  1. Thank you, and thanks for sticking with the story!
  2. It is not. In some ways, I wish my life had been this interesting. But I'm very pleased thar you find it realistic, and though it's not a true story, there are aspects of it that come from real experiences in my life and in the lives of my friends.
  3. I can be nothing but honoured if you choose to compare me to my namesake. I'm deeply flattered. Thank you for all your kind words!
  4. Thank you so much! I'm glad you're enjoying it, and so, so happy that you find it realistic! Realism is what I'm going for, after all. Cheers!
  5. Thank you so much for sticking with the story! I'm so happy that you've enjoyed it so much, and that you seem pleased with the ending, however bittersweet.
  6. Awesome list, Zombie! I'd like to add that some forms of same-sex marriage have been allowed throughout history on a technicality. In the Middle Ages, for instance, the church technically recognised marriage between a man and a eunuch. Also, some Native American tribes have recognised same-sex unions through the concept of people with two souls, technically a form of transsexuality, where a person of one sex could take on the gender roles of the opposite sex, to the point of marrying a person of the same physical sex as themselves. Out of curiosity, is there anywhere on these forums where one is permitted to discuss politics?
  7. Well, everything has to end some time, but I can promise you that I'm not done with this world yet. There are plenty more stories to tell, and I intend to tell them.
  8. Yay! Thank you! I'm so glad you enjoyed it! Only the epilogue to go now.
  9. Yeah, sorry about that. I accidentally posted them ahead of time. They'll be up later. I'm glad you're enjoying the story so much! I am actually working on a short story collection with a story for each of my supporting characters and antagonists. The ones for Alan and Matt are already complete and will be posted at some point upon completion of this novel. Thank you for reading and reviewing!
  10. Exactly. Couldn't have put it better myself.
  11. If my writing twists your insides and leaves you feeling raw, I'll consider it a job well done. Very thoughtful analysis. It makes me so happy to know that people are getting emotionally invested in these characters. I've been writing them for so long, they've become a part of me and I love them dearly. Thank you for reading, and for your words and thoughts.
  12. Matt is a sweetheart. Love him to bits! Thank you so much for your kind words!
  13. Matt has stated before that he thinks Alan is hot. Poor Alan, it's not so easy being him... Thanks for reading and reviewing!
  14. Matt is one of my favourites too. Jason is pretty awesome. He's sort of the person i wish I was. With the travelling and the activism and the absolutely massive brain. Not to mention the kick-ass motorbike. Love him! Thanks for reviewing once more!
  15. Thank you! Dave's dad is a hard man... It'll probably take a lot for him to come around. He's the very antithesis of Zoë, really, whose love and acceptance knows no bounds.
  16. EPILOGUE Bright Lights Nick stuck his head out the bathroom door. ‘Mel!’ he called down the corridor. ‘Where’s your eyeliner? The black one?’ ‘Why d’you want to know?’ Mel called back. He stepped back inside. ‘Need to borrow it.’ Nick poked through the medicine cabinet. Mascara, lip gloss, three shades of eyeshadow, hand cream . . . but no eyeliner. ‘What’s in it for me, then?’ said a voice behind him, and he turned around a little guiltily. Mel stood in the doorway, ar
  17. CHAPTER EIGHTEEN Speak in Tongues Having Matt for an ally proved to have its benefits. He helped make distractions so they could slip away, provided alibis to Dave’s friends and, on the few occasions the three of them found themselves alone in one place, gave encouragement and moral support. One day, he even got Dave out of football practice so he could sneak off and spend the afternoon at Nick’s house instead. Dave was already there when Nick got home. Nick had been held up by
  18. CHAPTER SEVENTEEN Every You Every Me ‘You fucking queen!’ Three boys had Nick cornered against a brick wall. ‘Think you can come here and walk around and just, like, be gay, and no one will care?’ Nick glared at them defiantly. ‘I should be able to, yes,’ he said. ‘Now fuck off, let me go home.’ ‘What, so you can mince off and keep being a fucking faggot?’ one of them said. Nick cocked his head. ‘What is it you’re afraid of?’ he asked. ‘Really, I’m dying to know. Do you
  19. Poor repressed, closeted Alan! Feel so sorry for him... Glad you enjoyed it. Thank you, as ever, for reviewing!
  20. Awesome! That's exactly the reaction I was looking for!
  21. Congratulations, Minnesota! Welcome to the civilised world.

    The Room

Well, that was certainly a bit of a mind-fuck... I like it!
  23. Actually, there is international law regarding endangered species. It's an agreement called CITES. 173 countries are currently bound by this agreement.
  24. This is bad-ass. Love the subtle changes he made to the lyrics. So, so awesome. Great singer, too!
