  1. It's Friday again!!! I hope that everyone has had a great week so far. It's that time again for two new prompts, supplied as always by our prompt guru, Comicfan! *Reminder: Authors are more than welcome to post their Prompt Responses in GA Stories, but please remember that flash pieces under 1k must be posted in collections, not as individual stories.* Prompt 330 – Creative Tag – List of Words Use the following words in a story – puppy, circus, clown, underwear, and toilet paper. Prompt 331 – Creative Tag – Technology You have just discovered the horrifying secret. The technology you have been working on to make life simpler for mankind is actually going to be used to enslave them. Your managers aren’t human and you have been used as a pawn. What is going to happen and can you prevent it? It's always hard to choose what response to feature, but this week I chose Cole Matthews response to Prompt #328: Want to find out what happens? Read the rest here! As always... Read, Write, and REVIEW!!!
  2. It's hard to believe that May is already over! Just as a reminder, you've only got a few more days to get your Anthology entries into the Anthology Proof Team. I hope to see lots of last minute entries! Now that it's Friday again, it's time for our dose of weekly prompts, provided by none other than Comicfan. I hope one of them helps to spark an idea! *Reminder: We welcome you posting your Prompt Responses in GA Stories. However, please remember to post your flash pieces under 1k in a collection, per the site posting rules.* Prompt 328 – Creative Tag – First Line “You expect me to believe that?” Prompt 329 – Creative Tag – Zombies Having watched movies and television shows based on zombies you figured you would be prepared if they ever dared to shamble in your direction. The problem is no one was ready for the meteorites that slammed into the earth this year. For hundreds of miles surrounding the crash sites a brand new type of zombie was created, from the new born baby to the oldest citizen, all were converted and now they are after all the rest of the world. What are these new zombies like and what do they want? Unless I missed it, I only seen on taker for last week's prompts. Here's Valkyrie71's response to Prompt #327: To read the rest, click here. Don't forget... Read, Write, and REVIEW!!!
  3. It's Friday again and you know what that means, it's time for a couple of new prompts from the prompt guru, Comicfan. Don't forget to share your prompts in the Prompt Forum, you never know, yours could be featured in the blog next week. I won't keep you waiting any longer, let's see what Comicfan has for us this week! Prompt 326 – Creative Tag – Family Announcement Family get togethers were never your thing. However you found yourself without an excuse to miss this one. Once you are there however you are in for a major surprise. There is a big family announcement. What is it? Prompt 327 – Creative Tag – Bloodsucker He was a lawyer and most of your friends referred to him as a bloodsucker. He seemed to run after the ambulances and encourage people to sue, but then he met Vincent and work took a back seat for him. Vincent was dark, broody, and made everyone, male or female, just seem to want to be at his side, but most seemed to disappear once they did. Your lawyer friend is changing and you wonder is becoming a real bloodsucker. What do you do? There were only a couple of takers last week and I decided to feature Valkyrie71's response to Prompt #325, enjoy! To read the rest, click here. As always... Read, Write, and REVIEW!
  4. I hope everyone has had a great week up until this point and that everyone has a wonderful weekend as well. Friday has once again graced us with it's presence and with it we have two more prompts from the prompt guru, Comicfan. As always, we're also sharing a previous prompt response. Don't forget, if either of these prompts trigger a response from you, share it in the prompt forum and maybe you'll see yours featured next week! Prompt 324 – Creative Tag – Photo Use the following photo to write a story. Prompt 325 – Creative Tag – List of Words Use the following words in a story – tulips, muddy foot prints, glass of wine, blanket, and a squirrel. This week I decided to feature Jo Ann's prompt response to Prompt #323, enjoy! Want to read the rest? Of course you do! Click here! As always... Read, Write, and REVIEW!!!
  5. Hope everyone has had a wonderful week so far, but now it's almost over and that means that it's once more time to bring you a couple of new prompts courtesy of the prompt guru, Comicfan. Hopefully one of these two prompts spark something for you, if it does, make sure to share it in the Writing Prompts Forum and maybe we'll feature it next week in the Friday Prompt Me! Prompt 322 – Creative Tag – Date Night Things haven’t been going well in your relationship. The spice has gone out of it, but you are still in love with your mate. In order to get the fires going you plan a special date night. What is it? Prompt 323 – Creative Tag – First Line “Can I talk to you?” We don't typically get poems as responses to the prompts, but last time we did. Since it's kind of unusual, I decided to feature Layla's poetry response to Prompt #321: Hope you enjoyed Layla's prompt response! As always.... Read, Write, and REVIEW!
  6. I'm back! Well, just for a couple of guest posts to allow Renee to enjoy herself. So we're at the end of the week, and that means we get a chance to explore two new writing prompts, courtesy of our prompt-guru Comicfan. I think you'll like these - I know I can't wait to see what people come up with. But when you do - share it with the rest of the community in the Writing Prompt forum! Prompt 320 – Creative Tag – The Drought Your town is suffering through the worst drought that it has ever known. It is going on two years without a single drop and nothing is growing. The once lush lawns and forests are dry kindling. The businesses have slowly closed and the town is looking like it might soon just vanish beneath the blowing dust. You might know a way to finally make it rain, but you know it will come at a cost. What do you have to do? Prompt 321 – Creative Tag – List of Words Use the following words in a story – a cactus, a hedgehog, a broken clock, a Band-Aid, and a computer. One really interesting use of last week's prompts came from Ron, who took Prompt 318 (first line) and came up with The Goodbye Garden: Here you can see the rest of this response, as well as a link to an earlier prompt response involving Tommy. Enjoy!
  7. Hope everyone has had a wonderful week and is looking forward to the weekend!! It's that time again, time for two new prompts to help get the wheels turning. Enjoy! Prompt 318 – Creative Tag – First Line “I’ve wanted to do that since … forever.” Prompt 319 - Creative Tag – The Bet Your friend has always had a big mouth, but last week he just went to far. He said he could out do you, in one of the things you are best known for in front of everyone you both know. To shut him up, you accepted the bet. What did you two bet on, who won, and what was the bet? This week I decided to feature Mann Rambling's response to Prompt #316: Read the rest here. Don't forget... Read, Write, and Review.
  8. FRIDAY, FRIDAY, FRIDAY!!! *Dances* Oh, oops. Forgot what I was doing there for a moment. Hope everyone has had a great week and I bet everyone is looking forward to the weekend. Before the weekend can get here though, we have to do the weekly prompts from the Prompt Guru. Hopefully one of these will spark an idea!!! Prompt 316 – Creative Tag – Picture Create a story using the following image as an inspiration. Prompt 317 – Creative Tag – The Bunny Holidays have never interested you and most of the time you forget when they are. This morning you had to be up before dawn for a marathon you were running. As you got outside you spotted a pure white bunny in a vest with a huge basket over one of his paws. What do you do? This week, I decided to feature a response to prompt #315 by Cazpedroso To read the rest, click here! Don't forget.... Read, Write, and REVIEW!!!
  9. Ahh, it's Friday, and for many, that means it's the end of the work week. For all of us here at Gay Authors, that means something else though, it means it's time for two new prompts from GA's Prompt Guru, Comicfan. Hope you enjoy these prompts and that they inspire you to write a little something, and if you do, don't forget to share your responses in the prompt forum!! Prompt 314 – Creative Tag – Sleeping Beauty Two months ago a rare find in Mexico happened. Inside an old pyramid, a perfectly preserved body was found. On closer inspection they found the body was actually still alive, but in some sort of suspended animation. The body has been on tour, nicknamed the Sleeping Beauty. You go to the exhibit and discover something truly unusual about the two hundred year old beauty. What is it? Prompt 315 – Creative Tag – List of Words Use the following in a story – storybook, old mansion, topaz ring, broken step, and a turkey sandwich. This week, I decided to feature AJ's response to Prompt #312. It seemed only fitting since that prompt was apparently created with AJ in mind, plus, there's actually three responses by AJ! Enjoy! To read AJ's other two prompt responses, click here. The rest of last weeks responses can be found here and here. Don't forget... Read, Write, and REVIEW!!!
  10. Hope everyone has had a wonderful week so far! What better way to end the week than with two new prompts from our prompt guru, Comicfan. Don't forget to share your responses in the prompt forum! Enjoy! Prompt 312 – Creative Tag – Bacon That is right ladies and gentlemen, the topic is bacon. You may use it in any form you like, a story, a poem, or whatever your little mind can create. Have fun. Prompt 313 – Creative Tag – First Line “Did you say the crocuses were blooming?” This week I decided to feature Aditus' response to Prompt #310, enjoy: To read the rest, click here.
  11. The prompts are back! We didn't have any prompts last week because I hijacked Friday to announce the release of the 2014 Spring Anthology: Nature's Wrath. I hope everyone enjoyed the stories and if you haven't already read them, I encourage everyone to go take a look. Lots of good stories to choose from. Guess it's time to see what the prompt guru, Comicfan, has in store for us this week! Prompt 310 – Creative Tag – List of Words Use the following words in a story – tent, a running river, a wolf, a lighter, and a bowl of cereal. Prompt 311 – Creative Tag – Parade You woke up this morning only to hear someone pounding on your front door a moment later. Throwing on a robe you open the door to find your best friend standing there looking at you. “I thought you would be dressed by now. We are going to be late to the parade!” What parade are you supposed to be going to and what happens? Two weeks ago we had someone share their first-ever prompt response with us, so I decided to use it for the featured prompt. Hope you enjoy JMH's response to prompt #308: Want to read more? Read it here. Don't forget.... Read, Write, and Review!!!!
  12. I can't believe it's Friday already, and that means it's time for two new prompts from our prompt guru, Comicfan. I hope you enjoy them and that one of them will spark an idea! Prompt 308 – Creative Tag – Photo Prompt 309 – Creative Tag – Phone Call Your phone rings and you pick up it. There is only one problem, the conversation going on is one you remember happening ten years ago on the date of a terrible accident. As the conversation continues you suddenly feel very light headed and close your eyes. However, when you open them you find yourself still on the phone but now dressed as you were all those years ago. What do you do? 20. Another Friday is here and you all know what that means - yes, new prompts. Prompt 292 – Creative Tag – The Horoscope You never put any trust in the horoscopes, but today when you got to work your co-worker walked over and nearly shoved the paper in your face asking you to read it. When you looked up your horoscope it was as if someone had filmed your morning so far and what you read for your afternoon completely floored you. What was your horoscope and did it come true? Prompt 293 – Creative Tag – List of Words Use the following in a story – museum, newspaper, crown, torn pants, and a cookie. Last week I had one person say they were going to do a story, but there was only one response. So, I am using it. Yup, I choose my own work. I took a page out of Joann's writing, but didn't make KC the poor man taking the blame. Hopefully next week someone else will write up a story so I have something else to pick on. So till next time, remember to read, write, and review. Enjoy. - Wayne
  21. Well here we are at the first Friday of the New Year. I hope everyone had fun. As we start the new year I have had people approach me asking about new ideas for the prompts. Considering it isn't the first time I have been approached about this topic, I figured we would give it a try. So, here are your first prompts for 2014 Prompt 290 - Creative Tag - Photo Use the following image to create a story. Prompt 291 – Creative Tag - First Line “Oh crap! Here we go again.” Last week in preparation for the New Year there were two prompts to inspire such writings. Joann took the bull by the horns and once again created something that has to be read to be enjoyed. Of course there is more to her tale, I mean anyone who has read a story by Joann knows she isn't done till she has tormented KC. To read the rest go here - http://www.gayauthors.org/forums/topic/38159-prompt-289-creative/#entry447209 So that is it ladies and gentlemen. Hopefully your New Year will continue to go well. I hope everyone will read, write, and review. Till next time stay safe and enjoy. - Wayne In addition to the regular Prompt Me blog post, we have posted a second blog post today. Please check out our Hosted Author Background blog post! Thanks!! ~Renee
  22. It is that time again, prompt time. Hope everyone has been enjoying their holidays. Now on to the prompts. Prompt 288 – Creative Tag – New Year You made a new resolution for yourself this year. Unfortunately on the first day of the New Year problems immediately arose. What was your resolution? Prompt 289 – Creative Tag – List of Words Use the following words in a story – Champagne, party, dress shirt, pot hole, and a deer. Last week I asked in a prompt to look at what could happen for Christmas. Joann decided to give us one of her special stories. Like it? Wanna know what else she wrote? Of course you do. So go look here - http://www.gayauthors.org/forums/topic/38117-prompt-287-creative/#entry446059 The other prompt was done as well and can be found here - http://www.gayauthors.org/forums/topic/38116-prompt-286-creative/ So I hope you all read, write, and review. Have a Happy New Year and be safe. Till next time. - Wayne
  23. Well, we made it to another Friday. Did you miss me? I hope you all took the time to read and comment on the Anthology which went live last Thursday. However, it is now time for some new prompts. So consider these my gifts to you, open them and let the fun begin. Prompt 286 – Creative Tag – First Line “Is that really the gift you’re giving him?” Prompt 287 – Creative Tag – Holiday Special The malls are a mess, the people are surly, and your shopping list is beginning to look like a noose. However, everything is changed by the actions of one person and now your living your own holiday special. What happened and who is the one that changed your holiday. Anyway, two weeks ago I gave out two prompts and people seemed to jump all over the one about Wonderland. Who knew so many people would want to follow that sexy little rabbit? There were three really excellent entries and I wish I could spot light them all. However, Jaybird85 decided to use this as his first chapter of an ongoing story. (Alright, I'm biased. I like it when someone takes a prompt and runs with it.) Here is a sample of his first chapter. So what do you think? Curious about what else he might have written? I sure hope so. You can find his story and the other talented authors take on this topic here - http://www.gayauthors.org/forums/topic/38048-prompt-285-creative/#entry444815 And the other prompt also had someone take up the challenge and can be found here - http://www.gayauthors.org/forums/topic/38047-prompt-284-creative/ So there they are, my gifts to you and the gifts your fellow authors have created for your enjoyment. Don't forget to read, write, and review them all. Enjoy your holiday everyone. Stay safe. - Wayne
  24. Ah December is upon us and most people are deep into shopping mode. Some people are still fighting to finish their Anthology stories, which are to be in by today if you are smart, and some are busy with their on going stories. Yet I am here to tempt you all with new ideas to write about. Yes, ladies and gentlemen, it is Friday once again. Prompt 284 – Creative Tag – List of Words Use the following words in a story – a large pimple, an old man, a torn pocket, a diamond earring, and a stack of magazines. Prompt 285 – Creative Tag – Wonderland Lately you felt your life was getting a little crazy. You kept wishing you could get away and just not deal with your daily life. Then you ran into a guy who was dressed all in a white, with a rabbit design on his tee shirt that read, “Never late so always on time.” You watched him dash down the street ahead of you and seem to vanish into a store called The Looking Glass. Curious you go to follow him and slip as you cross the threshold. When you go to stand up you find yourself in a totally different environment. What is this Wonderland like? Is it better or worse than your normal life? So another week with no takers for the prompts. However I decided to dig into the past and find something interesting to post. So here is one I thought everyone might enjoy. Prompt 246 asked the author to use the opening line "What now?" Kitt rose to the challenge and gave this story to us to read. Do you want to know what else Kitt came up with? Of course you do. So go read the rest and then leave a comment. http://www.gayauthors.org/forums/topic/37326-prompt-246-creative/ Till next time - remember to write, read, and review. Enjoy everyone. - Wayne
  25. Another Friday has rolled around. Here in the USA it is Black Friday and all the retailers try to get shoppers out and spending their holiday cash. Hopefully before everyone rushes out to do that I can gather a few interested souls in writing a prompt story or two. Prompt 282 – Creative Tag – First Line “I’ve never had to tell this to anyone else, but I suppose it is time I did.” Prompt 283 – Creative Tag – Birthday Gift You weren’t exactly looking forward to your birthday but arrived as it does every year. Only this year, you got a gift you just weren’t expecting. What is it? Last week I gave two opportunities for Thanksgiving tales or even a fall tale, but there were no takers. So hoping people find something interesting to write about. Remember to read, write, and review. Have a good week everyone. - Wayne
