    1-4 - The Truth

I did, too. It was difficult to write as well.
  2. Many of our lives are paved with thousands of "If Only"s. But such is the journey, devastating at times as it is.

    A Small Pebble

I understand. I'll also understand if you end up stopping partway along the journey for the same reason, but you're welcome here for as long as you'd like to stay.

    1-2 - A Simple Spell

Murphy's Law. Seems to happen a lot with magic. Poor Ethan.

    Chapter 2

Styx was nothing but a shadow to eyes untrained to darkness. Fortunately for Styx he had spent all of his seventeen years in The Shade, the sprawling mass of caverns and holes that lay beneath the city of Pentalus; the den of those who were unwanted in the clean and lighted streets above. His eyes were well accustomed to piercing the darkness, though he did have the edge that many of the Shades had as well. The Shadesight tattoo at the side of his left eye was infused with the blood of a small r

It's great to be seen! I'm glad you're enjoying it.

    Chapter 1

It does seem a bit like playing with fire, doesn't it? Who knows what will come of it? Stay tuned every Saturday and Wednesday to find out. I'm glad. This is the first time it's been released online, but it's been sitting on a shelf for awhile, waiting for me to do something with it. I finally decided posting was the way to go.

    Chapter 1

Then you ought to like this one.

26 chapters of it. Glad you found your way here!

    Chapter 1

And it's always nice to see another one of your comments on one of my stories. I'll be posting a chapter on Saturdays and Wednesdays. If I don't keep that schedule, slap me.

    Chapter 1

    Thank you, my friend.

    Chapter 1

All excellent observations. This was actually my second fantasy novel I ever wrote, but it has sat on a shelf for a long time because I always wanted to smooth it out a bit more and send it to publishers, but I've moved on to other projects so I decided to release it to the public. Hopefully taking a couple years back in style won't detract too much from the plot, heh. The characters are worth paying attention to, I think, as you'll find a great deal hidden in the details. Thanks for reading, as always!

    Shadow Honor

In the depths beneath the Everbright City lies a vast complex of caves known as The Shade. The Underking of the Shade, Salidar thulu'Khant, seeks to free the demons imprisoned in the city above and use them to unseat King Neredos, the immortal ruler of humanity. The future of the world rests in the unwilling hands of young thief and Shade native, Styx, who is thrust into the middle of a conflict which has perpetuated for centuries.

    Chapter 1

Salidar could smell the coming rain. He glanced up to the clouds and cursed. They were beginning to darken, and his mood darkened along with them. Rain was the last thing he wanted. They were close to finishing what his ancestors had started hundreds of years ago, but a little moisture was all it would take to ruin the chalk circle his mages were drawing upon the cobblestones. He would come back if the rain interrupted his plans, but each journey to the city risked his exposure to the Knights of

    Chapter 11

I'm sorry to hear that, but I respect your opinion.
  17. No, definitely not alone. And plenty more to come on all those sides.
  18. You'll have to let me know how it goes when you get to "Fearless". They're technically distinct stories, but "Fearless" is also definitely earlier in the timeline, so I'll be curious to see how it feels to read them in the opposite direction, heh. I knew a guy with that last name, and when I was reaching for something to add to Clint's, that's what fit first.
  19. Perfect! Thank you so much!
  20. I'm currently doing some editing for a friend, and he uses some language I rarely use, and I just realized I'm quite unsure on a capitalization rule. So, obviously you capitalize words like mom/dad when they replace a person's name. Would you do the same thing for something like "little bro"? Would you capitalize just the bro, or would you capitalize both words?

    The Road to Nowhere

I am, actually. This has been a nice month for such things, and I'm sharing them mostly in the hopes that the emotions I'm going through will help others process their own emotional turmoil. That's what poetry has always done for me, anyway. This one was inspired by a song.
  22. We laughed together on the road to nowhere. Your smile lit the way, the only road sign I ever needed. Your eyes on me as much as on the path ahead. Always making sure I was there. As if you feared the inevitable point where our paths would diverge, And you wanted to make sure you froze every moment in your memory. I wonder how often you knew I was watching too? When you looked away, and I could only watch on, Knowing that one day you'd walk

    Shadows of Feathers

It's possible. The wind and I may not be completely done yet. I still dance with his memories often, and I do believe devoutly in reincarnation, heh. (Note: for anyone reading this who thinks I'm anthropomorphizing the wind, I'm just calling a person I once knew 'The wind'. It's not the same thing.)

    Shadows of Feathers

It's written out of a longing for someone life tore from me, actually. Life itself caused me the majority of pain, over a really long process. But getting it out also made me feel better. I thank you for your support.
  25. Someone told me love was like the wings of a bird, To love like the right, to be loved like the left, And here I sit, wings clipped and flightless, My feathers fading to molting sickness, Within a cage of thought and memory, What purpose is there for one bereft Of the wind which made my soul feel free? I've but shadows of feathers now, Nothing to lift me up but the songs I can sing, But who will listen? The birds I loved have
