I found this really interesting! Again, it's a unique premise and, although i don't see why you're worried the characters aren't likeable (maybe a bit untrustworthy or bewildering, but not unlikeable), I don't think it's necessarily a bad thing for readers to have to work up to liking characters. After all, that's the way it usually works with real people...I guess it sounds like the circumstances aren't right for it at the mo, but mine's another yes vote for continuing it when you've got the chance!
