LittleBuddha TW,
Back in Chapter 14, you wrote, “I wondered what Christmas morning was like at Jack’s house, and I cringed. I imagined it was nothing like my family. Probably no presents. No Christmas music. No cheer or joy. It was probably just like any other day to them, and Jack deserved so much better.”
So, let me humbly suggest that you give Jack his first (real) Christmas in the next book. Presents, not just from Nick and his mom, but from the rest of the family – grandparents, etc. Have Santa Claus visit, as I’m sure Jack never had the childhood Santa Claus experience (or even worse, Jack’s parents telling him that Santa would never visit him…).
Next year, have the boys get a real tree and decorate it together. Bring back the Christmas joy, lost when Nick’s father died, back to the house.
I have immensely enjoyed your work, and I’m sure that I’ll have withdrawal symptoms when you finish publishing this first story. I honestly think, with a little bit of editing, you could publish this book. I know I would buy it!
Thank you for writing this and sharing it with us.
