Prince Duchess Posted March 30, 2010 Posted March 30, 2010 So I was looking up quotes the other day and ran across this one. It kinda hit home for me abruptly as I wasnt expecting for it to be so deep. So I wanna know what this quote means to you guys. “Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It's not just in some of us; it's in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.” -Marianne Williamson
NightOwl88 Posted March 31, 2010 Posted March 31, 2010 To me, and I could be completely wrong here, it means that by letting ourselves be controlled by fear we are not only demeaning ourselves but our brothers and sisters as well. Each of us has the power to be a strong postive force in the world, if only in a small way, but by abdoning that power because of fear we slip in to apathy, monotony and dissconnection. Instead of standing up for ourselves and others and the world itself we allow fear to brow beat us into a state of non-action as we watch the world and civilization slowly crumble into dust to be scattered by the winds of time and decay. As I said, i could be wrong, and this entry is subject to change....this is just what came to be off top of my head after reading. Best Wishes, Nightowl.
