  1. Dan, Another excellent chapter, as always. I'm a little curious about how Davey knows that his memories are going to fade again, and that it will be permanent this time. Regarding your priorities for the future, I have two questions. First, is there any chance you'd want to give us a hint as to what this new story idea is? Probably wishful thinking, I know, but it doesn't hurt to ask. Second, do you plan to write and post all 15 chapters of it before you do anything with DoT, or will you be working on both of them at the same time? I can't wait to see where all of this is going!
  2. It seem like the world is trying to give me a very strong hint that what I said in my original post is correct. CNN Presents this weekend is going to be titled "We Were Warned" and its about what would happen if there were a major oil crisis for the US. I suggest we all watch it to see if CNN agrees with Dan about how things would play out.
  3. I was watching the news yesterday, and saw an interesting poll. It seems that 77% of those polled said they think that there will be a major terrorist attack against the oil supply sometime within the next year. Also, about 80% of people think the world will run out of oil within the next 50 years (and crazily enough, 20% of people think that the world will NEVER run out of oil). Our economy is so completely dependent on oil that if something like a major terrorist attack were to occur on the oil supply, marshall law would probably be about the ONLY way for our country to go on. I'd hope that the world wouldn't end up in nuclear war over it, but I think that is a definite possibility. I was, at one time, a very staunch supporter of gun control laws, mostly because of all the gun crime that occurs. But I've seen a lot of interviews with people in prison for gun laws, and basically nonody who is a career criminal or drug dealer or anything like that goes to a store to buy their guns. They get them all on the black market. Most of them also said that gun laws, including harsh penalties for gun crimes, didn't really deter them at all. What scared them a LOT more was the possibility that the person they were robbing was carrying a gun themselves. I don't really know what to think about all this, but I do know that it scares me, and it scares me a lot. I just hope that my fears turn out to be unwarranted.
  4. Having finished all the available chapters of Dawn of Tears, I have started to get a little paranoid. With the obvious exception of the control abilities, everything in DoT could very conceivably happen in the near future. It's made me start to think that I need to go to survival school and learn how to shoot guns. What do you all think?
  5. I've been reading Dom Luka's stories for a lot longer than I've been reading Dan's stories, though I heard about Dan long before I heard about Dom Luka. My boyfriend first started trying to convince me to read Dawn of Tears almost a year ago, but I was turned off by the idea of reading a Sci-Fi story, since Sci-Fi has never been my thing. It tooka three-day weekend of extreme boredom before he finally convinced me to read Do Over, and its one of the best decisions I've made in a while. Dan's stories are very different from Dom's, but they have one major thing in common- they're amazing. I think we could convince a lot of people over at Dom's forums to give Dan a shot, and they'd probably love us for it.
  6. I just finished all the posted chapters of DoT today, and like DOR, it is AMAZING. I'm not sure how you do it, but you make sci-fi really interesting and entertaining. I really like all the political intrigue that you throw into your stories. Its right up my alley. As much as I want DOR to go on forever, I know that at least when it is done your time will be spent on another admirable work.
  7. Great chapter Dan!!! Work was terrible today (my allergies came out of nowhere and kicked my ass), so a new chapter was a wonderful way to start the weekend. I can't tell you how excited I am to see where this story is going. I hope we'll find out what is going through Papa's head regarding Davie's knowledge of things that no 8 year old should know anything about. SPOILER BELOW I too was very surprised to see Sean in this chapter, but I think that's cool. But it may end up with a lot of drama if Sean falls for Davie before Davie can get back together with Brian. Awesome job!
  8. WARNING: SPOILERS CONTAINED Well I have to say that was completely unexpected. I never thought he'd go all the way back to second grade. I'm very curious to see what his plan is for getting his dad to change professions, and what profession he's going to get him to change to. I'm glad that he's also decided to try to avoid being heavily involved in shaping things, since we all know how much good that has done. It sucks that it is gonna be 5 years before he gets a chance to win Brian over, but I'm sure it will be worth the wait. Good chapter Dan. I can't wait for more!
  9. I don't know what to say other than WOW. I started reading Chapter 1 of Do Over this weekend after my boyfriend got tired of me complaining about being bored. I've never been much of a sci-fi fan, but this story is a HUGE exception to that rule. Every moment when I haven't been at work (and even a few while I was at work) I've been reading this story. It is SOOOOO good! Like Rad, I didn't like DOR as much as DO at first. I am a sucker for a good love story, and that aspect of DOR was lacking a lot at first. But, especially toward the end, as things just got more and more messed up, I just KNEW that he was going to have to go back again. And he has to get Brian back, or else I'll travel back to the 80s myself and kick his ass. Good job Dan. This story rocks.
