2010 - Winter - Haunted Entry

Consider Arbitrary - 1. Consider Arbitrary

Consider

The illusion

Of spring

Green

Yellow

Dew

Lilac bows and light ribbons

Decoration

Wholly alive, wholly awake

Bursting

Charismatic

Death shadows

Endlessly sings risk

Butterfly cries

Deer eyes

Denial comes easy

Forever and forever

Time stands still

Everlasting moments

Eternity

With all your art

Of loving

Deceiving me from

Approaching

Pain

Compelled

I give chase, ah

Surrender

I trap you

My fair ecstasy

To lose

The entirety

Of my being

Urgent

The climatic passion

Of seed

Sky and imagination

Joined by will

But hunger sated

Say everything

In whispers

A seamless fit

You love me now

As I love you

Know all that I know

Just hold on to me

Forgive my need

Feel my hard desire

Ardent

Beguiling shyness

I have

Will

Concede

Even my life

My all

I take but give more

I take but am indebted

I take all your smiles

I must have for all time

I would yield to you

But you never ask

I lift you up

I kneel to you

I offer you praise

I cling to you

Upon the ground

Bliss

Light

Flourish

Fate

Once

Twice

Thrive

Misery

Doubt

Anger

Jealousy

Imprudent spring

Merciful pardon

Compassionate

Sweet breeze

Fervent

Obsessed

Sincere

Arbitrary

The bloom

Of winter

Black

Gray

Hoar

Purple frowns and dark green

Complexion

Half evergreen, half dormant

Desiccation

Solitary

Life haunts death

Love pains expiry

Raven, sighs

Wolf, howls

Promises never forgotten

Pulling forward

Night and day

Day and night

An ending

To the cold heart

Of leaving

Brings me forward

Toward my spring

Again

Voluntary

I let go, now

Finally

I turn from you

My winter mood

To find

The beginning

Of soul sighs

Respite

The inevitable salvation

Of man

Meadow and view

You are free

But bittersweet

Say goodbye

Wishes

What nonsense

You will haunt me forever

As I hunt you

Judge not my grudge

Hold to the spirit

Behind the blame

See my hand caressing

Arrogance

Bewildering need

I can’t…

Won’t

Surrender

What my love

My hate

You give me kindness

You give me gentleness

You give me laughter

You give me time, all the time

You give me a hard time

You stand up to me

You put me down

You go down on me

You pick me up

You turn me round

And you pound

Demise

Fall

Ruin

Fatal

Finish

Loss

Bereave

Joy

Wonder

Thrill

Pleasure

My winter sulk

My temper hot

Passion killer

Biting chill

Indifferent

Uninvolved

Fakery

Loss or gain

I have to live

I have to die

Taunts me

Haunts me

So why not

Flaunt my

Sarcasm

My favorite place to be

Till spring comes

And winter stalks

Fantastic poem that you have here Bug. It's very emotional, whether you choose to read the left side first, or the right side first or read them altogether by just going left to right across the gulf in the middle.

I love your structure and stanzas and I did notice that if you used two words on the left, that you also used two words on the right and so on and so forth. I also noticed that structurally, it looked like a conscious effort to use the same kind of word, i.e. if you began with a verb on the left you started also with a verb on the right.

My comment mostly is that there were a couple of lines here and there that didn't quite match up. Like you started with a verb on one side and then a preposition on the other. Or, that you had three words on one and only two on the other. It made it so that in this particular stanza, it was asymmetrical and I thought perhaps that you were aiming for symmetry? But due to the content, you may have also been aiming for asymmetry? If you would like, I'll post which ones I noted didn't match up in the discussion thread. Otherwise I will assume that this was intended and won't point them out to you.

Anyways, a great read. I love poetry.

I hope you are not offended by this but this poem, I compare to some of Dylan Thomas little known poems. Dylan was a drunkard. It was said that he composed under milkwood and his rythming/alliteration poetry when he was drunk. When he was sober he wrote poetry based on form, where the shape gave meaning and could be read in different ways according to direction. This poem beats his poems outstandingly. I thinks this deserves a number of reading to get the full beauty of the peom. Beautiful.

Thank you Kavrik, I don't know why I am so very self conscious about these poems. After all I wrote them and posted them. Thanks for a thoughtful comment.

Thank you Red A, I'm not offended, but Dylan Thomas might be. :P I am not really that well read, I am just crazy enough to try something I know nothing about. :P
