I haven't been able to find this story, although I know it's on nifty.org.
The story is about an older man in England who every now and then hires himself a male prostitute and comes to have feelings for him. Very soon into the story, the prostitute is hurt in an explosion caused by his pimp cooking up drugs and he ends up in the hospital. The one guy takes him home to look after him since his hands are all burned and he can't look after himself at all. They spend christmas together and become very close.
After some time a neighbour boy down the street starts to hang out with them when it is discovered he is gay. There is no sex with the young boy but a very close almost family relationship begins. At one point the father of the boy who is a contractor, helps the couple redesign the attic into an appropriate bedroom for the boy when he stays over as well as for the first guys grandmother/aunt when she stays over.
When the parents of the boy have another baby, the boy stays with the gay couple.
They also go on vacation to...I think majorca...and take the boy with them on vacation.
