  1. Well, Jessy did say in chapter 1 that he was a murderer. Kind of have to do some dark things to be one of those.
  2. "There is an exceedingly dangerous supervillain in the truck. Quietly return to the building and do not interfere," the bounty hunter ordered. We did as instructed. Once inside, Shawn said, "He's planning to kill Harrison Childers and turn his body over to AHOLE." "Is that our Harrison?" "Yes." So Harrison was a meta? I hadn't seen that one coming, but the truth was that we didn't really know him. "If he just wants Harrison, then why did he send us back in the building instea
  3. There are entire series in gay porn about Mormon missionaries.
  4. I'd been driving in silence for hours. The fastest route out of Nevada would've been to take I-80 to California, but that would've put us in the state where AHOLE was most brazen. So I headed east instead, intending to go nonstop to Utah. Shawn kept wincing and grabbing his head but hadn't said anything since telling me the walls were going up and the gates were closing. I'd seen several AHOLE helicopters, so I didn't exactly need an explanation. Finally, he broke the silence. "Next exit, t
  5. Three years later. It was Friday, October 2. Shawn's 26th birthday would be on Sunday, and we had much to celebrate because Reginald Davidson had personally invited us to play against him. Davidson, now in his 60s, had long been in the top tier in the poker community. And it wasn't some assistant who contacted us; it was the man himself. Honestly, it was like getting a royal summons. Mind, he didn't know we were both cheaters, but it still felt like a sense of accomplishment. What I
  6. Hmm, that might prove problematic. I will give a slight spoiler by saying that he does appear in the story again, but it won't be for a while.
  7. Two years later. The thing about having superpowers is that they demand to be used and will activate on their own if neglected. So, Shawn and I were in what was left of a 1990s-era mall on the outskirts of Phoenix. It was halfway through being demolished when work got stalled for some reason or other. No, it wasn't an old, abandoned warehouse, but it would suffice. We were there for Shawn to use his telekinesis (TK) and for me to practice my recently acquired superpower. There isn't mu

    Brave Enough

Thanks. It is fiction, but I tried to realistically capture that age where teens' thoughts are one moment those of a child and the next those of an adult.

    Brave Enough

I think you're right, and I won't be adding to it. The characters became so became so real to me when I wrote it that I felt like they were telling me, "This is all we're sharing with you." In an early draft, I had mention of what happened to them in their college years, but it felt so jarringly out of place that I deleted it.

    Brave Enough

Thanks. Even though it is quite short, I worked a long time on it. I've thought of expanding it, but I don't think that would make it any better.
  11. Caleb Warner didn't think he was a coward, but neither was he particularly brave. He'd accepted the fact that he was gay when he was fourteen but hadn't yet gotten up enough nerve to tell his parents. He didn't think they'd have a problem with having a gay son because they were both well-educated and relatively liberal for a small town. His dad was a pharmacist at the town's only drugstore, and his mother had been the town's city clerk for years. In history class, Caleb had learned the expr
  12. A short story about two gay teenagers in a small town where being different is frowned on.
  13. I went through a bunch of ideas before settling on that because I wanted something novel. I mean, there are fringe conspiracy groups that actually claim almost anything, including alien and/or demonic lizard people disguising themselves as humans and secretly running the world. But it turns out that shapeshifting sex dragons have been used before.
  14. I will try to answer in a PG-13 kind of way: The conversation involves their saying who they would like to do oral with and also mentions whether a particular kind of hole in seedy bathrooms might leave splinters in one's nether regions. But it doesn't get into details.
  15. I've written a story about two gay teens becoming boyfriends that I'd like to post here. The story has no on-page sex but does feature the boys (both age 16 and still virgins) discussing sexual acts they'd like to try. They do kiss, but that's as far as they go. So my question is whether such frank discussion about sex by characters that are virgins throughout the story would be enough to require the Mature tag, or would Teen be sufficient?
  16. "Jessup Darryl van Huizen, are you out of your goddamn mind!?" Mom's reaction was only to be expected. I had just informed my parents that I wasn't going to college and that my boyfriend and I were planning to become professional poker players. Of course, I'd omitted the fact that we were planning to use our combined superpowers to cheat at poker to the point of committing grand larceny. But even without knowing that tidbit, my parents could hardly be expected to be enthused about my career
  17. Thanks. And the images are PG.
  18. Thanks for the clarification. Would it be allowable to simply put some author's note to effect of "If anyone's wants to see AI-generated images of my characters, here is a link" and then give a link to some site such as postimages.org? I'm gathering that the answer is "no" because it's to a different site. But, just for clarity.
  19. Myr, I believe the latest rule by the US Copyright Office (which has been held up in court) on AI-generated content is that it cannot be copyrighted by anyone, and that for works containing mixes of human and AI content, the human-created portion is copyrightable and the AI portion is not. And, of course, there is the issue of fair use vs. compensation with training the models that has yet to be resolved.
  20. drsawzall, Well, I figured that if I was going to write a story about superpowers, I simply had to have some superpower bottoms.
  21. My stories are human-written, and I'm not interested in reading AI-generated stories. That said, I haven't been able to find what this site's policy is on AI-generated images for stories (e.g., cover or character images). Could someone please give me a link to such a policy or just explain what is and isn't allowed in terms of AI images?
  22. Shawn Clemens had me breathing hard and dripping with sweat. Not in the fun way, though. No, he had me hiking in the forest that bordered the west side of town. We'd taken the batteries out of our phones too. Personally, I thought it was overkill, but it was the only way he was willing to talk about our powers. After we got to a clearing and pitched our tent, Shawn finally opened up. "Have you thought it through?" "Yeah, Shawn, I have. I was hoping to just keep being a meta secret, may

    Preface

Tris, Thanks for the feedback. I started this story by trying to think about what would the world be like if superpowers were real and the public found out about them. Since I didn't think it would be like the usual comic book tropes, I decided to develop my own alternate history/fantasy story. I will give you a background tidbit from my notes that has guided me in writing the story but isn't expressly stated in the story itself because I didn't want to break POV: in this alternate history, Texas never rejoined the Union, and Alaska and Hawaii never became states. Likewise, Cuba had a democratic revolution.

    Origin

Palantir, thanks for the comment. This is the longest work I've ever done, so it's been a challenge for me. I've already written the rough drafts of every chapter, though in polishing them things have to be changed. The first few chapters cover several years, setting up the story world and Jessy and Shawn's characters. Then, of course, things get very serious for them.
