  1. Thank you! I'm glad you're still enjoying the story. I like it that my boys retain a certain amount of innocence for a while... Matt, I can reveal, has no such thing. And oh, dear Alan! One of my favourites among my minor characters. I used to hate his guts, but then I wrote a short story about him and now I just get him so completely.
  2. I always read out my dialogue. Always. Which is annoying when I can't do the accents my characters have in their heads, but I think it does wonders for the realism. I love audiobooks. I don't drive, I'm a dedicated pedestrian, and when I walk somewhere I often listen to audiobooks on my iPod. I get a lot of books from Audible. I've listened to all the Harry Potter books as read by Stephen Fry, working my way through The Dresden Files read by James Marsters (who has one of the sexiest voices on the planet and has an uncanny ability to make the most gruesome descriptions of death and destruction sound sensual), A Song of Ice and Fire read by Roy Dotrice, Neil Gaiman's Anansi Boys read by Lenny Henry, American Gods read by that guy whose last name I can't spell, the same in full cast recording, and I could go on, but those are my favourites.
  3. LOVE that gig! Gorgeous! I update daily, so there will be another update later today. This afternoon, my time.
  4. So am I! Thank you!
  5. I'm reading Cloud Atlas by David Mitchell. I have also halfway finished and then put on hold King Rat by China Mieville, Mr. Shivers by Robert Jackson Bennett, Something Wicked This Way Comes by Ray Bradbury and, on audio book, A Dance With Dragons by George R. R. Martin. As you can see, I am also unable to read just one book at a time.
  6. You're also going to enjoy the short story I've written about Alan, I think. And the one I have for Matt, probably.
  7. Yeah, I feel sorry for Nick. I've sort of been in his position. When I was fifteen, I had an older boyfriend. He didn't want to have sex because I was under 16. I was the one who kept pushing for it. He gave in after just a month, though.
  8. When I was in school, that kind of thing happened during spin the bottle. *shrug* Boys didn't often kiss each other, but girls certainly did. I always find it weird how, in movies and TV-shows where they play spin the bottle, it never ever lands on a person of the same sex. It's just so improbable. As for Alan, you're gonna love the short story I have written about him. I'll be posting it once I've finished posting the novel, as it contains spoilers.
  9. Lol! Yes, he is.
  10. CHAPTER ELEVEN Second Sight Dave lay back on the bed with his head in Nick’s lap, listening to the music from the stereo. Nick combed through his hair with his fingers and stroked his cheek, and Dave sighed happily, closing his eyes. It was a Thursday afternoon in late January and they were in Dave’s room, on his bed. His parents wouldn’t be home until late. Nick shifted a bit under him, and then his lips came down to graze his forehead. Dave smiled and lifted his hand up to Ni
  11. I was considering including Craig's dad in this scenario, but since he's not important to the rest of the story I figured it would be one too many new characters. So, I left him out. Maybe he's out with a flu, or maybe he's gone to Spain. Who knows. Glad you're still enjoying the story! Next chapter will be up later today.
  12. I like writing complicated families, I think, probably because my own is fairly messy. Put it this way, I have four brothers and I'm only related to two of them. Though, interestingly, my broken family is probably more functional than Dave or Nick's. Thanks for still reading!
  13. Dave's dad is a very... difficult person. He will not be happy. And Alan is likely to cause problems, whether Nick is right about him or not. Rampant homophobia will do that... Thanks for still reading! <3
  14. Yeah, poor Mellie. Not so easy being her. It would probably have been a bigger problem, had Mel known herself how she and Nick were connected, but neither of them knew until they met and figured it out. In time, Mel will come to love Nick as a friend instead, and the three of them will be thick as thieves, I promise you that.
  15. That's in chapter 4. Thank you! I'm so glad you're enjoying it. I'm actually quite overwhelmed with the reception this story has received... Never felt this popular before, lol!
  16. I didn't mean that she was to start taking blockers at 9, they don't do that anyway, I know. I meant at the onset of puberty. As physically male, that would be around age 12 or 13, possibly 14 if 'he' was a little bit slow. But thanks for the link and the info.
  17. Huh, I don't know, really... The editor just kind of seems to preserve the formatting when I paste it in, didn't occur to me that that might screw with the code of the site... However, you should be able to zoom in with your browser to make text larger. On my mac, I can press command +, and it zooms in. If you're on a PC, the same might be possible with ctrl + or something, but I'm not sure. Oh, don't worry! When did teenaged boys ever rush into anything oh wait hang on nevermind.... Glad you're still reading and enjoying the story. Makes me very happy!
  18. Alan is always a problem, the stubborn git. Thanks for reading!
  19. Dave's got a good head on his shoulders. He can be surprisingly rational. Glad you're still reading!
  20. I thought so. Nick's music is a very important part of his personality. It's important that Dave wants to take part in that. I worried a bit that the bracelet was a bit of a cliché, but I think that turned out well, too. Thanks for commenting!
  21. Well, I update daily. Glad to see you back! <3
  22. I don't think Nick was expecting to get the stuffing beaten out of him when he confronted Craig the first time around. That kind of experience can be very intimidating. Perhaps you should read up a bit on the behavioural patterns of abuse victims, before you start blaming them for keeping quiet...? I'm glad you're enjoying the story! Hope you'll keep reading.
  23. Linda, you mean? Nah, don't worry about her. She's all bark and no bite! I'm glad you're enjoying the story! It's very gratifying to hear. Hope you'll enjoy the rest as much. Thank you for commenting!
  24. CHAPTER TEN Waiting For the Son of Man December arrived with wind and rain, temperatures dropping to a couple of degrees above freezing during the day, though the wind chill made it feel colder and in the mornings the grass would be covered in frost and the puddles would be iced over. Nick and Dave spent time together any chance they got, mostly at Nick’s house. At school, where they could be seen, they behaved the way they always had, occasionally amusing themselves by staging a f
  25. Mel is a sweetheart. She definitely deserves to be loved. As for Dave and Nick coming out, let's just say that day will not be pretty.
