Solace - 1. Chapter 1

A girl cries out for help. She's alone. The ones who called her beautiful gone, fallen away with their falsities and shallow words. The ones she loved turn away, her pain a disease they have no wish to catch.

She's shrouded in darkness. Her skin ripped from her skin by her own fingernails. Her clothes in tatters and her hair wild with fear. She screams silently, her mouth open in agony.

She claws at her chest, desperate to rid herself of the offensive organ within her. With every pound, a new wave of torment tears away at her decaying mind. Her only conclusion is relief. Sweet, black relief.

Tearing through her ribcage, she extracts her still beating heart. She stares down one last time at her mutilated body. Knowing relief is close, calm settles over her. The pain is no match for her deranged determination.

With a howl, she crushes her warm heart between her fingers. She sees blood streaming from the gaping hole in her chest as her world finally fades to black.

She smiles.
