  1. Heh, we're all biased in one form or another; we're opinionated. Sexual attraction before puberty... That particular terminology isn't what I would use, but it is the only thing that comes close to describing the mindset/'emotional state' of pre-pubertal sexual orientation of most children. From what I've read in studies, and some from firsthand knowledge during my own childhood, most children that engage in sexual play do so with either those that they're 'attracted' to or those that they feel the most comfortable with when their curiosities lead them to it. How would they know what gender they were attracted to before puberty? I feel the answer to that is the same as the one to how do they know during or after puberty; they just do. I'm not 100% certain, but, personally, I'd have to say its somewhat instinctual. It probably has a lot to do with what Tony said about it being there from birth. I've also always felt that the 'nuture' aspect has a role in it as well. There are a lot of discussions about the 'Nuture vs. Nature' debate of when someone 'becomes' homosexual. I believe it varies from person to person, some may be all natural, some may be part naturally inclined and then nutured to full homosexuality, whereas others may have been fully nurtured to being homosexual. We are discussing life afterall, so its shades of gray we're speaking in not black and white. Sorry Tony, we've seemingly derailed the original topic...
  2. Sorry, but you're wrong. I knew my sexuality before my teens. I'm not saying that it happens all that often, the way you're implying that pre-teen 'kids' don't know their sexuality, but it does happen. Some children mature faster than others, with or without the onset of puberty. Back to the topic though, I did find it interesting. I knew about some animals being bisexual and homosexual, but never knew that the homosexual aspect was observed in over 1500 species as well as being well-documented in 500 of them.
  3. Um, then where is Ohio categorized? AFAIK, here, its always been part of the Midwest... Just curious. Your Linguistic Profile: 70% General American English 10% Midwestern 5% Dixie 5% Upper Midwestern 5% Yankee What Kind of American English Do You Speak? http://www.blogthings.com/whatkindofameric...doyouspeakquiz/
  4. As far as the copy/paste thing is concerned, I've never had that problem; I, mostly, use the CTRL+C/V method. As to the 'not all audio files are compatible', my standard install of Firefox uses Windows Media Player (for most) and any other installed Windows programs (ie. Quicktime, etc.) for any online audio/video presentations. I've not run into this issue either. As far as I'm concerned, IE is dead; the only browser to use is Firefox.
  5. Yes! I have soooooo...hoped that Kyle would finish this, add to it, etc. Even though I haven't the time, currently, to reread the story; I am most assuredly setting it aside now, so as to refresh the old clockworks. Myr: Let Kyle know his work is appreciated, enough that it might even embarrass him.
  6. Although adoption means, biologically, that the child is not yours, when you raise a child it is still a reflection of you; good or bad. Just a point to ponder...
  7. Most people express any 'input' I usually think of, and if/when they don't rarely do I post. Not for lack of want, rather a lack of motivation in posting... I'm not one for 'forums', in any form. As to feedback for authors (a subject I'm sure will be raised as a point): Being a writer myself, I don't ask for feedback, nor do I necessarily 'want' feedback. I write for myself, not others. I've not posted anything, yet; as the story I'm working on has, for the past year, been in the world-building stage. Also, absolutely nothing will be posted until its completion. That is the reason I don't, under normal circumstances, give feedback. As to sticking around: As long as stories are written and posted to the 'net, I'll be around.

Beyond the multiple viewpoints, I like the draft so far. Staying 1st or 3rd person would be great... Can you tell I'm not good at critiquing?
  9. Everchanging Book of Names, its a great program. Most of the categories are for fantasy/sci-fi names, but there are categories for 'normal' names as well; if you download them from that site.
  10. Ugh, it always seems that when I find a cool scifi story, it never gets finished... I'd love to see Kyle come back and finish it...
