Aftermath - 1. Poem
AFTERMATH
by Hylas
The lips that brimmed with spite and ire,
Now lie cold and voiceless,
Death mutes the hero's screams,
And dims the spirit's fire
Silence...
Blood flows from silent blades,
Sated reavers of life,
Crimson ghosts of shattered dreams,
Mourners of the fallen
Blood...
The phoenix dies a fiery death,
The brief flames of sunset,
The air resounds with songs of wolves,
Darkness veils the battlefield
Nightfall...
Wings of souls occult the moon,
The stars hide in sorrow,
Lightning rends the sable sky,
Weeping tears of anger
Rain...
The spirits laugh at mortal fools,
Dancing on the scattered shields,
Whispers in the branches,
Peace, at last descends on us
Death.
