'Style' by Charles Bukowski
As I type this, I hear the following passing conversation outside on the street below-
girl: "Do you have a gaydar?"
guy: "I usually do but it doesn't really work around here because this place has many weird people..."
What a wonderful, cool, interesting couple.

I somewhat have negative thoughts about people who reblog others' established works, only because of the motive behind the reblogger. Unfortunately, I am a victim of this reblogging style (see below), however, I don't give a shit if I do it in sporadic sessions. Yes, it may look like that I'm slightly feeding my ego, but I try to avoid having a "look at me, I like Bukowski, I'm a cultured guy" sort of mindset. Maybe sometimes it's good to circulate other people's work. Every once in a while, I like to share things that I'm interested in. It's natural to let others know what you are into - placing your books collection in a widely visible view, creating music playlists for friends, wearing and supporting certain brands of clothing - it's inevitable. I think a first step is to just avoid arrogance when developing your interests in specific areas. Unfortunately, a lot of people, myself included, cannot avoid this without criticism. It's a good, healthy lesson to learn.
Charles Bukowski wrote, or spoke, some words that I would like to share. This man wrote some weird stuff during his time. My friend described him as "a puppet who puts you into a scenario where you're about to rape someone, and then he immediately pulls and throws you into a totally different yet still similarly fucked up setting". My friend then proceeded to read the 'rape story' aloud. Weird but engaging. I am going to share a poem, but I am not entirely sure if it is a poem or a song or a quotation, so I just incorrectly refer to it as 'that Style poem'. It is very easy for emotions and experiences to be fleeting, and so, I like to read this every now and again. It has a good message and reminds you to naturally make the most of every little detail during your daily doings.
“Style is the answer to everything.
A fresh way to approach a dull or dangerous thing
To do a dull thing with style is preferable to doing a dangerous thing without it
To do a dangerous thing with style is what I call art
Bullfighting can be an art
Boxing can be an art
Loving can be an art
Opening a can of sardines can be an art
Not many have style
Not many can keep style
I have seen dogs with more style than men,
although not many dogs have style.
Cats have it with abundance.
When Hemingway put his brains to the wall with a shotgun,
that was style.
Or sometimes people give you style
Joan of Arc had style
John the Baptist
Jesus
Socrates
Caesar
García Lorca.
I have met men in jail with style.
I have met more men in jail with style than men out of jail.
Style is the difference, a way of doing, a way of being done.
Six herons standing quietly in a pool of water,
or you, naked, walking out of the bathroom without seeing me.”
