I also think that you are brave to do this topic for your essay. I agree that it is a bit of risk but I think it is unlikely that your fellow students would found out what you did your essay on. But I agree with Krista - I think to cover the bases you should include a bit about sexual prejudice based on gender so that it appears you are covering all angles. But that is up to you - it is your essay after all!!
