  2. This month's feature is a very popular, recent story posted by Dabeagle. A teen coming of age story, this one kept readers enthralled from start to finish--not easy to do with this genre that sees a lot of stories. What made it so popular? Well, check it out! Length: 67,281 Description: Ethan has a plan. No dating, nose down and get good grades so he can go to college on a scholarship and get away from his drugged zombie mother, criminal father and what's left of his siblings. He's going to drag his best friend Mason along with him because someone has to look out for the moron. The best laid plans are broken up by his greedy father, and someone who cares enough to defend Ethan. A Reader Said: What can I add? Probably one of my ALL TIME FAVORITES !!! Just perfect. Thank you again Dabeagle for a wonderful ride. ~ KayDeeMac If you want to spread the word about Dabeagle's story, download the graphic below and add it to your signature! 3. Did you catch Monday's feature announcing with Classic Author & story we are highlighting this month? If not, go check the reviews from some big fans of Dabeagle's story, Things We Lost, as well as downloading a graphic for your signature if you want to share your love of Dabeagle's story. In the meantime, check out why Timothy chose this story and excerpt to share with other readers! Timothy M. said: Ehren has lost most of the things many of us take for granted: loving parents, a home, the chance to have friends, go to school, have enough to eat, clean clothes and a shower s needed. Living on the streets is a hard life, but he’s clever and resourceful. On the day we meet him, he makes a snap decision to help a girl in need, in spite of being scared of the potential consequences. The ripples from this first stone are complicated further when Ehren flings another daring missile, and life as he knows it unravels around him. I’ve chosen the moment when Ehren is confronted with the desperate plight of a stranger. How would you react in his stead? To read more, check out the rest of the story here.
  4. This month's selection will have your heart racing, breaking, and then mended all over again... With a nomination by Timothy M, September's feature is Dabeagle's Things We Lost. This contemporary novella-length story is just right for a weekend reader (or single day, if you're a binger like me!). Length: 37,449 Description: Ehren's act of kindness pays off when he's most desperate for a place to hide. Tris, though, is more than he ever hoped for. His old life, before hitting the streets, is revealed and the glimmer of a future unfolds. 5. This thread, as I'm sure you've guessed, dear reader, is for discussion or questions on my newest serial, Things We lost. The story follows Ehren, a street kid, who lends a helping hand and whose life, shortly thereafter, spirals out of control. The story is complete in eight chapters and will post weekly.
  6. I hope everyone had a great weekend, but now it's time to start off a new week. A great way to start the week is to take a look at a story that can be found on Gay Authors. Today's feature is Toy Soldiers by Dabeagle. Valkyrie was nice enough to provide us with this great review. If you haven't already done so, maybe it will inspire you to take a look. If you do, don't forget to leave Dabeagle some reviews. Enjoy! Toy Soldiers by Dabeagle Classic Reviewer: Valkyrie Status: Complete Word Count: 55,840 I’m a big fan of Dabeagle’s writing and when he posts a new story, it immediately goes on my ‘must read’ list. Toy Soldiers is a very special story, because it is the last collaboration he wrote with his good friend Ryan Bartlett, who passed away earlier this year. Their writing styles mesh well to produce a story that is riveting, action-packed, and heart-wrenching, with enough levity to counteract some of the darker parts. Harlequin and Sage are members of the Green Squad; young soldiers who were kidnapped and raised by the malevolent Corporation. Their upbringing and training was not pleasant, and they receive word that their squad is to be ‘liquidated’. They escape and find a world vastly different from the one they just left. Learning how to navigate the social minefield that is adolescence, while engaging on a journey of self-discovery and plotting how to take down the Corporation proves to be a challenge for the boys. This story took me on an emotional roller coaster. It highlights a lot of what is bad in our society---greed, corruption, and abuse---but provides a necessary counterpoint with hope, love, and justice. I read the entire thing in one day because I was riveted by the story and couldn’t stop reading! The story could use some cleaning up since there are frequent misused words and grammatical errors, but it is still a well-written story with a good flow and great plot. I highly recommend reading it. Category: Fiction Genres: Adventure Tags: Teen, Military Rating:Teen
  7. :wizard: Happy Birthday, Dabeagle! I hope your day is as awesome as you are!
  8. Originally I intended this to be a short story, but with the experience and potential I'd had from the defunct 'Baysville' project, I had opened the doors to ask others to join my characters in Sanitaria Springs. Other stories did come, shorts that focused on other characters or places and they added to the tapestry of this real life town that we were embellishing. However another came along and we meshed very well, writing near seamlessly to advance the story and then another started a whole new branch with a different age group. As I mentioned, I don't own all the stories so I'll be posting the original three from me, here. If you grow to love these guys, Cia has allowed me to post a link to the rest of the storyline. It's not all of the Sanitaria Springs stories, but they are the ones that follow these characters and the newer generation - some of which my friend Cynus has already posted here at GA. Check it out here: https://www.gayauthors.org/story/dabeagle/sanitariasprings There are link so the doghouse Facebook page as well as a page for the complete story of Alec, Sasha and the gang. Dave
