  1. For discussion of themes and topics. The book can be found here: https://www.gayauthors.org/story/timothy-m/cluelesscamping
  2. My modest Swedish friend didn't set up a story topic for her first story Thaw, but with the sequel Frost now posting, I think it's time we had a place to rant and post pictures, songs and links to all those great Scandinavian places and things. In other words WELCOME to the story topic forum of Thaw and Frost by Puppilull aka Sister Sweden I hope you'll join me here for discussions of Joel and Lucas and all the fun they get up to.
  3. An ingenious mapmaker has posted a map of Europe, featuring well known paintings as the graphic for each territory. Can you name the paintings belonging to the European countries? Maybe it's more a game for fellow European GA-members. But I know, at least the countries are no problem for @Drew Espinosa Original page, where you can make the picture larger. But be warned, on that page all the paintings are listed below.
  4. I asked around and there was interest in chatting some more about my story 'Red Running Shoes' . Description: Come meet quirky, irrational, impulsive Jonah, who sometimes runs when life gets too much for him. This time he is in Sicily, Italy. What else? Oh yes. He talks to Zach, his imaginary friend in his laptop, collects people who want to take care of him, and possessive, manipulative boyfriends. When I read about food or music in stories I sometimes want to listen to the songs or try out the recipe. I thought there may be others like me, so I'll attach links to songs and dishes mentioned to each chapter . Prologue and the first two chapters are posted. Next chapter will have two time lines: the journal timeline and the Sicily timeline I'm always curious to hear your thoughts, ideas, suggestions, critique.
  5. Hey guys, seeing as Gemini is going slow, and I needed a break to get some new inspiration, I decided to translate one of my favorite stories to English. A huge thanks to Amon, the author of "Die Maschine", for giving me permission! And let's not forget MrM, LillyLee and Nostic, who have helped me make this work. Thank you! This is the bittersweet tale of a German teenager's coming of age. When I was translating this story, I quickly realized I was hitting my limits. Some things just cannot be transferred from one language to another without loss. Instead of trying to rewrite the the whole story, I decided to in doubt go with Amon's way to express things. Therefore at times (or maybe all the time), this story might seem like a foreigner is narrating it. I quite like how it turned out and I hope rather than irritate, it will add to the story. This is the place to discuss the story, but also to ask questions about the background or in case you didn't understand anything (be it language or story related). Sadly, the original chapters are short-ish for GA standards. I will try to make up for it with more frequent posts. Have fun! Sammy [sharedmedia=stories:stories:5261]
  6. I am part of a team of medics and support staff and volunteers working in North America and the EU in a counseling rôle in assisting teenage members of refugee and asylum-seeking families with lifestyle issues. My team is particularly focussed on issues surrounding non-traditional sexual orientation, but within the context of everything else of course: new country, language, political and legal system, children's rights, gender equality, social system and etiquette, religious and moral norms, ethics and cultural ethos; in short, the works! So, these 11-17 year-olds are dealing with the nightmare of their raging pubescent hormones whilst all the rest of their known world has also undergone a tectonic shift. As there are currently only eight of us working as team leaders in this specialty - three in the US, and one each in Canada, Germany, Sweden, Spain and the UK - we are seeing only a tiny fraction of those referred to us and those only twice monthly. As a consequence, my colleagues and I have found good, age-appropriate stories with a strong, supportive message to be one excellent resource we can call upon between our sessions with those we call our protégés. I need your help finding these. We begun a very amateurish blog a few weeks ago seeking help from writers and others because we simply do not have time to trawl the web to find the right stuff. I am probably breaking the code of etiquette of webism or whatever by doing this, but I'm desperate. If you have time, and have a care for LGBT Asylum-seeking teens, please read some of the posts on www.daktaris.WordPress.com and either reply to me there, or comment here or email me directly. We desperately need your input. We also need simple moral support, just to feel somebody among the community cares about these kids. At present we are beginning to think we are speaking into an uncaring black hole. Blessings. Doc.
