    Weinachten

Having not seen us for months, my father called the first week of December and offered to have Jan and I stay in Switzerland for the two weeks before the commencement of our second term. We graciously accepted, and he booked a flight for the Friday night before Christmas. After rushing us out the door, having spent the past hour scouring the house for Jan’s misplaced passport, Marie drove us out to John F. Kennedy Airport. With my parents being too occupied with work for us to take vacations, I

    New School

Thanks for pointing out the mistakes (and please tell me if there are any more)! I went to a French (native language)/English/German gymnasium in CH but have been in the US since undergrad (10 years!), and I feel that if you don't use a language, you start to lose it ... I wrote most of the dialogue in English first and then translated into German, but I've fixed most of the mistakes.

    How We Met

Thanks for reading! Now that I think of it, of course it would make sense to have a more romantic selection; Appassionata simply happens to be one of my favourite compositions, especially the third movement.

    New School

The night before school started in September, Jan and I received our schedules, and were pleasantly surprised to find that we shared nearly all of our classes. Certainly, the picture of the fabled world of anatomy, biochemistry, and a coll

Thanks for the review! I probably spend too much time on Tumblr, but this picture really caught my attention.

    How We Met

Merci! I'm not sure why a lot of people think German is difficult, but it's more similar to English than a lot of the romance languages, and perhaps more beautiful.

    First Date

On Saturday morning, I awoke to a strange tingling sensation. I giggled as my body spasmed. "Hör auf mich zu kitzlen!" (Stop tickling me!) "Now I know how to torture you," Jan said, as he wrapped his arms around me in a hug. "And before you try to attack me, just know that I'm not ticklish." "That's unfair! Besides, what are we doing today, anyway?" "I suppose you're not depressed anymore? Well, I don't know the city very well, and I venture to say that you don't either. What say you to expl

    How We Met

It was nearly midnight when I arrived at the George Washington Bridge. I had been walking for nearly two hours from my apartment on the Upper West Side; I had opted for some more time to reflect on my situation. While there remained a constant flow of vehicles parallel to the pedestrian path, it was less likely for someone to notice and attempt to gallantly rescue me from an untimely death. While for legal purposes I resided with my father, he spent the majority of his time in Europe as a partne
