the only difference between men and boys is the size of their toys ... I love gadgets and gizzmos and the noisier the better. Found this YouTube vid of an old WWII jet engine that was rescued from a scrapheap and restored - what a fantastic thing to have to play with ! So what stuff do you have or lust after?

I stumbled across this site while poking around for 3d printer information. Wowser. I subscribed. https://makezine.com/ Now, I just need time to read it. lol

So, I have picked up a Raspberry Pi in order to have yet another toy to play with. Though, in this case, it is so I can learn more about them. I don't actually need one. Lol. Anyone else playing with these cute little things for projects?

I have been using a Fitbit Surge for a little over a year. Unfortunately, the Surge was a bit of a dud in the design category. It was one of the few FitBits without a replaceable band... and guess what broke today. If you guess the band, then you get a gold star. Anyway, I like the software quite a bit and I especially like the sleep tracking features, which I really need. So I picked up the cheaper, but more useful Charge 2 to replace my on the way out Surge. This one also has the hourly reminder to get up and move. Another thing I need.

This fits today's theme too... One of the cooler things they have come up with in the last few years are these folding chairs that fit in a bag. I have about a dozen of these in various configurations as they were sturdy, portable and fairly comfortable. I have several different brands in different colors bought in different years. lol. I keep one in the truck all the time and have one in standby just inside the garage door for when I went to sit out in the shade to read or whatever. Do any of you guys have these? do you like them?

One of the things I'm getting more into outside of the computer is woodworking. I'm lightly researching routers and router tables now for a purchase later in the year. This will allow me to do some more work on making some furniture items as well as simple things like frames from plexiglass that I'll need for other things. (Like an enclosure for the 3d printer I'm looking at). Is there anyone out there that enjoys woodworking? what tools do you prefer?

Earlier this year my Samsung Tab S2 finally gave up most of the ghost. It's just the right size (about the size of a book), that I use it heavily for reading purposes. This opened me up to replacing and Samsung no longer makes a small size tablet. In fact, only Apple does with anything that even approaches the power of the Tab S2 I was replacing. So I went with the Apple iPad Mini 6, 64-Bit Wifi version. Like all Apple products, it is solidly built. It's fast and stable. So, it's been replaced as my daily driver for tablet sized reading. It also finally gives me a Safari-based browser to check the site with. So, woot. Solid tool. Hate the screen keyboard. it lacks punctuation without going to extra screens.
