Behaving Responsibly - Prologue. Prologue
Since the story is written in the first person, this brief introduction is in his own words. Enjoy!
My name is Bob (actually Robert William) Stimson, and I’m 76 years old this year. This is my story, or rather, five years of it, beginning with my last semester of high school in 1966 and continuing up to the middle of 1971. I’ll do my best to tell it the way I remember it, but if anyone in the story remembers things differently—well, that’s fine with me. To each his own.
This isn’t an official autobiography. I’m intentionally leaving out things that don’t seem important to me, and I’m skipping over chunks of time that I either don’t remember or don’t care to.
Some of the characters in this story have been given new names to protect their privacy and keep them from suing me for what I say about them. Most of the places are actual, although some have been changed for security reasons.
I am not consciously leaving out anything important that happened in my life or any people who had a major influence on me. However, I am carefully omitting things that were confidential or national secrets. You’ll see why as you read on.
I don’t deny that this story reflects my opinions and evaluations of the things that happened and the people involved. Like I said, this isn’t official history, just a memoir. I think I'll write more of it someday, picking up where this story leaves off, but that all depends on my health and my interest in doing so.
I guess that’s enough introductory BS. Let the story begin!
