Thanks so much. I wanted the nice guy to win.

  11. “Come on wake up. We need to go home.” Ben says to Pat. “Ugh where have you been?” Pat asks. “I went for a walk with the kids and then to the pub.” Ben says. “I’d have gone to the pub, why didn’t you call me?” Pat asks. “I needed some space. Come on lets go. Caroline needs to put the kids to bed.” Ben says. “Why do you need space?” Pat asks on the walk home. “Because this last year has been a whirlwind and I’m just catching my breath. I needed to think about everything.” Ben says. “Is thi
  12. “Ben saw Arthur today.” Caroline says at the dinner table. “Really? How is he? He sent me a lovely Christmas card.” Pat’s mum Barbara says. “Okay that is weird.” Pat says. “Why, he always sends a card?” Barbara asks. “He’s Ben’s ex. And you barely knew him.” Pat says. “You brought him to ours many times. He was your closest friend and we considered him part of the family. Don’t re-write history to suit your future.” Barbara says. “You boys need to understand that because you don’t want him
  13. Arthur wakes as usual at 7am and reaches across the bed for Ben. He’s not there. Arthur sighs to himself, wishing he could break the habit but eve after a year he expects Ben to be there. They were together 15 years, he expected him to always be there. But Ben has never been in this bed, never been in this apartment but the urge to reach out is always there. As usual Arthur replays the events in his head. He met Ben and Patrick at an evening class when they were all 23. It was a programming co

    Chapter 1

Thanks. I think this is the only story I've done set in the straight world. In my longer stories the straight characters always end up ruined. It sucks when work impedes on your social life, weekend working just kills friendships. Thanks for reading and for the feedback, Sam
