Greetings everyone! It occurred to me that since this is the gift-giving season, we should share with you that GA does have a built-in Gift Card system that you can use to gift Premium Content (or credit for eBooks). But first, let me get to the why Premium? Everyone who has been on the Internet for awhile and is familiar with the other story sites like Gay Authors knows that there are basically 4 business options out there: A private or small group that covers the cost of running the site and everything associated with it. Advertising covers cost of running the site. Donations cover the cost of running the site and everything associated with it. Freemium Model (GA), where there are tiered membership and advertising with most content being free. The biggest site out there is, of course, Nifty. They have advertising, but they mostly run on donations. When Gay Authors started 15 years ago, we also ran on the good graces of others. I found that trying to juggle grad school and never knowing if the bills were going to be covered month to month on Gay Authors was just too stressful. I decided early on that we were going to hitch our wagon to the advertising wagon, and, when we started making enough to cover the cost of the bills, we stopped taking donations. Now, advertising tends to fluctuate a lot day to day and month to month. For a long time, we were able to keep our growing costs under the curve of the fluctuating ad revenues. However, we eventually hit the point where the costs of running the server were exceeding the revenue we could get to cover it. At that point we faced a situation where we had to decide whether to go back to a mixed advertising/donation model. From the beginning, and to this day, I'm not comfortable with that model. I want to provide value to our members with an explicit promise, that if you pay for premium, I'll keep the doors open. We'll provide you with additional content AND we won't show you ads. This has worked very well over the years. What you get for Premium: You keep Gay Authors Open for Everyone. You get to browse the site ad-free without hurting the site like Ad Blockers do. You get additional stories that aren't available elsewhere. Or, they might be available as paid eBooks. You help authors that are involved in Premium. We compensate authors via different options like buying rights to use the story for Premium, by advertising for the author, helping the author with self-publishing through services. We also are an honest to goodness publisher with our own block of ISBN numbers that we can assign to eBooks or other options. You can also use the Gift Card system to purchase a membership for your friends who might not be able to cover the cost of a subscription. The Gift card option is right on the front page of the store: https://www.gayauthors.org/store/ To get one, just click the Buy Button. Then, select the color for your gift card. Fill in the card. Select the amount. (The prices correspond to the various subscription options for Premium) Choose to send via email or print it out. Add to cart. Select your payment method and checkout. If you used email, you're done. If you printed, you have a redemption code for the gift card amount. Share that with the person you wish to gift it. Redeeming the code is easy. "Redeem" is right next to "Buy" in the picture above. Click redeem and enter the code. It will put credit in your account which will be visible in the store, and you can go make your purchase. The system uses account credits before billing anything else. Thank you all for supporting Gay Authors through the years! Myr

Well, I am glad to see this story again. It is so well written and so imaginative. It has been awhile since I read this story for the first time, but it seems different to me. I thought I saw DK post somewhere that he was rewriting it. Does anyone know if it is much different then it was, or am I just delusional?

comicality Lost In Question By Comicality

Thought I'd start a thread to discuss Lost in Question. Wondering if anyone else has read Chapter one of the story, and what they think of it so far? It personally got my interest right away. Unfortunately as a reader, but not for the author, we were left without too much information about the Dillon and Conner. It would be fair to guess that even though Dillion is a jock and maybe confused about these new feelings that have come over him that he is realizing that it is that he is gay. But what about Conner? He may have the traits of being gay if you believe in sterotypes. But has he really done anything 'gay' ? Also, we are getting Conner's description through Dillon's eyes, which maybe blurred at the moment. I definitely am looking forward to seeing where this stroy is going. Thanks for sharing Steve -

Comfort Only is a FANTASTIC new story. The plot, the characters, the prose - all first rate. I got a sneak peak of it from Myr and have not stopped raving about it since. Definitely a story I highly recommend. If you have any comments on the chapters posted so far, chime in!

Comicfan Comicfan - Coin In The Fountain
comicfan posted a topic in Promoted Author Discussion Forum
Everyone has a wish, but what happens when you get what you wish for? Is it perfect? Is it really what you want? Will you change the wish or will the wish change you? Dan didn't know what he was in for when he went to visit his grandmother. Sometimes you can't help what you do, even when you are warned not to. Not everyone gets the happily ever after that Disney promised. For a wish is magic, and magic always comes at a price. Careful when you toss that coin in the fountain, you might just be paying more than you thought you were. Comments are always welcome. I hope you enjoyed. -
Dr. Aron Adler is ordered to take part in a rescue mission to a research colony located on an uninhabited planet in the outer rim. He is to immediately report to the U.S.C. Cassini, which will take Aron, two other scientists, and a unit of Union Marines to the colony. Once there, they are to assess the situation and retrieve any data or specimens. Formerly a scientist in the Union Navy, Aron was dishonorably discharged following a court-martial for failing to obey orders. Stepping foot on the Cassini brings up old feelings he would rather forget. Shunned by the crew of the Cassini, Aron finds comfort in the arms—and bed—of Marine corporal Kane Robertson. Upon reaching the colony, it becomes apparent that not everything is as it seems. Once again, Aron is faced with a difficult decision: follow orders or follow his heart. Read It Now!!

I intend this topic to be a general discussion of the story. I'll start with my hopes. First, I don't think I want or need to see a continuation of Chapter 1. Near the end, I had to stop a couple of times to breath and regroup. Before continuing I found myself glancing at the scroll bar to assure myself that I was almost done. I'm hoping for an honest portrayal of what it takes to bring Shade back from hell. I have high hopes for Dory, and would not be surprised if he guards Shade like a Doberman. This would force Dory to deal head on with the effects of Shade's abuse. I cannot yet imagine how he'll cope. I doubt Dory's had a challenge he could really sink his teeth into before (sorry ), so we don't yet know what he can do. How these two kids can be "adorable together" while they struggle over all of this is beyond me right now, but Nephylim will enlighten me.

This story was a long time coming. Over a year in the gathering of our windblown wits and then..... the challenge. Can three people who write similar themes bring those themes into focus and entwine factors from each others independent stories somehow back into our own? So we set some guidelines and did our best to rock each other's world. Focusing on our strengths and protecting our weakness. I think Cia, Renee, and I pulled of quite the flight of fancy. What do you think?

So for those who are able to see this, I figured I'd set up a topic here. Given this is my first real attempt at fantasy, I was hoping for some feed back. Reviews are awesome, and I love the banter, but I figured people could or would like to use the forums to give me some input. Since my hope is to ePublish this, I'd be glad for any comments. Andy

Hi readers! Check out the story discussion forum for my newest novella posted today, Burden of Secrets, available in the Premium section of GA Stories. I hope you enjoy it. Feel free to hit me with questions, thoughts, criticisms, mentions of typos (pesky things always seem to slip through from time to time) or anything else you might think up! Burden of Secrets by Cia Description: They both have secrets they want to hide. Chris isn't out and his break-up with a waitress at the restaurant his father owns, and he's interning at, results in a lot of pain for someone else. He has to take care of Niel as much as he has to hide how much he wants him. There's something about him that draws Chris in. But Niel's hiding too, from some very bad ... people. Will he have the courage to tell Chris everything and will Chris still want him afterward?
