First, I’m sorry if I caused any trouble on GA. That was never my intention.

No one wants to read about another person’s illness, so I’ll make this brief.
Last Tuesday morning I went to our emergency room due to strong abdominal pains. After a scan, the ER doctor told me I have stage 4 pancreatic cancer; it had already spread to my abdomen wall and into my liver. I’m a realist, and there is only one prognosis – which is obvious. It’s just a matter of how long.

The rest of the week was spent in a larger hospital on a ‘medical campus.’ During that time, I was mostly doped up and out of it. Only when I got home did my friends find and old laptop and connect it to our internet.
I check into the ‘cancer hospital’ of that medical campus on Wednesday morning for a final test and hopefully a realistic appraisal of how much time I have left. It’s the only question that means anything, yet is the one they don’t want to answer. I guess it interferes with their sales pitch or something.

I always thought cancer was something I didn’t have to worry about until I was older, especially this one. But it seems when you’re younger it is more common for it to be discovered in late stages because your body is strong enough to hide any symptoms.

I can only write when I’m in pain. Then I take my knockout drop and fade away. This blog entry was written in Word, over five cycles so I could post it now.

Thanks for all the good wishes sent my way, and thank-you to AC, who takes friendships seriously. OK, that's all I can write right now.

So is it true, after receiving an anonymous $30 million donation, they wanted to rename the George Mason School of Law to honor the recently deceased justice?

And the name chosen was the Antonin Scalia School of Law.

ASSOL or, I suppose, ASSLaw to avoid embarrassment.

Shit! You can't make this stuff up!

I think I mentioned somewhere that 18 Weeks was begun in the middle of September '14 and finished sometime in April '15. I am (obviously) not a writer by profession, but the story just kept pouring out as I wrote all the chapters, every one. Then, of course, the hard part. I must have rewritten the chapters thousands of times, moving stuff around, adding and subtracting characters, etc. I'm sure every writer does this, but I certainly had never written a 250,000 word story before!
Prior to submitting each chapter, I continue rewriting, modifying and changing the emphasis of certain characters. I'm sure that's probably common too. My point in mentioning all this is that I still consider this story unfinished ...a work in progress.
Looking ahead, at the upcoming chapters, I've made a decision. There is sex, and it plays a part in the development of the plot and (possible) resolution of the story. But I have begun excising graphic elements of the sex scenes. I've come to the conclusion they don't belong in this story. With one possible exception, these boys are not professionals and don't have much experience. The sex will still be there, and except for the humor found in some inept fumbling or unexpected discoveries, just not in gory detail.
I hope this is acceptable, and I'm sorry if you don't approve, but I'm resolute about this.

Having experienced a jillion years of Latin , you don't know how difficult it is for me to not use the subjunctive when David and Twoey are describing their points of view. But not too many 15 year old kids use the subjunctive case, at least not since about 500 AD. So I just wince and carry on.
