    Chapter 10

Wow... An experience like that would put anyone off sex. Poor Dan. I feel for him so much... Just wanna hug him, really.
  2. I've heard the saying, women are doomed to become their mothers and men are doomed to marry theirs. Figuratively speaking. I dunno. My dad passed away when I was eleven, so I'm in the single parent situation. None of my boyfriends have been much like my dad, or my mum. I am, though.
  3. I love quite a few youtube vloggers. I like Troye Sivan, Alex Day, Dan Howell, John and Hank Green and Emily Graslie. EDIT: Oh, almost forgot, Emma Caulfield!

    Alan

It was really interesting while I was posting Nemesis how many people told me that Alan was becoming their favourite character. It made me quite happy, because in many ways he is my favourite as well because he's so deeply human and makes so many stupid mistakes. He's insecure and lashes out, he's a bully, he hurts people... but that's what makes him so real to me. As far as character development goes, he's the one who has changed the most from the first chapter of Nemesis until the last. I hear what you're saying about the fast-paced narrative. In truth, Alan and Matt deserve a whole novel all to themselves. Maybe one day that will happen, but for now this is the best I can do. I'm overflowing with ideas right now, both within the Nemesisverse and outside it. It's kind of doing my head in, actually. Thank you for such a long and thoughtful review! I'm glad you enjoyed the story in spite of its shortcomings, and I'm glad the sex scene worked. I'm always afraid of making them too pornish. I probably read way too much fan fiction...

    Alan

Alan was far too repressed to get to know Matt like this any sooner. Just imagine if he'd agreed to snog Matt back at his birthday party...

I personally think they'll be great for each other, but what would I know, I'm just the author. I really like the two of them as a couple.
  7. Thank you so much for taking the time to read this story! I am honoured and humbled that you've had so many kind words for me, and overjoyed that you've enjoyed it this much. It makes me ridiculously happy to know that people read and enjoy what I write. This story was a long time in the making, and it feels so good that it's faced the success it has. I just posted the first Hubris story today, if you're interested. Alan's story. Thank you, once again, for leaving so many fantastic reviews. You're an absolute star!
  8. Yeah, I know, the B&B thing was a little... eh. But, I'm gonna call it artistic license and let it stand.
  9. The first Hubris story was just posted, actually. Thank you so much for coming on this journey with me and sticking with the story until the end! I am so, so happy that you've enjoyed it this much! You're a star! <3
  10. Thank you, thank you, thank you! You have no idea how much your words mean to me!
  11. Thank you so much for this. I'm glad you feel I got it right. It was probably the most difficult part of the story to write, so I'm so pleased you thought it was good.

    Hubris

This is a collection of short stories about supporting characters and antagonists from my novel Nemesis. It's probably not necessary to read Nemesis to enjoy these, but if you intend to read Nemesis you should probably do so first, as this contains spoilers.

    Alan

Part One: The Nick Problem Alan Bradford sat down under a tree, breathless and angry. He felt betrayed by his best friend. He felt betrayed even though Dave hadn’t known and Alan would never have told him. He couldn’t be certain of whether he had fallen for Nick Davis because he thought he was gay, or whether he had thought Nick was gay because he had fallen for him. Either way, it had been a couple of years now. A couple of years during which he had guiltily imagined Nick almo
  14. I've replaced cutting with biting my arm. Hard to break the skin, but makes nice marks for a little while and hurts a bitch. Somehow feels more constructive and less permanent than the cutting...
  15. I liked Norway, Denmark, Greece and Sweden, personally. Happy with Denmark's win.
  16. My grandmother had breast cancer. She had a mastectomy and only has one breast now. I always thought it looked funny when I saw her in her nighty when I was a kid...
  17. That's sad. I've never been able to understand why people can't discuss matters like politics and religion in a civilised manner. Thanks for your answers!
  18. Thank you for reading and leaving so many thoughtful reviews! Makes me really happy!
  19. Cheers very much, Stephen! Thank you so much for reading. I'm glad you've been enjoying the story.
  20. Thank you for reading and leaving your comments! It's been a pleasure.
  21. Thank you so much! Alan's and Matt's stories are the ones that are finished, so you'll get your wish fairly soon. I think Dave's father was forced to weigh the shame of having a gay son against the shame of disowning said son. He in no way accepted the relationship, he just realised there was nothing he could do about it. Disowning or kicking his son out would have resulted in further scandal, not to mention that he only has the one child and heir. He did the math and grudgingly made a deal with Dave. Writing the epilogue was a lot of fun. Makes me a little sad that I have no plans of writing about their time in Manchester in detail. Part of the reason for that is I really don't know Manchester well enough to place a full length novel there, only been there once. Thank you so much for your thoughtful comments!
  22. Thank you! I've tried very hard to balance the story progression in order to make it believable. I'm glad you feel I've succeeded.
  23. I'll try not to make you wait that long. Lol! i'm so glad you've enjoyed the story. This world is my baby and I intend to nurture it. Thanks for sticking with it and being a star!
  24. Thank you, and thanks for sticking with the story!
