  1. A little slow, but they got there eventually!
  2. Thank you for reading until the end!
  3. The three weeks between New Year’s and Amanda’s wedding in San Francisco were the most difficult three weeks of his life. Bodily, he was in New York, but his mind and his heart were in Toronto, and he felt like he was living in some strange limbo state that he couldn’t wake up from. He forced himself to go through the motions of life, accepted invitations to dinners and parties, drinking too much, and always coming home to crawl into bed wearing the soft red t-shirt he’d stolen from Ryan and tha
  4. I do like subliminal better than manipulative.
  5. They have to stay warm!
  6. Yes to all this! The pieces are slowly falling into place, even if it's too slowly than we'd like!
  7. Thanks!! Yeah, Erik really is stuck in his own head. New York tells people a lie that is really difficult to erase--that one's own significance and worth is tied to whether they can "make it" in the big apple.
  8. Haha, I think Ryan would be mortified to realize the picture with keys is manipulative, but you're right, it could definitely be interpreted that way. Erik is dealing with a a lot of fear, problem is that he doesn't even recognize that he's afraid.
  9. Sometimes it's the people at the top of the food chain who have the most difficult time seeing what's really going on. They're too busy trying to stay at the top to have the right perspective. But fear not! This story has a happy ending and Erik will soon see the error of his ways!
  10. Beautifully put!!
  11. Thank you!!!!
  12. I don't think he understands what's fully at risk. He's thinking about what it says about him whether he can "make it" in New York. He's not thinking about whether he's putting their relationship in jeopardy.
  13. I give you permission to smack some sense into Erik.
  14. Erik is SO stubborn, isn't he? And Ryan apparently has the patience of a saint.
  15. Christmas morning was Erik’s favorite time of year. There was just something about the early winter air, the quiet stillness, and the faint lights of the Christmas tree that heightened the anticipation of something good about to be unveiled. He may have been an adult, but he had always been up first thing on Christmas morning, well before the sun made an appearance and sometimes before his nieces and nephews. This Christmas morning was no different. He blinked his eyes open at 5:30am and
  16. Yep! It is!
  17. Yes, they're going to have to figure things out soon. Not sure how much longer they can keep the long distance working.
  18. Thank you!!
  19. I know!! Erik needs to get his act together already
  20. Haha, I'm just imagining Rachel with a sock in her mouth. She'd keep trying to talk, I think.
  21. She is quite adorable. And meddling sisters have a role to play in all our lives
  22. Funny how children can sometimes be the most reasonable people in the room, huh?
  23. It's a reference to a potential way forward with his relationship with Ryan. If he can secure some job opportunities in Toronto, he'd have no excuse not to move there!
  24. "Hello?" A tentative voice, young and uncertain answered the phone. That definitely wasn’t Ryan. “Chloe?” Erik guessed. “It’s Uncle Erik.” “Hi, Uncle Erik!” The hesitation dissipated into thin air, and Erik could just imagine her bouncing up and down. “Where are you?” “Tell Uncle Erik I’ll be there in a minute!” The phone picked up Ryan’s voice as he shouted from afar. “Uncle Ry says he’ll be here in a minute.” Chloe dutifully reported. “Thanks, sweetie.” Erik sm
  25. Yes, she is quite meddling, but it might just be the push that Ryan and Erik need!
