AusGlitterati Posted July 3, 2018 Posted July 3, 2018 Hey friends! I marathoned the whole Orange Is The New Black recently and decided to have a crack at writing something set in a prison, if any of you are interested in that kind of thing. It does contain a lot of filthy language though - I wrote it while I was bored and frustrated in hospital 🤐 In a nutshell, Jacoby's happy enough after his sentence was considerably shortened and he's been transferred to a more lax facility after he committed the cardinal sin - he got a confession from another inmate and snitched on them at their trial, but with a dangerous twist. A while later, his actions are starting to catch up with him and there's nowhere to run. Spoiler "Gilmore never said shit to you, did he?" Gray asked, his face contorted in anger and disgust, and Jacoby's guts began to squirm like a pit of snakes in mating season. Oh no. "What are you talking about?" Jacoby steeled himself, meeting the Officer's gaze head-on. "Your statement is a load of crap," Gray accused him. He was furious. Disappointed. "Why would you plan to give false testimony? What the fuck is wrong with you?" Jacoby knew he needed to answer. He could salvage the situation. There was no way Gray could prove that the confession didn't take place. It was Jacoby's word versus Gilmore's, a man who had built an empire on corruption, drugs, murder and, of course, perverting the course of justice. Jacoby was willing to gamble those odds. He couldn't speak, though. He didn't answer. He just stood there looking at the floor. "If this fails, you are completely fucked," Gray hissed at him, shoving his shoulder. "They'll send you back here and charge you with perjury. You could be here for another ten years, and if Gilmore is still found guilty, you will be here with him the whole time - and I won't be protecting you! You're so fucking stupid! I can't believe I thought any better of you. You're just like the rest of them. Typical criminal scum. Shit, you really conned me with those tears, pretending you felt bad about those men you fucking stabbed to death. I won't fall for that again!" "You're not going to tell anyone, are you?" Jacoby begged, his eyes beginning to moisten. He'd come too far to back out now. "You listen to me," Gray pushed Jacoby into the wall and pinned him there. "It's not about you. If you fuck this up, they'll think I was a part of it, and Sullivan too. So you're going to read out your statement and you're going to help put Gilmore away, then you're going to get out of my sight forever. You will never speak about this again. You fucking used me!" Jacoby was almost shaking, looking down at his hands. The guilt's never going to go away, is it? Paul. Kyle. Now all the men he was letting down in here. Stevie. Helping put Gilmore away behind bars was enough for the public - a dangerous criminal locked up where he belongs, but that wasn't what happened. It wasn't like Gilmore was just going "rot in prison." There were people in prison. Criminals, but still people, and now all of them were going to be at the mercy of that psychopath. 4
