  1. This is a discussion topic for anyone who wants to converse, leave honest feedback, or just wonder and take part in the world of Oregon in the Fall—a story first and exclusively posted to GA starting in December 2023. Hey everyone :3 This story has been marinating in my head, with sprinkles here and there in various forms of text documents, revisions, and dreams. It was a mess. It took over a decade to finally push myself to assemble it together, rewrite some parts (over and over again) that I was sure never worked, and edit furiously. It is the first writing I've ever shown anyone. I know the theory, but just had to put it out there. Having said that, while many things are set it stone, I just submitted a chapter to moderation that was probably 50% new stuff. Your feedback has been so kind and generous, with every single word an absolute encouragement. I am humbled. And I thank you with all my heart. Not only is this a community of like-minded beings, kind and queer, understanding and open, you all—and no one else—are helping me hone my craft. Deep and honest feedback, as well as light-hearted banter and theories about the world I am putting out there, are the most fun I've had in a very long time. This is about Grey and Dave, and all their family and friends past, present, and future. It is about those that we care about the most, the families we make for ourselves. A fantastic tale about nature and magic. I am really bad at accepting a compliment bordering on self-deprecation, I now sit here, a tiny bit shaky, and saying thank you again. Excuse me while I go hyperventilate in the kitchen.
  2. I've debated for the longest time to start up a forum on my first-ever adventure in writing, and after posting the 22nd chapter, and after the intense praise from the comments and hitting 30k views, I felt the need to create this. My story, Love in the Shadows, is a para-normal gay romance that follows an Alpha wolf shapeshifter, Mason Wilson, who quickly finds his destined mate, Vincent Bolton. Vincent, a mage capable of clairvoyancy and controlling ice and shadows, works at a grocery store. Living in the town temporarily, he continues to hunt down the evil mage that murdered his parents when he was nine-years old. As Mason attempts to woo his mate, Vincent continues to hone his skills, study more on the supernatural and magical worlds, and track down Stefan Gregoro, a maleficent mage who, also can control shadows, along with fire. As our two heroes develop their relationship, Vincent learns to integrate within the shifter community and get accustomed to Mason's accompaniment. The story involves deep romance, perilous fight scenes, and unexpected twists along the way. With this being my first story ever, I am seeking comments and criticism actively. I want to become a better writer. Plain and simple. Writing this story has been one of the only hobbies that I have kept up with. My hobbies usually end with me stopping halfway through and ending with abandonment. My thirst for writing has begun, and with this wonderful community around me, I ask to be given a shot. My hope is to create something that will inspire future endeavors in the writing community.
  3. I thought since I've made a few chapters for my first story on this site I'd make a discussion thread for it. It seems to have garnered a good reception so far which I am quite pleased about. Feel free to ask any questions you might have about the story's world, the characters themselves, or other elements that might strike your fancy. Whether or not I'll properly answer said questions depends on how spoiler heavy I feel the answer would be. I'm interested to hear what people who've read it so far think.
  4. Hi, I'm taking my lead from Carlos and expanding on his idea. I have decided to combine all my Unison Island stories into one forum topic to aid readers in finding the stories and to help me in keeping up with comments to the stories. Stories in order are: Book 1 - Welcome to Unison Island - An introduction to the world I created. Book 2 - Jamie and Andrew Book 3 - Adam and Ben - Author Note - This is also available to FREE download in the eBook section. Book 4 - Buried Treasure - Author Note: This story was my first attempt at writing in the first person and I am in the process of rewriting it to fill in some gaping holes. Book 5 - The Mouse that Roared - Unison Island Spin offs. Book 1 - Thane, Harry and Eddy - Christmas special Book 2 - Let Me In - Prompt Shorts: Prompt 313 - You're not listening - Set after Book 3 of Unison Island Prompt 307 - Please Dear - Set after book 3 of Unison Island Prompt 315 - Marry Me - Deleted scene from Book 5 of Unison Island Prompt 318 - Fayres Fair - Part of Chapter 9 of Book 2 of Unison Island Prompt 321 - I'm not staying there - Set between Books 3&4 of Unison Island Prompt 323 - Pictures v Actions - Deleted scene from Book 5 of Unison Island Prompt 325 - Love in the woods - Additional scene for Book 3 of Unison Island Prompt 332 - Birth or Torture - Additional scene for Book 3 of Unison Island Prompt 336 - Tea Anyone??? - Set after Book 5 of Unison Island Prompt 372 - Babysitting, the cat way - Set after Book 5 of Unison Island Prompt 376 - She said what!!! - Set after Book 5 of Unison Island All comments are welcomed. Be they suggestions, corrections or just general. Thank you for taking an interest in this topic. Caz
  5. I don't wanna seem too pretentious but I figured I'd start a thread for my story "A Frigid Grasp" since I'm continuing the series. [sharedmedia=stories:stories:4876] A Frigid Grasp covers the story of Arden as he lives out his life in the city-state of Bosefestung as a traveling healer aimed for public service. Because of his advocacy, he ends up tangled in the politics and drama of the city, something he wished to avoid. I'd appreciate it if you guys could tell me your thoughts and speculations and whatever you think of the story. I'm really aiming to complete this thing along with a few others.
  6. This is a thread for the current project I am working in which would contain seven parts. I consider this as my biggest project as of the moment because it offers a lot of lore that will be featured in multiple future spin offs (if my time would permit me, LOL). It is entitled Gateway Saga and the first book is called Into the Oblivion. Also, this one is a reboot because there were a lot of things that I decided to change, especially those that will not really be beneficial. Then I also added some other stuff that could hasten the flow of the plot. An example of this the character of Nikki. Into the Oblivion features two main characters, Chance and Nikki. They have separated story lines as stated on the chapters. The plot revolves around Chance Valentine as he encounters mages from the realm of Etheria. But he didn't know that there are actually a lot of other things that were at stake. While Nikki Ellison's story focuses on him discovering his powers. His perspective will feature more lore on the Etherian realm. There will be a lot of fighting and other elements will be gradually thrown into the fray. I just hope that this thread can be a good avenue to exchange ideas and criticisms. As usual, my writings will be focused on the characters and how they evolve to be a better person.
  7. I'm presently working on two vastly different projects but I'm going to list both here in hopes of finding a brave soul to read and rip things apart before I go begging for an editor to fix everything again once the beta and I have finished. This is for the longer project. Project 1 - Dragon's Hoard Presently two complete chapters of an on going project. Needed - Someone willing to give honest opinions and feed back. I'm not perfect or a prima donna. Being told that the story is wonderful is always nice, but not looking to have my ego stroked. Need someone not afraid to grab their red pen and tell me where I have too much detail or not enough. Am I getting my point across or as a reader are you lost? My writing usually involves fantasy and relationships. If this doesn't interest you feel free to skip this request. Because this isn't finished yet I can't say how long the story will be. Most of my stories go between six to twelve chapters, so if you agree just be aware of the full project. Don't be afraid to keep on me for more, this will not go to the editor or be put on site until complete. Sample - Seth strode nervously back and forth before the large fireplace. Something was bothering him and he couldn’t figure out what it was. He paused before a large window, staring out into the dark night, watching the snow swirl as it fell past him. The trees waved their skeletal limbs in the wind that was blowing. “I don’t know what is wrong, but I intend to find out,” he whispered to himself. Grabbing his jacket from the chair, Seth nearly flew across the room, slipping it on as he headed out into the hallway. He found himself nearly running down the hall, but as he reached the stairway he stopped and looked around. “Come out, Daniel. I know you are there. A shadow seemed to move from the hallway and suddenly a tall thin man in a dark suit stood before Seth. “You called for me, Sir.” Daniel stood at perfect attention, appearing as though this late night mission was a common occurrence. Seth shook his head. “Something is wrong, Daniel. I’m not sure what it is. Have the men check the property immediately!” “Yes, Sir. Right away, Sir!” Seth watched as Daniel nearly flew down the staircase and vanished from view. As he made his way down the stairs he sense that something was wrong only increased. He took a deep breath, and removed his coat. He crossed over to the lounge, opening the door wide, and turned on all the lights in the room. He tossed his coat on the nearest chair and looked around the room. Then, to keep himself occupied, he worked on lighting the fire in the fireplace. “Who left all the lights on? I’ll have … oh, I’m sorry, I didn’t see you there, Angel.” Seth looked up to find Valerie standing in the doorway. Her raven tresses now shot through with silver, did little to mar her beauty. She stood straight as a tree, but her figure was still that of young maid. Her smile gave no trace of her age, but she had been his nursemaid, teacher, and was one of the few people that Seth could count on growing up. If this interests you feel free to contact me. Thank you. Wayne aka comicfan
  8. Hello, everyone, I'm currently in remission, and feeling pretty good. The first place I want to be is here, on the GA web page and in the GA forums. Hope this will last! Here's the good news. (Okay, from my prospective, anyway.) The entire first story, "Book of Heroes: George of Sedona") has been revised. When we (the translation team) started this effort, we had some problems with the protagonists' names (the "Heroes" in the "Book of Heroes") and thought it would be "cute" to use our own names for the characters. (Cute, and a little wish fulfillment, too.) Anyway, as we continued, we started seeing links between stories that helped us tie characters in one life to the same person in another life. So, "David" in the George of Sedona story was I. But, his real name: Arthur. In addition, the "George" story has been revised to cut out some unnecessary stuff. It's been "tightened up." If you liked the original, I hope that you'll check out the new version, just re-posted. Thank you to all the folks on www.gayauthors.com who have made this possible. Love to you all, David
  9. Jonas Marks is your average teenager. He just graduated from high school and is awaiting a chance to go to college in the fall. The only problem is the fact he is gay, and made the huge mistake of coming out to his homophobic father. When he is thrown out of his house and ends up living on his friend Jenny's couch, Jonas knows the time has come to alter his life. However, in trying to get his life back on track he takes a job at Kroger's, a place well known for the rich items they sell. The problem is Jonas' new boss isn't like anyone else, in fact, he isn't completely human. Jonas' life has taken a strange turn and before it is over his life will never be the same again. Special thanks go to Andy (better known to most as Quonos10) - who said the Anthology piece really needed to become a full story and stepped in as the beta to make sure it happened, and to Frostina - who as usual has stepped in to prevent me from screwing this up as she edits it for me.
