Darkness Prevails - 1. Poem

‘Do I know you?’

Asks the mirror from the other side of destiny.

Rebellion in the shadow of darkness

Knows...

Neither you nor me can conquer fate, but

Either you or I shall fight till the end!

‘Sure?’

‘Sure... sure, my friend!’

Pale moonbeam and dusty boots,

Raging through the concrete jungle of eternity:

Eternity – A curse!

Vesuvius embraces the Universe

And his seven sons, while

I wait... and I cry...

Lonely harp's eloquent silence prevails till dawn -

Soon we can leave... Live... Forever...

Live forever!?!?!

Hmmm. I had to double take this poem, and though it was so wide for interperations and quite litle to work with I still loved it. I felt the words chosen flowed beautifully and I really had to think the meaning of this poem so it did it's job. It wasn't casual to me :)

I see the phrase, but I don't won't to spoil others reading it. But it sets the poem in perspective. I would like to hear the whole story. This poem implies.

Thank you so much Sam. I'm glad that you understood the duality in the poem. the poem itself is the whole story, if you ask me. :) The poem was a result of my state of mind at the time, mostly in regards to death, close people on life support, and the helplessness of the relatives around. To me the positiveness in the end implies the ones departing and the darkness prevails for those they leave behind.

Thanks Maria :) It really isn't a casual poem. and yes, it conveyed meanings that can be interpreted differently. Like i explained to Sam, it reflects my state of mind at the time. Thank you for reading and reviewing it.
