Jungle Fever - 1. Chapter 1

It’s every black man’s fantasy

Believe me I know

But why…

Do I myself feel so compelled to pay closer attention?

To the race on the other side

Why O why does everybody tell me it’s wrong

But god it feels oh so right

Why does race a simple difference in appearance

Set my nerves on fire

Physical features racing from

Blond and red hair

To blue and green eyes

Makes my heart beat twice

Does it make me less different?

Or does it take away from my blackness?

To have this undying attraction

To the sexy, edible vanilla skin

It just drives me crazy to reach out

And get a taste

Of this forbidden fruit

So much that it drives me insane

But why?

Why must this be forbidden or so looked down upon

To the point where we can no longer be civil

It’s not my fault that I have an undying love

For white guys

It’s no different than having

A favorite flavor of ice cream

You don’t know why

But you just do

And now I sit here

Like a pedophile

Thinking of all the dudes

Just begging for a real nigga

To break em off

Oreo or Uh-Oh Oreo style

All I know is

This attraction won’t die

And now I’m stuck picking

Fruit from the forbidden tree
