Our Time - 1. Poem

Our Time

By
Moonwolf

Over the years,
Defenses I built.
Joy, sadness, love became shadows,
My home was duty.

Random meeting, a candle burning
And a faint knock at the entrance.
My gate remained shut,
I bleed too many times.

Hardships of the past,
Caring he showed.
A history of wounds,
Understanding I gave.

A soft knock at my door
And a glimpse of sun
Slicing the darkness,
Cracking the walls

Time passed,
A key I offered,
Reluctant he didn't want it,
Time he needed, healing to be done.

Friends he wanted to stay,
He showed more.
I knew it could work,
Yet we were scared.

That key I offered,
He took it without knowing
And disabled one of my alarms.
A beat I felt, joy filled me.

Awaiting an answer that never came,
He still had time to give it and remain true.
Troubled I felt, a stab I felt,
Liquid dripping from the heart, yet hope remained.

Till then the door remained shut,
Sadness came to the surface
Walking back to my shadows,
Forgiveness asked, I turned back.

An unexpected visitor,
A close friend.
Jitters had me,
For the best or the worst.

We liked each other,
For the best, nothing asked.
Privacy given,
Out of friendship.

A night of emotions,
Everything clicked.
My love my heart,
I was going to give.

In a hotel everything changed,
Our hearts linked,
Our love shared,
With a small kiss.

I said I would fly with him,
I said I would catch him if he falls.
I'll stick by what I vow,
As long as he wants it.

A shield I'll be if he needs it,
Trouble will come one day.
A sword to avenge if needed,
Harm won’t even glimpse at him.

To remain with angel,
My life is no sacrifice.
It’s a fair trade,
He took my shadows away…
