    Chapter 31

I think I said this before... but, I get a real thrill when readers react to my characters. I love it when someone says, "keep up the great writing". But, I get the biggest charge when folks say things like, "Joe for Mayor!!!" Or, "want more of Raymond and Daniel, they been apart way way too long" Those sentiments get me fired up and eager to start the next chapter. Thanks so much. Jim

    Chapter 31

OMG! I forgot! You are right. "John" is in the painting. I think Jeff let part of his teenage masturbation fantasies slip in. Some readers feel he was channeling. Thanks for letting me know. Jim

Yes, a chapter without violence, mayhem, murder and no sex... So, anything is possible in the next chapter. He, he, he Thanks for posting your comments. Jim

    Chapter 31

Well, gee, uh, I, uh, ... thanks for posting your comments. Jim well, at least you didn't ask where the deputy's money came from. Just as well, I don't have an answer for that one either.

    Chapter 31

Daniel was eagerly awaiting Raymond's arrival. While he understood the need for security. Still, he was not fond of having strangers in his home. Especially, the first time he actually had a sleepover with his lover. Plus, he resented the idea, just a little, that he couldn't keep Raymond safe. The lovers had discussed this at length during Raymond's return flight and agreed they would accede to Ilya’s threat assessment. By the time Raymond physically showed up, dinner was well underway. T

    Chapter 30

Good job! I have had emails asking about "John". Miss Julie is probably never going to be asked for those recipes. I think "John" will be an unexplained mystery. It may have been a residual part of one of Jeff's adolescent masturbation fantasies... or it could have been something more esoterical. I will let the reader decide. Thanks for your insightful and encouraging comments. Jim

    Chapter 4

Thanks for posting your comments. I would like to blame my mistakes on a lack of education or autocorrect or old age. The truth is, I am surprised I do as well as I do when it comes to writing. When I am reading other's stories, those mistakes are noticed by me and are at least a slight irritant. So, I do apologize for those. I am glad you are enjoying it. Thanks again, Jim

    Chapter 30

Yeah, for some reason GA wouldn't let me post for a day or so. I reported the problem. I tried the proverbial "one last time" with just the chapter text and it worked. I feel like I had to work too hard to accomplish that task. Writing the chapter was less draining than trying to get it posted. Thanks for posting your comments. Jim

Yes, she seems to draw people in. She could still probably do a fair amount of business if those items made it to the menu. But then, I like hot and sour soup. Thanks for your consistently supportive posts. Jim

    Chapter 30

In writing the "porch" scene, I was aiming for a stimulating response from readers.... While "giggling" is a positive response, sometimes inspired by physical "stimulation", i.e., tickling, it is not quite what I expected. Still, to each his own. Thanks for posting your comments. Jim

    Chapter 30

Yes, I think many readers find that hard to accept. Truth is neither could declaratively state about the other, "No, he likes it this way." That conversation with his boss has taken place. It was only mentioned in passing. There was nothing noteworthy in that conversation. No drama, ominous tones or challenges. Jeff simply stated his intentions, citing his need to be closer to his family. Thanks for posting your comments. Jim

Thanks for posting you comment. I suspect Paul will expect some kind of object lesson each time encounters a poorly prepared meal of anything tasting a little off. Tnanks again, Jim

    Chapter 30

You got it! John is the shorter guy in the painting. I should not have told you until the next chapter. But, I messed up when someone figured out that Raymond was Jeff's brother so. At least I got it straight this time. Thanks poor posting your comment, bus. Jim

    Chapter 30

I think of their budding relationship like starting an exercise program. There is always a lot of pain before you see any real growth... Damn! That was profound! I should have saved that for some Uncle Joe dialogue. As to Chicago, I am glad they had a little spat before the challenges presented by the big city hits them. And no, I don't really know what awaits, but it won't be all fun and games or as simple as "bye y'all". thanks for posting your comments. Jim

    Chapter 30

Haven't heard from GA, so I'm not sure if they fixed anything or if the planets just reconjunctivated. It pisses me off that some folks get immediate "notifications' that I have posted a new chapter and yet I have to scroll through all my stories individual chapters to search for recent comments including ones on this story. No, I just tried the proverbial one more time. It wouldn't let me post a beginning or an end note, but hey I got the chapter posted. enough bitchin, now on with the show. thanks for posting your comments.

    Chapter 30

Getting Maria comfortably settled in at “Grandma” Millie's after the ride, took more time and effort than Jeff had anticipated. Parenting was definitely a learned skill that required patience, understanding, and love, even on the best of days. The anxiety surrounding his possibly tenuous relationship with Paul challenged his need to reassure their daughter that all was well and that her Daddy was at work again, just like before the holidays. By the time he could leave Maria behind without a guil

Yes, it is when we "don't talk" that can often lead to situations where we never talk again. Thanks for posting your comments. Ji
