  1. Ah, the fourth Thursday of the month. We all know what that means, right? It's time for the Author Guess Who reveal! Did y'all have any guesses as to who the mystery author could be? If not, time to take another look at the interview... > > > HERE < < < So, we have someone who is a fan of both Alan Alda and Jerry Seinfeld, has two Bachelor degrees, and is allergic to dogs. Well, that last part is pretty tragic. How awful! Unable to pet floofy doggos... Those poor, happy puppers who won't get a petting from the human with allergies. I might shed a tear. *sniffle* Put your Kleenexes away because it's time to reveal this month's mystery author! It is... a Promising Author! This author... has written 734,400 words! This author... is... astone2292 Teehee! C'mon, now. Y'all thought I wouldn't hold back my ego and be a part of the game? To be fair, I had my interview ready for almost two years. I just had to make a tweak or seven. Or was it twelve? I don't know, it was a number or four. Anyway, here's three of my stories/collections I'm most proud of! If you would like to participate in a future Author Guess Who interview, send me a PM (private message)! Author Guess Who is a fun way to get some exposure in our little GA community, and it will allow others to get to know you a little bit. I'll see ya in a few weeks for April's AGW!
  2. A thousand apologies for being a little late for this month's Author Guess Who! But don't worry, it's here. Y'all know the drill, and if you're new, the game is simple. Read and analyze the following interview with the mystery author, then sound off in the comment section below and guess the author! In two weeks, our author will be revealed for all to point fingers at and, in a Family Fued-like sigh, say "Ohhh... that one!" • • • • • What is one thing that most GA members might not know about you? I got a two-for-one special when I graduated college. After taking two random electives, my advisor told me I got the proper credits for a second Bachelors degree. Yippee!! What prompted you to write your first story? I tend to daydream a lot, and I can safely do that while I work at my job. I kept coming back to the same thought train, and I built on it. Before I knew it, I had the bones for a story. Letting my overactive imagination do something productive for once, I sat down, gave my characters some names, and typed a whole book! What genre of books do you enjoy reading and have you written for that genre? I'll read anything, but I am a sucker for a murder-mystery! Each page/chapter gets me on the edge of my seat, and I have a hard time stopping until I reach the end. I have not written a mystery and while I want to, I can not keep a secret. The urge to drop hints in the comment section would tempt me. Is there a genre that you haven’t written for that you would consider trying later on? I have written/am currently writing every genre I wanted to write, so let me think about my options here... I believe Fantasy is next on my list. The thought of going deep into world building leaves me nervous. I'm not the best at detail tracking. What do like most about publishing on GA? The community! The members of this site's community are so welcoming and friendly. When I post a chapter, I find myself visiting the site on a regular basis to find a fresh comment or reaction. Getting feedback is beyond important, and I think this is what sets GA above the other self-publishing websites. Do you have any unique writing habits or rituals to help you get into a writing mood? I get bored, pull out my phone, and write whenever I can. Five minutes can get me a couple of paragraphs, and that helps out tremendously! How has your writing style evolved over time? I started writing as a hobby, but even after a year, I have noticed a considerable difference. I tested the waters with a few new concepts in character dialogue, and from the feedback I received, it was a fantastic gamble! I don't believe my style has fully developed yet, but watching it grow has placed a fat grin on my face. Do you have a significant other? Yep. I married the man I love, and I only hope for countless years with him. Do you have any pets? Nope. The husband wants a husky, even though I'm allergic to dogs. Do you post multi-chapter stories as you write? Do you wait until you’ve finished writing the entire story? Or is it something in between? I used to post chapters as I write, but I've strayed away from it as of late. Unfortunately, that left me with several WIPs, and I can't decide which one to focus on for posting. Maybe I need to go back to my roots to feel the urgency to keep posting chapters on time. What is your favorite television show? I'll have to say M*A*S*H*. I grew up watching the show, as reruns came on when I got home from the bus stop. Hawkeye became my role model. Like him, I combat my life with a cheery smile, but my emotions often get the best of me. Hawkeye's way of pushing down his growing depression using comedy, speaks to me. Same goes for when he stumbles into a serious situation and that flip-switch gets hit for him to be equally serious/angry. What is your favorite movie? It's not a movie, but I watch Oh, Hello on Broadway on a very regular basis. The target audience is a little narrow, but I love every New York and theater reference. No matter how many times I watch it, I always get a laugh from several lines, particularly, "Could you go get me a Ferrero Rocher chocolate? Or a Lindt Lindor truffle? My favorite flavor is blue." Do you write poetry? Prose? Or both? Nope. I'm not sure if I'll ever dive into it, but I might give it a shot at some point. If you could meet one person, living or dead, who would it be? Jerry Seinfeld. I talk like him, I act like him, and I want to meet him. What would you say is your greatest accomplishment? I was one of the two students to graduate from my high school with a Vocational Technical Honors diploma in the school's history, despite it being quite easy to obtain. It was a complete accident since the guidance counselor had no idea the diploma existed in our state's educational system. That meeting three days before graduation will always reside in my mind. • • • • • If Alan Alda and Jerry Seinfeld had a love child? I'm slightly concerned. KIDDING!! I'm kidding. I'm sure this author is a wonderful person and deserves the Author Guess Who spotlight. See y'all in two weeks! Put your guesses in the comment section below, and don't be afraid to throw a random author out there.
  3. Holy smokes! I mean literally. Okay, not really, but use your imaginations for a moment. A dark theater stage. The crimson curtains slowly open to fog creeping out into the audience. A lone spotlight shines upon a mysterious silhouette. Who could it be? What is their purpose? Will they entertain or shock us? For those who fell asleep, it's the fourth Thursday of the month, which means it's time for the Author Guess Who reveal! If you missed out on the interview, you can read it right... > > > HERE < < < And for those who may have guess correctly, give yourselves a pat on the back! Without further ado, let's reveal our mystery author. It is... an Admin! This author... has written 565,324 words! This author... is... Valkyrie Check out these stories they've written! And if you enjoyed this blog game, feel free to join in on the fun! Send me a PM expressing your interest, and I'll give you a wonderful list of questions! See y'all in a few weeks!
  4. It is time! No, not the Super Bowl. Not the yearly anthology either. Put your guessing hats on, y'all! Don't worry, I'll give you a few seconds... Darn, it's in the title. Jeezums, what am I supposed to do with all of this confetti? Maybe I'll hand it to a kid waiting at the bus stop and tell 'em to wreak havoc in class. Evil plots aside, it's time for Author Guess Who! For those who do not know or are new, this is a monthly blog game with a mystery interviewee. The only clues you get are that they're an author on GA and the following Q&A. Not only do you get to whip out your magnifying glasses, but you can learn more about some of our community here. If you think you know who it is or just want to point accusatory fingers, drop a guess or five in the comment section! Let's see what our mystery guest has to say. Who knows... They might've accidentally left a clue that will unmask their identity. • • • • • What is one thing the GA community might not know about you? I’m on the LGBTQ rainbow, but I won’t say which letter. You're making a peanut butter & jelly sandwich. What kind of peanut butter, and what kind of jelly/jam? Crunchy peanut butter with homemade grape jelly made with grapes from my mom’s next door neighbor’s grapevine. What prompted you to write your first story? I’ve always loved to read and wanted to try my hand at writing my own story about my interests. If you could meet one person, living or dead, who would it be? The living person. Unless it’s a vampire. A real vampire like Lestat or Louis. None of this Twilight bullshit. Are you a dog or cat person? Meow hiss What's something on your bucket list? To visit Alaska. Hey, how about that? Teleportation was just invented. Where's the first place you're going? Don't worry, the purple portal pad is totally safe. I’m going to visit my bestie, purple portal pad be damned! Is there a fictional character you look up to? Who is it? It’s a character I wrote, so What is your favorite movie/television show? Pee Wee’s Big Adventure You've been exposed to fictional radiation! Don't worry, it's not that bad... I think. What super power would you like to have? Teleportation without the purple portal pad. Which actor/actress would you like to see portray you in this year's newest documentary blockbuster? Either Kathy Bates or Dan Levy When you go on vacation/holiday, when do you pack your suitcase? The night before, a few hours before the plane takes off? Who the hell packs the night before? Procrastinators unite! Tomorrow… What would you say is your greatest accomplishment? Being at peace with who I am and where I am in life. • • • • • So, we got a procrastinating, cat-loving, Alaska-admiring author? This one might be a doozie. I hope y'all grabbed your detective hats because my lips are sealed. Mark your calendars for the reveal on the 22nd of this month. Did you catch a hint? If so, comment section! Go Go GO!!!
  5. The alarms are going off! Two week have come and gone, so now is the time to see if you guessed our mystery author. If you missed the questions or forgot what the responses were, you can click HERE to read 'em. Let's check the reveal! It is... a Promising Author! This author... has written over 1,124,061 words! This author... is... kbois Check out these stories they've written!
  6. Y'all would be so proud of me. I set an alarm to get this month's edition of Author Guess Who all typed up! If you don't know the drill, Author Guess Who is a blog game where our community is given some answered questions and is tasked with guessing which of our wonderful authors participated. Don't be afraid to be analytical about the responses. There might be a hidden clue buried within. Here we go! • • • • • What is one thing the GA community might not know about you? I struggle daily with self-confidence. Peanut butter: Crunchy or creamy? Crunchy. But I'm not super picky. What prompted you to write your first story? Unemployment and boredom. Do you have a significant other? Yes. You're stuck on an island. You're allowed one book, one food item, and one beverage. What are they? Too hard to pick only one book. That's like trying to choose which kid you put the oxygen mask on first when the plane decompresses. Food is easier. Steak. Preferably rib-eye. Beverage, clean, crisp water. Survival has to take precedence over anything else. If you could meet one person, living or dead, who would it be? Hmmm. Robin Williams. The man was brilliant. Are you a dog or cat person? Woof. What's something on your bucket list? The Edinburgh Military Tattoo. Hey, how about that? Teleportation was just invented. Where's the first place you're going? Don't worry, the purple portal pad is totally safe. Duh... Edinburgh during Tattoo. Is there a fictional character you look up to? Who is it? Rip on Yellowstone. He's badass. What is your favorite movie/television show? Lassie How would you describe the taste of salt to someone who has never had it before? It tastes like the ocean smells. Which actor/actress would you like to see portray you in this year's newest documentary blockbuster? Melissa McCarthy When you go on vacation/holiday, when do you pack your suitcase? The night before, a few hours before the plane takes off? Usually a day or two before, but I'm always throwing crap in as we're going out the door. What would you say is your greatest accomplishment? Honestly, my stories. They're something that pushed me to do something completely out of my comfort zone. In doing so I became part of an amazing community. • • • • • Edinburgh, Lassie, and crunchy peanut butter... I would say I don't have a clue, but I carry the answer. Did anyone else pick up anything important in that interview? Any bells or alarms go off? Shout out your guesses in the comment section below! The reveal will be posted on the 25th, so mark your calendars.
  7. Hope everyone had some happy holidays! Yours truly did. Seeing Momma Stone's eyes light up when she opened her new iPad was a great moment. The bro-in-law got me an indoor counter-top grill, so I'll be using that every day for the next week until I accidentally leave it in the farthest corner of the cabinet. Speaking of weeks, your two weeks are up. Time to see if y'all guessed the author. If you missed the questions or forgot what the responses were, you can click HERE to read 'em. Let's check the reveal! This author... has 68 stories logged! This author... has written over two million words! This author... is... Cia Check out these stories they've written! Thanks for participating, @Cia! Always a pleasure to read you're work (when I have a spare moment). As for you, dear reader, January is right around the corner. That means another edition is on its way! In the meantime, if you're an author that would like to participate in our little AGW game, feel free to send me a message.
  8. You know what I like about the holidays? There's the food, the gatherings, the booze. But there's also games, and it's time to play! Right here, right now. Get your guessing hats on because it's Author Guess Who! For those who aren't familiar, we have a lovely interview with a mystery author. It will be your job to deduce who it could possibly be, which may or may not be easy. After you've taken some time to think about who it might be, make your guess in the comment section! Let's get into it, folks! • • • • • What is one thing that most GA members might not know about you? I'm afraid of clowns. Seriously, IT at age 8 with a sadistic best friend ruined me for clowns AND scary movies. What prompted you to write your first story? On GA? Authors here who I beta read for told me to post the ideas I had. As a kid? I told stories to my step-siblings at bed time until they fell asleep and they wanted to draw the pictures, so I would write them out for them. What genre of books do you enjoy reading and have you written for that genre? Yep and oh yes! Is there a genre that you haven’t written for that you would consider trying later on? Of course. Writing the same thing is boring. What do you like most about publishing on GA? Comments, duh. LOL I love the community of readers/authors. Do you have any unique writing habits or rituals to help you get into a writing mood? Nope. Writing is part mood but mostly just "do it, get it done!" once I commit to a project. How has your writing style evolved over time? Editing for sure. I also moved away from all those horrible cliches (at least I hope so). Do you have a significant other? Yep, for a long time. Decades. Ages. Eons. Since the dawn of... "Hey, stop stealing the covers!" was a thing I could know existed. Do you have any pets? Furry friends are a must! Do you post multi-chapter stories as you write? Do you wait until you’ve finished writing the entire story? Or is it something in between? As I write. I sometimes don't even do a read through before I post. *shrugs* I'm impatient. And last-minute. What is your favorite television show? TV bores me. Currently the family likes Prodigal Son and 911. What is your favorite movie? Willow Do you write poetry? Prose? Or both? Gods, no to the poetry. Don't really like to read it either and refuse to beta it. Prose is where I fall. If you could meet one person, living or dead, who would it be? Grandma, because there's never enough hugs from that person in your life. I didn't see her enough in my life, since we always lived thousands of miles apart, and I miss her beyond belief since she passed. What would you say is your greatest accomplishment? The legacy I will leave behind when I die, my monsters. • • • • • I must say, these are some very interesting responses. Who could it be? Were there any major clues in the interview? Get those guesses in! Y'all got two weeks to rack your noggins. The reveal will publish on December 28th, so take your time. Do some research. Whisper among yourselves to figure it out. And for the authors that think this sounds like fun, send me a message! Authors are welcome to participate. I'll give you a big ol' list of questions for you to answer! See you in two weeks!
  9. Ooooooh! Did I give y'all enough time to put your guesses in? I know @Valkyrie has been a wee bit antsy to find out who this month's AGW participant was. Let's see if anyone got it right... This author... has 13 stories logged! This author... has written over 139,000 words! This author... is... Mancunian Check out these stories they've written! Thanks for participating, @Mancunian! Keep your peepers open. December's edition is right around the corner.
  10. Taking a quick poll here. Who here almost forgot Author Guess Who existed? I didn't, and I've been busy collecting interviews over the past few weeks. For those that forgot what this is or are new to the GA community, this is a little interview game. I have a little list of questions for a mystery author/community member, and using their responses, your job is to figure out who it is! You're given two weeks to put your guesses in before the reveal is posted. Don't be afraid to point fingers or do a deep-dive research expedition. This game isn't just for fun. It's also a spotlight for authors who want a wee bit of publicity. During the reveal, they get to choose three of their posted stories to be featured on the site! Let's see what our mystery author of the month has to say... *** What is one thing that most GA members might not know about you? I finished my education without any qualifications or exam passes, or as some would say I never graduated. The few qualifications I hold were gained through work. You just walked into a state-of-the-art kitchen with a magical pantry, filled to the brim with every known ingredient. What are you cooking for yourself? Bread, what can I say? I'm a person with simple tastes and the smell of freshly baked bread brings back good memories and helps me to relax. What prompted you to write your first story? I don't really know. I woke up one morning and felt like I had to write, so I did. It felt like someone else was writing, not me. Do you have a significant other? Not at this moment in time. I've been in a couple of relationships that have ended badly and left me feeling wary of others. I've recently started to get to know someone, so who knows? Maybe that could change. You're stuck on an island. You're allowed one book, one food item, and one beverage. What are they? That depends on how long I'd be there. If it's for a long time I would want a good survival book, corn because I can eat it and/or grow more and coffee. Of course, the last two would need me to find a water source. If you could meet one person, living or dead, who would it be? Nobody famous. I'd like to meet my uncle, he died before I was born and my Dad often spoke about him. I'd love to hear his version of the high-jinx they used to get up to. Are you a dog or cat person? Due to circumstances I don't have any pets, but out of the two I'm definitely a dog person. What's something on your bucket list? I've never really thought about it. It would be nice to travel more than I'm currently able to so a round the world trip could appeal. But more realistic for me would be to move out of the city allowing me to have horses, but as I haven't ridden since childhood I'd need riding lessons first. Hey, how about that? Teleportation was just invented. Where's the first place you're going? Don't worry, the purple portal pad is totally safe. Vancouver, that's where my godmother lives. I've been there once and would love to go back there, it felt like a welcoming place to be. Is there a fictional character you look up to? Who is it? I admire the character Jethro Gibbs from NCIS. The flawed character has faced many personal setbacks, yet still manages to carry on with life and lend support to others. If admiration is looking up to someone then it is Jethro. What is your favorite movie/television show? That's easy, my favourite TV show is NCIS and similar programs. Favourite movie is anything in the Marvel Avengers franchise. What is your spirit animal? Maybe an eagle, I think I'd enjoy the freedom that comes with being able to fly high and swoop down fast. Which actor/actress would you like to see portray you in this year's newest documentary blockbuster? Taron Egerton, just because I think he's a good-looking hunk. When you go on vacation/holiday, when do you pack your suitcase? The night before, a few hours before the plane takes off? I don't travel much, I'm more of a homebody. When I do travel I'm always packed way ahead of time, I like to be organised. What would you say is your greatest accomplishment? That's not really easy to answer so I'll say writing anything that receives a good review. I don't consider myself to be a writer so the reviews mean a lot to me. *** And there we go! Y'all have two weeks to figure out who this mystery author could possibly be! In the meantime, did you know any author can participate in this game? Holy smokes, you didn't? Well, now you do! Shoot me a PM if you're interested in answering some silly questions. I'll be the only person that will know you are the mystery author [unless pesky admins take a sneak peak]. As a reward for participating, you'll be featured on the site during the reveal! Good luck, folks!
  11. Alrighty, I gave y'all two weeks to put your guesses in. Did you leave a guess in the interview's comment section? Were you right? Let's find out! This author... has 59 stories logged. This author... is a Gay Authors admin. This author... is... Graeme 59 Stories / 1,902,957 Words Check out these awesome stories they wrote! • • • • • Who got it right? Leave your celebratory comments down below! If you enjoyed this blog game and want to join in on the fun, send me a PM! I'll send you a list of questions, and as a thank you, we'll feature up to three stories/collections of your choosing. With the upcoming anthology, Author Guess Who will be taking a month off. Don't worry, though. We have a few more interviews lined up for when we get back!
  12. Before you shake a finger at me, we're changing the Author Guess Who schedule for a good reason! All next month, the GA Blog Squad will promote the upcoming Anthology. Knowing this, we're giving y'all a warm-up round. Let's see if we can get some guesses, and don't forget to pay close attention to the interview... What is one thing that most GA members might not know about you? I started college at the age of 16. I wasn't the youngest, though, as one of the friends I made at college was also 16 and three months younger than me. What prompted you to write your first story? I was reading a story (sadly, it's no longer online) where a particular situation arose. I thought that the situation was one that should be explored further, so I wrote a story based on that situation. What genre of books do you enjoy reading and have you written for that genre? Science fiction and fantasy, predominantly, though I also have a number of historical mystery novels, too. While I've written some science fiction, it's not what I normally write. Is there a genre that you haven’t written for that you would consider trying later on? No. The genres I haven't written are all ones that I really don't feel inspired to try to write in. What do you like most about publishing on GA? The ease of publication and the great feedback the readers provide Do you have any unique writing habits or rituals to help you get into a writing mood? No. I write when I feel motivated and have the time to do so. The biggest challenge is getting the stars to align so those two events happen at the same time. How has your writing style evolved over time? Hopefully, it's improved. The overall style hasn't changed that much, but I'd like to think it's better. For that, I'll have to thank my editors, as I've been blessed with a great set of editors over the years. Do you have a significant other? Yes Do you have any pets? A Jack Russell, who is very spoiled. Do you post multi-chapter stories as you write? Do you wait until you’ve finished writing the entire story? Or is it something in between? In between. I used to post as I wrote, but I think the readers prefer more consistency. I therefore try to write as much as I can before I start posting, though I don't always try to finish the story before starting to post. What is your favorite television show? I can't really pick one. There have a been a lot of enjoyable shows over the years, but none stand out over the rest. M.A.S.H is certainly up there, though, if you need me to pick one. What is your favorite movie? Again, I can't really pick one. Different movies mean different things to me, so it depends on the mood. For example, last night I watched Thor Ragnarok because I wanted a fun, easy-to-watch movie that didn't require a lot of thinking. A movie like Lorenzo's Oil is when I want something serious and thought-provoking. Do you write poetry? Prose? Or both? Prose only. I've tried poetry, but my mind doesn't think that way. If you could meet one person, living or dead, who would it be? Another tough question. I can't think of anyone in particular, but there are people I would certainly like to know. I'm currently going through a boy band phase, so maybe Stephen Gately or Lance Bass? What would you say is your greatest accomplishment? That's an easy one: my family. *** And there we have it! Mull over the responses, then make your guesses in the comment section. In two weeks, the reveal will post, along with a few of their stories to be featured. Keep your peepers open. As for me, I'm off to a remote location where no one will prod me for clues and spoilers.
  13. What? Where? When? Why? Who? By the power vested in my fingietips and the GA blog squad, it is my great pleasure to announce the revival for a site-favorite blog game... Author Guess Who? First things first! A monumental thank you goes to @Renee Stevens for starting this whole thing back in 2019. For several of our online community, we loved getting to know our fellow writers in a fun and quirky way. With that said, we're keeping this proverbial gravy train going, even for the weirdos, like me, that don't like gravy. I know, I feel bad for admitting it. But that's the point of this little blog game: discover new facts about our fellow authors, then guess who it could be! Seeing how this is the introductory article, it's time to give the low-down on how this game works. I'll break it down the only way I know how... by asking questions! ***What?*** Author Guess Who? is a game blog featured on Gay Authors with two posts a month-- one providing responses to questions from a mystery author, with the other revealing who our featured writer is. ***Where?*** Right here on the Gay Authors News Blog! ***When?*** The interview questions and responses will post on the 2nd Thursday of every month. The author reveal will post on the 4th Thursday, so mark your calendars! ***Why?*** Author Guess Who? is a great way to promote yourself as an author in our community, as well as let everyone know who you are as a person. Some of the questions are silly, like whether you prefer crunchy or creamy peanut butter. Some are thought-provoking, such as why you started writing. This blog game is fun, but it also builds our community. ***Who?*** You! The authors here are this site's muse. No need to nominate or suggest who answers these questions. Put yourself out there! Just PM me if you'd like to be featured. In the reveal post, you get to choose up to three of your stories to be linked for the readers to check out your work. To be featured on the site AND have fun in the process? I wish door-to-door salesmen could be this productive and entertaining. If this tickled your fancy, then shoot me a PM with your expressed interest. I'll follow up shortly with a list of ten or so questions. And don't forget to check out all of the previous editions of Author Guess Who? here.
  14. Well, it's time to see who our mystery author was for this month. Do you think you got it right? Well, let's take a look shall we? This month's mystery author was..... wildone Did you get it right? Check out these stories from wildone!
  15. Who's ready for another episode of Author Guess Who? The reveal will happen on Christmas Eve, so you have a couple of weeks to get your guesses in! Happy guessing! What is one thing that most GA members might not know about you? Hmm. Maybe that I used to study Japanese. I have forgotten all but a few words and phrases of it now, but I used to practice on a friend of mine who was from Japan. What prompted you to write your first story? Music. I was listening to a remix of the X-Files theme and it made me want to write something weird and spooky. I don’t think I ever grew out of that. What genre of books do you enjoy reading and have you written for that genre? I read a lot of fantasy and paranormal, and I’ve written for both. Neither one of them have been my primary genre, which is surprising to me. Is there a genre that you haven’t written for that you would consider trying later on? I think it would be really cool to write a mystery novel, but it’s a bit of an intimidating idea. I think it would require a lot of reverse engineering and deliberately misleading readers, and I don’t think I’m especially skilled at either of those. What do like most about publishing on GA? Definitely the feedback. I would gladly welcome more constructive criticism but reading comments like “This is awesome” is certainly fun too. Do you have any unique writing habits or rituals to help you get into a writing mood? No, usually all it takes is setting down and opening up a notebook. I do tend to write better with pen and paper, because computers usually come with this very distracting thing called the internet. I really like having a beverage and some nice background music, but I can do without it if I need to. How has your writing style evolved over time? It’s definitely gotten more character based, more descriptive (that is something I still get pinged on) and I think my writing has a bit more of a sense of humor (my stories used to be super serious bordering in angsty). Do you have a significant other? Not yet. Do you have any pets? I have two adorable cats. I mean, seriously. They’re cute. Do you post multi-chapter stories as you write? Do you wait until you’ve finished writing the entire story? Or is it something in between? This might be the answer that gives me away. I don’t post as I write. Never. I excel at procrastination, and as a reader myself, I know how frustrating it can be to wait weeks and weeks for a chapter of a great story to go up. The only way I can maintain a consistent posting schedule is to not start posting a story until it is like 99% complete. What is your favorite television show? I really love Buffy the Vampire Slayer. I started watching it when it first aired and I was about the main characters age, so I followed her through high school and college. I loved seeing a kick-ass female protagonist and vampires that actually looked like monsters. What is your favorite movie? Star Wars, Independence Day, Volcano. It’s hard to pick one. Do you write poetry? Prose? Or both? I wrote some really awful poetry in college that I will never share If you could meet one person, living or dead, who would it be? I noticed that you didn’t say fictional, so I guess my own characters are out. (Damn). Stephen King. I just find him so interesting, I love his writing and the way his mind works. What would you say is your greatest accomplishment? Honestly, each time I finish a project, polish it and post it, then get the response from readers, it’s the greatest feeling of accomplishment in the world, I haven’t felt anything yet that tops it.
  16. Eek! Sorry all, this was supposed to go up yesterday, but things were crazy. The author in Guess Who #5 was..... Timothy M. Did you get it right? Check out these stories by Timothy M!
  17. Once again, doing this from my phone, so please forgive the lack of extra formatting. You'll have a couple of weeks to guess who this author is, and then I'll do the reveal. Happy Guessing! What is one thing that most GA members might not know about you? I enjoy singing and acting in amateur performances, though I’m not very good at it. What prompted you to write your first story? Reading an article in the paper about online story writing. What genre of books do you enjoy reading and have you written for that genre? Sci-fi, fantasy, and crime genres and I’ve tried one of them. Is there a genre that you haven’t written for that you would consider trying later on? To be honest, I probably don't have the knowledge, experience or imagination to try most of the genres. What do you like most about publishing on GA? Getting feedback and friends Do you have any unique writing habits or rituals to help you get into a writing mood? No, but I do eat a lot of chocolate. How has your writing style evolved over time? From tell to show with more dialogue. Do you have a significant other? No comment. Do you have any pets? Not at the moment Do you post multi-chapter stories as you write? Do you wait until you’ve finished writing the entire story? Or is it something in between? As I write them, because I like to use input from readers. What is your favorite television show? I don’t watch television shows. What is your favorite movie? Willow Do you write poetry? Prose? Or both? Definitely no poetry. If you could meet one person, living or dead, who would it be? My grandfather who died when I was a teen. What would you say is your greatest accomplishment? Being optimistic and content with my life
  18. Two weeks ago, I was able to start the Author Guess Who back up.... Many may still be asking, Who was it???? Well.... Thorn Wilde If you've never read anything by Thorn before, maybe you should check out one of these two stories!
  19. I know it's been a while, but it's time for another Author Guess WHO! You'll have a couple of weeks to guess the author. Good luck! Sorry about the lack of extra formatting. Posting using my phone again. What is one thing that most GA members might not know about you? I used to listen almost exclusively to heavy metal, before I realised that the world wasn't divided into heavy metal and bubblegum pop. What prompted you to write your first story? I wrote my first story when I was four, and it was about a baby seal that lost its mother and was raised by humans. I had a stuffed seal toy, which was what inspired it, probably. I've been writing ever since, couldn't stop. What genre of books do you enjoy reading and have you written for that genre? I love science fiction and fantasy. I rarely read books outside of SFF, except when I'm on here and I get lost in romance novels. The exception is when I find classics that I feel I really need to read. The last time that happened, it was Anne Brontë. I've tried writing both science fiction and fantasy, but it never really amounts to much. I have like ten science fiction novels I've started and never gotten anywhere with. Is there a genre that you haven’t written for that you would consider trying later on? I really want to write and finish a science fiction story one day. I also really want to write a crime novel. I love mysteries on TV. What do like most about publishing on GA? I like the interactions with my readers and the community in general. When I get comments and reviews, it makes me immeasurably happy, and I try to reply to each and every one of them, even if it's just to say thanks. Do you have any unique writing habits or rituals to help you get into a writing mood? Not really. It's more like I get in a writing mood and I can't not write. Of course, this means that I'm prone to writer's block, cause I can never force myself to write; it just happens. How has your writing style evolved over time? I don't know, I guess it's just generally improved. My prose is more varied now than it used to be, but I think the bare bones of my style is pretty much the same, like I found a style and mostly stuck with it. I think this question is easier for a reader to answer than for me, though. Do you have a significant other? I do. Do you have any pets? I have one cat. Do you post multi-chapter stories as you write? Do you wait until you’ve finished writing the entire story? Or is it something in between? It depends. I try to have at least a first draft finished before I start posting, and I've become more strict with myself about that after leaving people hanging quite a few times in the past when I didn't. I may start posting an unfinished story if I have a very clear idea of where I'm going and I'm confident that I'll be able to finish. I never start posting a story until I have at least a few chapters ready to go. What is your favorite television show? Oh, there are so many I love! But in the end, I'm a science fiction buff at heart, and I always return to Firefly. What is your favorite movie? Again, there are so many, but probably Velvet Goldmine. Because glam rock. And gayness. Do you write poetry? Prose? Or both? Mostly prose. I occasionally try my hand at poetry, but usually if I try it ends up as song lyrics instead. Been writing more poetry lately than I used to. If you could meet one person, living or dead, who would it be? Probably Ursula K. Le Guin. I'd love to pick her brain. Maybe she could teach me to write science fiction. Her, or David Bowie. It's a close call. What would you say is your greatest accomplishment? Actually finishing a novel. Happy Guessing!
