An Understanding - Prologue. Prologue

I will tell this story as truthfully as I can. I may fail in parts and I may exaggerate; but wholly, this will be me. This will be an account of what brought me to where I am and who I am and what I am.

I've always felt special, I've always felt set apart. Being one of the first children of a new age, one that psychologists and teachers would go on to call a "millennial", you must understand there was an expectation present and certainly always enforced, especially if said expectation wasn't met. It was under this, my tiny iron curtain, that I grew and became the man I am today. Set aside was the pedant need for constant approval, reciprocation; no, my life has been lived in service of others and the expectations therein.

Saying that now, it sounds as though I may dislike the person I've become or the burdens that were laid upon me on the journey. That I may have finally reached my broach and this, these words on this page are my shouted "fuck you!" But they aren't.

At least that's what I think.
