    Maybe the foals are smarter than their parents give them credit for. Chasen knew in the beginning that Marces was leaving them clues so that he could find them. Maybe during the battle with the wizard, they saw Balasamar trying to escape unnoticed and decided to follow, knowing their Papa would find them. They are descended of a strategic battle unicorn and a unicorn that will kill you over his family after all.
