – Last Goodbye The tests are conclusive. You have only six months till you go into space on a twenty year mission. It is top secret and you don’t know if you will see any of your family or friends again as this mission is an attempt to save the earth. How do you go about saying your last goodbyes? Last week there were a few takers for the prompts. Totally attempted one of them, and while he didn't strictly adhere to the prompt the story is so worth the read. The original prompt was - It has been years since you have even thought about your first love. However they were on the news today and before you had a chance to find out why there is a knock on your front door. As you answer you find yourself face to face with them. What brought about this encounter? Did it catch your attention? Do you want to read more? The rest of Totally's story can be found by going here - http://www.gayauthors.org/forums/topic/37534-prompt-257-creative/ Want to see the other response to last week's prompt? See it here - http://www.gayauthors.org/forums/topic/37533-prompt-256-creative/ Don't forget there is just over a week for you to finish an entry in the Fall Anthology - Pandora's Box is the theme. Otherwise just remember to read, write, and review. Have a great week everyone. - Wayne
  7. Uh oh, is it Friday already? Where did the week go? I swear I was, well, never mind. So here we are again ladies and gents about to face another weekend. Some of us just keep right on going about our lives while others are preparing for school or have just returned. Before everyone is overwhelmed, well, I have a few things for you to look over and consider. Might you have time to write one more little story? It is prompt time. Prompt 256 – Creative Tag - List of Words Use the following in a story – apple tree, broken fence, horse, phone, and a doctor. Prompt 257 – Creative Tag – Encounter It has been years since you have even thought about your first love. However they were on the news today and before you had a chance to find out why there is a knock on your front door. As you answer you find yourself face to face with them. What brought about this encounter? Last week we had takers for both prompts and someone even went back to dig out one of the older prompts and did a good job with it as well. However, I was touched by Sasha Distan's take on prompt 254. The original prompt asked you to use the first line "Since when is that acceptable?” Now you know there is more to the story and I'm sure you want to read it. You can find Sasha's story and a lot more here - http://www.gayauthors.org/forums/topic/37497-prompt-254-creative/ Our other prompt from last week had a number of attempts as well and they can be found here - http://www.gayauthors.org/forums/topic/37498-prompt-255-creative/ Don't forget to read, review, and let the authors know what you liked about their work. If you are feeling that you have grown and are ready to join the bigger writing crowd don't forget the Fall Anthology. The subject is Pandora's Box and has to be submitted by the 8th. So get cracking and create something wonderful for us all to read. Till next week everyone, enjoy.
  8. It's that time again. Time for me to torture, I mean um, tease you with some new ideas for prompts. Prompt 254 – Creative Tag – First Line “Since when is that acceptable?” Prompt 255 - Creative Tag – Kidnapped It is everyone’s worst nightmare. You have gone on vacation and decide to go out and see this new place at night. While you are busy looking in the windows and seeing the people move from place to place, someone has been following you. After a wonderful meal at a nice place, you stop to go to the bathroom and as you go to leave you feel someone grab you and before you can move you slip into unconsciousness. When you awake you realize you are tied up and have been kidnapped. Why have you been targeted? Last week was a busy week with many writers taking a chance and trying the prompts. Perhaps one of the most emotional was done by Totally. The prompt originally read - As you sit down to finish getting ready on the day of your wedding your parents come in. Your father looks nervous and your mother is just totally distraught, but they tell you they really need to tell you something before you are married. Figuring they are just worried about your wedding, you’re shocked when they sit and begin to tell you something they have kept secret from you your whole life. First they admit they aren’t your parents but the bigger secret is …. What? There is much more to this story. So go give it a read. You can find it here - http://www.gayauthors.org/forums/topic/37446-prompt-253-creative/#entry428882 Our other prompt stories from last week can be found here - http://www.gayauthors.org/forums/topic/37445-prompt-252-creative/ So what did you think of the stories written by our authors? Love them, hate them, want to write one? Please leave a review for our authors. Remember to read, write, and review. Till next Friday, enjoy one and all. PS - If you enjoy writing prompts try the anthology that is coming up next month. You have time to get your entry in.
  9. Ah, another week nearly complete. That means it is Friday, Ladies and Gentlemen. Of course that means I have something new to try and tempt you with. Prompt 252 – Creative Tag – List of Words Use the following words in a story: graveyard, swing, tuba, blue shoes, and a lunch box. Prompt 253 – Creative Tag – The Secret As you sit down to finish getting ready on the day of your wedding your parents come in. What? Every week I attempt to come up with something new. Sometimes the ideas are inspired by things in my life and sometimes by something I see. Last week was a prompt that sort of combined a vampire book I was reading and show on tv where the woman was complaining about her date being sick during the middle of dinner. I combined the two and hoped someone would be willing to take on the challenge. With the authors on this site, there is always someone up to taking on a challenge. Last week the prompt originally read - The night had been a total disaster. The blind date you had been set up on, threw up half way through the meal all over you. Now as you walk home there is a massive amount of noise coming from the street you need to take to get home. As you turn the corner you see something you never thought you would. Before you are two vampires, fangs and claws flashing as they fight each other, whose mere existence was something you never expected. As the claws slash and the blood flies, you realize they are real and they are moving ever closer to your location. What are you going to do? Now Mann took up the challenge and decided not only to write it but camp it up too. Read on gentle reader, and hold onto your funny bone while you do. The rest of Mann's story can be found here - http://www.gayauthors.org/forums/topic/37406-prompt-251-creative/ The other prompt from last week also had a few takers and can be found here - http://www.gayauthors.org/forums/topic/37405-prompt-250-creative/ As well as another author adding to the prompt on 246 which can be found here - http://www.gayauthors.org/forums/topic/37326-prompt-246-creative/ So what about you? Did you see a prompt that made you want to write. Well, if so what are you waiting for? We would all love to read it. Till next week everyone, remember to read, review, and enjoy.
  10. Hello there again everyone. Well, so far so good. Found more victims, errr, I mean more excited authors who wanted to attempt my crazy prompts. Considering it is Friday again, dear reader, I have new prompts for you. So without further ado, here are this week's prompts to tease and excite you. Prompt 250 – Creative Tag – First Line “Here we go again!” Prompt 251 – Creative Tag – They’re Real The night had been a total disaster. Last week we again had a few people who took up the gauntlet and took a shot at the prompts.Totally gave us a brand new fairy tale that left me thinking it was a cross between Sleeping Beauty and Cinderella, but with an all male cast. He took a shot at prompt 248 which read - yse the following words in a story: roses, rain storm, deer, cake, and chapel. Here is part of his take on it. There is a lot more to this story as well as a few other attempts at this one and they can be found here - http://www.gayauthors.org/forums/topic/37363-prompt-248-creative/ While no one took a shot at the other prompt, there was a new taker for the prompt 247 and can be read here - http://www.gayauthors.org/forums/topic/37327-prompt-247-creative/ So those are the prompts this week. Can't wait to see what people do with them. Till next time, read, review, and enjoy.
  11. Ah it is that time of the week again, and no I don't mean bath time. Friday is once again upon us and I get to see who will take the bait, I mean, take the opportunity to write a new story based off the prompts. Let me see who can be tempted. Prompt 248 – Creative Tag – List of Words Use the following words in a story: roses, rain storm, deer, cake, and chapel. Prompt 249 – Creative Tag – Shifter You have fallen in love and everything seems perfect. Your father sees you, seems to smell the air, and immediately sits you down. As he begins his talk about the birds and the bees and having sex, he also mentions that you aren’t a normal human being, but a shifter and a very special one at that. In fact, when you shift, the person you are with at the time is who you will mate with for life and they will be granted very special abilities. That is, if they too are a shifter. Does this alter your planned night with your love or not? Looking back at last week, there were a few people who once again took the plunge and wrote out some interesting stories based off the prompts. However I am a sucker for when someone personifies an action in a story. Myiege did just that by bringing the idea of death to life in her story. The original prompt read as follows - You have been found to have a very rare heart condition. You have been informed that you must stay calm and on very strong medication to keep your heart rate down. There are many restrictions on what you can or can’t do, but there is one that you can’t abide by. You have been told that if you have sex, even once, it will kill you and be the end. Do you stay safe or decide sex is worth the end? Intrigued? Want to read more? Of course you do. You can see both of her responses to the topic here - http://www.gayauthors.org/forums/topic/37327-prompt-247-creative/ The other prompt also got some attention and can be found here - http://www.gayauthors.org/forums/topic/37326-prompt-246-creative/ So, did either of this week's prompts appeal to you? If so why not write a tale and share it on the prompt page. Maybe these didn't but one of the other 249 other prompts did, so give one of them a try. In the meantime remember to keep writing, reviewing, and enjoying all the site has to offer. Till next week, have fun one and all.
  12. Well here we are at Friday again. Hope everyone has had a good week. Time to give you all something new to consider. You can share your responses with the community in the Writing Prompts forum! Prompt 246 – Creative Tag – First Line “What now?” Prompt 247 – Creative Tag – The End You have been found to have a very rare heart condition. Last week's prompts seemed to draw lots of attention. From the Zombie Apocalypse to the list words, both sets were fairly active. Some of them were fun, some were serious, and some, well they just have to be read to be believed. I am always amazed at what an author can do with the prompts. However, each week I try to pick out something a little different to spotlight. Daithi gave a very short, but very emotional response to the list of words prompt. The prompt asked you to use the following words in a story – engagement party, clown, toilet paper, magnolia tree, and cowboy boots. You can find other takes on this prompt here - http://www.gayauthors.org/forums/topic/37284-prompt-245-creative/ The Zombie prompt had plenty of takers too and can be found here - http://www.gayauthors.org/forums/topic/37283-prompt-244-creative/ Enjoy your week. Remember to keep reading, writing, and reviewing. Have fun all.
  13. Well it is that time of the week again, prompt time! So who is ready for a new challenge? Prompt 244 – Creative Tag – Zombie Apocalypse It has finally happened, zombies have risen and are attacking. Is this like Shaun of the Dead or are your Zombies more vicious. Tell us all about the apocalypse. Prompt 245 – Creative Tag – List of Words Use the following words in a story – engagement party, clown, toilet paper, magnolia tree, and cowboy boots Last week only one of the two prompts drew any attention. There were two attempts at prompt 243 and both were vastly different. Here is a sample of Kitt's take on the first line prompt "I never make a promise I don't intend to keep." So want to see what else Kitt did with this? Of course you do. So check it and the other attempt out here - http://www.gayauthors.org/forums/topic/37246-prompt-243-creative/ Enjoy your week everyone and remember to keep writing and reviewing.
  14. It's Friday, Friday, Friday. Oh it's Friday and that means new prompts for all of you. Hopefully you have all had a good week. Well not to keep you in suspense any longer here are this weeks prompts. Prompt 242 – Creative Tag – The Prize Your favorite author and artist ran a contest to have the winner become a character in their comic strip. You won, so what is the comic strip about and what is your character going to do in it? Prompt 243 – Creative Tag – First Line “I never make a promise that I don’t intend to keep.” Hopefully one or the other will catch your attention and make you want to write. Last week there seemed to be a lot of commentary as the two topics were both written about. Now while there were some really interesting takes on the topics, I couldn't help but notice Andy's story. I thought it was really creepy. What do you think? . There is more to his story which you can find on the by going to the prompt here - http://www.gayauthors.org/forums/topic/37208-prompt-241-creative/ While you check out that prompt you might want to read the responses to other one from last week which can be found here - http://www.gayauthors.org/forums/topic/37207-prompt-240-creative/ Enjoy and keep writing and commenting.
  15. Ah another Friday has arrived and you all know what that means ... I get to torture you with a new set of ideas to get you writing. Every week is a surprise and I never know when someone is going to take up the challenge and post one of the prompts. Last week, Kitt didn't even bother to post her tale in the thread for it but put it right up on the Prompt Me! page. Okay enough chatter out of me, here are this weeks prompts. Prompt 240 – Creative Tag – List of Words Use the following words in story – a present, a gold ring, a taxi driver, a new novel, and a pretzel. Prompt 241 – Creative Tag – The Toy Store You just became the manager of a toy store. What sort of toys does your store stock and what are your customers like? Every week I like to look at what was done on the prompts and this week is no different. Mann Ramblings let us see what is going to be part of an ongoing story. I was struck by the characters he was introducing and thought everyone should get a peek at it. To see the rest of Mann's story and what some of our other authors have come up with feel free to go and read their work. It can be found here - http://www.gayauthors.org/forums/topic/37160-prompt-239-creative/ . Don't forget to leave them a comment or two to help encourage them as well. Have a good week everyone and don't forget to write.
  16. I'm back! Did you miss me? Last week the prompts were interrupted by our Roll The Dice Anthology going live. I do hope you took the time to read them all and leave the authors a review. Anyway I have some nice new ideas to get your mind going and hopefully find you writing again. So for your writing possibilities I present these two new ideas. Prompt 238 - Creative Tag - The Offer You haven't been on a date in months and truthfully, you've let work take over your life. Then out of left field your co-worker asks you out. However, it isn't a normal date they want. What is the offer they are making to you? Prompt 239 - Creative Tag - First Line "Just give me a minute, please." So hopefully one or the other of these might appeal to you. Curious what others have done? Well if we look at the last set of prompts there were a few authors who picked up the gauntlet and created some interesting answers to the prompts. We had a new author attempt the prompts by the name of Kitt. Let me show you what Kitt created. So are you curious to what else Kitt had to say? I hope so. You can read the rest of her story and the rest of the authors who decided to use this prompt here - http://www.gayauthors.org/forums/topic/37104-prompt-236-creative/ You can read the responses to prompt 237 here - http://www.gayauthors.org/forums/topic/37106-prompt-237-creative/ Have a good week everyone and hope to see your response here next.
  17. Andrea is making her way up the coast and I'm hoping everyone stays safe and dry. Seems the weather world wide is a bit off lately. Well, only so much I can do other than wishing everyone a happy Friday. I trust everyone had a good week and that you are excited to see the new prompts being offered. Don't let me keep you in suspense any longer. Prompt 236 – Creative Tag – First Line “I have to have a talk with your mother.” Prompt 237 – Creative Tag – The Bird A strange looking bird keeps sitting outside your bedroom window and sings loudly each morning. You finally looked it up and can’t find it anywhere online. What is the bird and what does it want with you? So that is this week's new prompt choices. Do either of them appeal to you? If so why not try writing a story and letting us see what you come up with. Last week we had only one reply to the prompts, but it seems an earlier one got a little more attention from our budding writer Joann414. This time she not only took aim at her regulars, but I seem to be making an unusual appearance. Never let it be said, I don't have a sense of humor. Wanna see what else Joann had to say about me, KC, and herself? Of course you do! So go read and leave her a comment. Her prompt response can be found here - http://www.gayauthors.org/forums/topic/37030-prompt-233-creative/ Wanna another look at last weeks topics? http://www.gayauthors.org/forums/topic/37066-prompt-234-creative/ and http://www.gayauthors.org/forums/topic/37067-prompt-235-creative/ Till it is time to prompt you again - stay safe and enjoy your week everyone.
  18. Friday, Thank God .... well it is Friday so that means it is time for the prompts again. Hope everyone has had a great week so far. Time for me see what sort of draw I can get with this week's choices for writing prompts. Take a gander and see if either of them appeal to you. Prompt 234 – Creative Tag – Insomnia After four long days of non-sleep you are beginning to feel like you are going to lose it. When you look out your window and see your neighbor slide what looks like a mask of their face over a deformed one you think your insomnia is driving you crazy. The question is, did your mind make up what you thought you saw or was it reality? Prompt 235 - Creative Tag – List of Words Use the following words in a story – lost love letter, a man’s watch, one red shoe, a slice of pizza, and a banana peel. Then of course there are the responses to last week's prompts. Yes there were a few who took the plunge and decided to give the site a taste of what they can do. Among the plethora of entries was one that caught my eye for prompt 233. PMDacey decided to give that prompt a shot and I really enjoyed it. Read on and see what you think. So did it capture your attention? Do you want to know what else is there? I hope you do. Go give it read and comment for the author. If you like it don't forget to hit that button for him. You can find it here : http://www.gayauthors.org/forums/topic/37030-prompt-233-creative/ So who will be featured next week? Well it could be you. Hopefully one of this week's prompts tickles your fancy and you sit down to write us a little piece of perfection. Till next week everyone, enjoy and have fun.
  19. Hello! It is Friday again so it is time for another round of prompts. As usual, I have something new to tease you with and see what sort of replies we get. Without further ado, here are this week's prompts. Prompt 232 – Creative Tag – The Project You have been asked to help out on the community project. It is to help build something that will go a long way to helping your community understand each other and offer safety to those needing it. What is the community project? Prompt 233 – Creative Tag - First Line “Somehow, I just never expected this.” Last week we had responses to both prompts, which always makes me happy. However, Joann414 is usually better known for her reviews and encouragement rather than her own writing. She has been a regular contributor though to the Prompts and this week is no different. If you haven't seen the prompt writings of K.C., CassieQ, Joann414, or Mark92 - well I call them the Funny Four, then you have been missing out on the fun. They love including each other in wild stories that will go almost anywhere. Case in point is Prompt 230 which asked the writer to use the first line of “I never said this wasn’t going to hurt.” Do you want to know what else Innocent Joann had to write? Then check it out here - http://www.gayauthors.org/forums/topic/36997-prompt-230-creative/ Don't forget to leave her a comment and if you enjoy it, like it to encourage her to keep writing. Also check out prompt 231 to see what other members had in response and leave them a little love too. That prompt can be found here - http://www.gayauthors.org/forums/topic/36998-prompt-231-creative/ Enjoy your weekend one and all.
  20. Well it is Friday again, looks around, and I seem to be able to steal the spotlight for the moment. Since I managed to slip in again I get to pick what is featured as well as introduce this week's prompts. So let me see if I can entice anyone with this week's offerings. Prompt 230 – Creative Tag – First Line “I never said this wasn’t going to hurt.” Prompt 231 – Creative Tag – List of Words Use the following words in a story: silk tie, dog toy, chain, bubble bath, and leather gloves. I hope someone finds a little inspiration in one of them and decides to show us their take on it. Now two weeks ago, yes we had to deal with that nasty business last week, I managed to find some takers for both of the prompts. However James Savik really took off with prompt 229, which was : You entered into a contest and have won the chance to spend the day with your favorite star. Who is it and what do you do? And here is just a snippet of his story so far. James has a lot more of the story up. Want to read it? Of course you do! Read and leave him a comment here on the prompt page http://www.gayauthors.org/forums/topic/36938-prompt-229-creative/ Of course you might be interested to know someone also did Prompt 228 so go read that too. http://www.gayauthors.org/forums/topic/36937-prompt-228-creative/ Hopefully next week we might get a chance to read something new from you. Enjoy your weekend everyone.
  21. Well it is Friday again and I thought I would slip in for a change and actually introduce the prompts myself. I guess after a hundred plus attempts to catch an author's attention this might help. You know, like anyone else I enjoy reading what others have done with the prompts. For our experts this is a just a chance to flex those writing muscles, and for the newbie it is simply a chance to get some feedback on something you wrote. These can be flash fiction pieces, poetry, or whatever you decide to do with the topic. Okay, enough of me begging and pleading for you to write. Time to show you what I have up my sleeve for you this week. Prompt 228 – Creative Tag – The Gamble You have won a trip to Las Vegas. Everything is going well, until your partner loses everything you both own on the poker table. You have one chance to win it all back, but if you lose you could very well lose your soul. Are you up for the gamble? Prompt 229 – Creative Tag – The Star You entered into a contest and have won the chance to spend the day with your favorite star. Who is it and what do you do? Do either of them appeal to you? Last week I didn't seem to have any takers for the topics. However we did have someone who went way back to find a topic they liked. Renee Stevens, usually a little busy with the blog, found time to dig out prompt 75. The original prompt asks you to use the first line "Please," he begged. "Can I have this one?" Wanna see what she did with it? Of course you do! Do you want to know what happened next? Then go read the full story here : https://www.gayauthors.org/story/renee-stevens/lineofsight/1 Here is hoping one of these prompts inspire you to write something. Thanks for reading.
  22. Thank you once again to Comicfan for providing a couple of new prompts for you to take a shot at. Make sure you share in the Writing Prompt Forum! Prompt 226 – Creative Tag – The Lover You finally have found the perfect mate. Someone who listens to you, shares your tastes in music and art, loves your movies. However they have just one small flaw. What is it? Prompt 227 – Creative Tag – List of Words Use the following words in a story: cane, pillow, car, medicine, and toilet paper. Since no one took a stab at last weeks prompts, we're going to visit a response to prompt #224 by Dolores Esteban called.... Stabbed. Want more? Finish reading it here and leave a review for Dolores!
  23. I've talked about our GayAuthors.org community many times, but I have to say, in seeing some recent comments and posts - I am once again just so privileged to be a part of GA. A few years ago, when Myr asked me to be the Member Advocate and among other tasks, help support and foster the community here, I immediately said yes and have had no regrets since. One of the great ways I see the community coming together is weekly here with our Friday writing prompts, courtesy of the great Comicfan. I have seen new members, barely on a few months or so with few posts to their name yet, see one of these prompts and take the plunge and try to write a short piece themselves. Or they read the pieces that other post in the Writing Prompts forum, and comment and review on them - again, providing that support and necessary feedback. So - a heartfelt thank you to Comicfan and to all of you who, our GA community, who may be reading this. This week's great prompts are: Prompt 224 – Challenge Tag – The Mystery Create your own mystery story. The only thing that must be included is a clue must be a blood red ruby. Prompt 225 – Creative Tag – Magic You just turned eighteen and your mother has come to tell you a terrible secret. You were born with magic. What you do with it will determine the outcome for everyone for the next one hundred years. What is the secret of your magic? Last week, one of the prompts, #223, read "You were on your way home, arms loaded down with your groceries when you were attacked. The men who attacked you made no secret of the fact that they intended to kill you. Suddenly, from the dark a large creature came forward, destroying them and saving your life. What is this beast that saved your life?" The ink was barely dry on the prompt post when Mann Ramblings already posted his take Shawn awoke as he lay unmoving in the filthy dark alley. Rank water and dirt stained the side of his face as his body ignored all attempts to raise itself from the ground. It wasn't surprising his body wouldn't cooperate. The pain spiking through so many places was making it hard to stay awake, let alone move. Groggily, his eyes were open and functioning even if the rest of him was not. The groceries he was carrying were strewn about the ground, the broken eggs picking off a faint glimmer from the small amount of moonlight that peaked between the buildings. When he was pulled into the alley he recognized the three men. They were part of the vocal group protesting the LGBT center that had just opened. Shawn had told them all to fuck off before and after the police arrived to break up the group as it began to get out of control. He was not about to be bullied by a bunch of homophobes. They had waited for him. Shawn could smell the overpowering stench of liquor on the trio even before the first blow struck. It dropped him to the ground and they took full advantage, cursing and battering him until he prayed they would just kill him and end it all. Someone above took mercy on him and made his consciousness finally blink out. Now that he was awake, Shawn struggled to look around and assess the situation. He couldn't focus well or see far, it was simply too dark, but there was a figure crouched over another not far from him. The figure stood and with a single hand pulled the other from the ground. He seemed so huge. An animal like growl sent a chill through Shawn as the limp man was shook like a rag doll and slammed into the brick wall with an effortless toss. “Common garbage,” he growled. The voice sounded almost inhuman, but that could have been the swaying senses Shawn was dealing with. The body on the ground caught a sliver of moonlight. Shawn could recognize the gaudy tee-shirt worn by one of the trio. It was spattered in blood and he didn't appear to be breathing. Even with all of the pain coursing, Shawn could feel the touch of hands drawing up his prone leg. Fear skittered his spine like insects as he could hear the distinctive sound of being sniffed. The standing figured whirled and ran towards him. Shawn wanted to scream but the sound gurgled in his throat. The figure kicked out and with a grunt and a fleshy impact, the weight at his legs was suddenly gone. “Don't touch him!” the figure snarled. COOL - huh? Oh, want more? He posted a bit more and here is the rest! Enjoy!
  24. One of the things I personally love about the weekly blog is the Prompt Me that debuts every Friday. Comicfan always manages to come up with something that sounds quite interesting and this week is no exception. If you tackle either of these prompts why not share them with everyone else by posting them in the Writing Prompt Forum! Prompt 164 – Creative Tag – The Stranger They showed up out of nowhere and seem to know everything about your life. Your friends and the rest of your family readily accept them, but all they do is make you nervous. Who is this stranger and why do they know so much about you? Prompt 165 – Creative Tag – Extinct You’ve seen the movies where scientists screw up and try to bring back something that was extinct and cause all sorts of trouble. Well evidently they didn’t and decided they would try with something that couldn’t possibly be problematic. What did the scientists bring back into existence? Now, as everyone knows, we share a past prompt response. I thought it might be kind of interesting to look at something that was written exactly one year ago from today. I went searching and found a prompt written by Admin/Hosted Author/WST Deputy Lead/and much much more: Cia. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did! She wrote this in response to prompt #61: Everyone knows the story of E. Scrooge and the ghosts of Christmas. Your task is to create a new character dealing with the Spirit of any other holiday.
