  1. Thank you, @astone2292 , for the great questions and spotlight! To any potential readers: I haven't been able to keep a consistent uploading schedule this year because of grad school and a multitude of life stuff, but don't let that keep you from giving YCM a read if it appeals to you! There are over 20 chapters with 4k+ words and I hope to gradually return to regular updates in the latter half of the year.
  2. That's not an easy answer with my somewhat chaotic writing process, haha. In short, the story was about technically about 90% complete when I started sharing it, and about 50% of it is currently available. However, I started it in 2020 without any plans for anyone to read it, so I've been reworking it as I upload chapters. Looking at the story more as a reader than an author ended up making me want to take it at a slower pace and give it more depth. If you end up giving it a read, you'll definitely notice my writing style improve over time as I figured out how I wanted to convey the story.
  3. Update: Don't worry, still writing! Ran into some (not serious) snags, but still trucking.
  4. Soon! If you live in the States, let's just say I'm shooting for a holiday release 😉
  5. More than halfway done with it, but unfortunately I've been stuck there for the past month because of school 🙃 I'm hoping to finally wrap it up within the next few weeks!
  6. Glad to be back! Samwell was going to make an appearance at the end of the chapter, but it was already long enough. He'll be back in the next one.
  7. Nic was already awake when his alarm went off, but that didn’t mean he was ready to get up. He tossed and turned on the sleeper sofa that had become his new bed until he found a position that didn’t result in a metal post sticking into him and groaned. He was used to not getting great sleep, but the cot was making him close to reconsidering his decision to move into the Ensings’ basement. Nic curled up around his phone to scroll and waste time, but instead was greeted with several direct message
  8. Coming right up! The chapter is done and I'm just obsessively editing. It should be up sometime tomorrow and it will be a long one...Thanks for sticking with it!
  9. Knock knock, anyone there? 🙃 I've finally emerged from piles of books and papers and overcame a spell of writer's block... I'm almost 5k words into the next chapter! I'll post it sometime this weekend regardless, but I'm curious to see if anyone besides me is still interested in seeing where this goes.
  10. I'm also surprised at how deep (convoluted?) it's become. A few years ago it started out as a few pages of porn-with-plot that I kept gradually adding to until it was more plot than porn and we ended up here.
  11. I'm only giving this a sad react because I honestly got a bit emotional after reading it - in a good way. I know the feeling of not being able to put down a book, but I never thought I was capable of getting that sort of reaction from my own writing. I hope you didn't get penalized because of me, but keeping feeding my ego like that and this story will never end 😅
  12. I would never do something like this myself...but I probably wouldn't try to stop it, either.
  13. I want her to do well as a lawyer; she definitely has the potential and shrewdness, just not the confidence to trust her own ability and intellect (I know the feeling well). That being said, her criticism of Jake's dependency on drugs could be read as very hypocritical, especially with the plans I have for her 😈. Thanks for the comment and the congrats! And don't worry, the only person pressuring me was myself. I just realized it would be a good time to let the readers know what's up. I hate it when authors of stories I like disappear for months without warning, though I understand that life just gets in the way sometimes. I can't say I won't ever have to unexpectedly take more than a few weeks off of writing, but if I do, I'd definitely keep everyone updated!
  14. Nic was in the parking lot of his old home without any recollection of getting there. Wait, that wasn’t true, Nic told himself as he shook off the amnesia. He wasn’t dissociating, or whatever it was called, because things weren’t that bad. The details of the drive over were fuzzy, but not completely gone. He’d left the bathroom at school, red-eyed and sniffling, and he had decided right then and there that school wasn’t the place to be right now. He just didn’t know why the old, ding
