NaPoWriMo 2020: Postcards from the Pandemic

By Valkyrie, in Poetry. 03/31/2020 (Updated: 05/03/2020)

April is National Poetry Writing Month (NaPoWriMo), and the challenge is to write 30 poems (one per day) throughout the month. This year, I decided to do something a little different. Each day (or every other day, depending on my mood) I will write a 'postcard'--a short poem about my daily dealings with the COVID-19 pandemic. I will also write other poems as the mood (and daily prompts) strike me. I think it will be an interesting exercise to see how the poems change across the course of the month.

    The Forgotten Archive

By crucifixcrusader, in Poetry. 10/01/2014 (Updated: 01/31/2020)

The darkness festers throughout the vast cosmos in many ways, through war, famine, greed and more, this collection showcases this darkness that exists all around. From the tortured individual to the battlefields of distant lands. This darkness grows, and this archive exists to catalog it. The archive will continue to catalog these findings, as the darkness grows ever closer to us, we are prepared to meet it with observant eyes, and open minds.

  12. Ravings of a Rabid Werewolf - Poetry by Wolf

By WolfM, in Poetry. 12/27/2018 (Updated: 01/25/2020)

As I push my boundaries, I learn more about this type of writing. My comfort level increases and hopefully my skill improves. Unlike writing larger stories where the canvas I paint on is vast, there is a beauty in writing poetry and telling a story or drawing an images in a few words.

So, I'm not a poet, but I started putting my feelings into words lately and this came out. I thought poems had to be romantic, this... this is not that.
