    Chapter Six

I can see where you guys are coming from in a way but not to the level you are saying. I don't necessarily think that drinking on a Friday night means someone is an alcoholic or a useless drunk. People drink to unwind from life and sure it can go to far and become a problem but I don't believe that these characters are there yet. Most kids in college drink. I've seen it with my own eyes during my college years and the years I've spent in a college town since then. It doesn't make them alcoholics because they can still go through life and live healthy productive lives. Ava and Bryan may not have chosen the best way to deal with their coming out but for some people that's the easiest way to get through that first shock of it. Hopefully you will give them a chance to redeem themselves!

    Chapter Six

The rest of the night was a complete blur. Little moments remembered like flashbacks of a past life but not much else. Claudia arrived. Too many shots were taken. Too many beers chugged. Lots of laughing. Ava trying to flirt without seeming obvious. Dancing. Crying. Then nothing but black. I woke up on the kitchen floor with my good friend Mr. Trashcan still by my side. He was always there for me. Ava and Claudia were passed out on the living room floor together. While the room spun aroun

    Chapter Five

I can respect that opinion. She's rough around the edges so she comes off as kind of mean spirited but it comes from a good place in her heart. Once she opens up a little more herself maybe we can see a different side of her. Thanks for reading and thanks for your insight!

    Chapter Five

“Ugh.” I slowly opened my eyes and found myself in the same spot. Ava was playing on her phone beside me. “What time is it?” Ava jumped. “Shit. Don’t scare me!” “Sorry. Did I pass out?” My phone pulsed in my pocket. My parents knew I was at Ava’s so they wouldn’t text me. Only one other person would be. I was definitely not ready for that. “Yeah, man. I think we went a lil too hard. Even for me.” Ava’s face was red and blotchy still. Mine probably was too. “You ready to tal

    Chapter Four

That's one of the things that got me in trouble when I was younger. Never talking about girls was always what got people guessing.

    Chapter Four

I get what you're saying for sure. My goal was to make it feel rushed because that's how the moment was. It's about getting everything out in the open before you regret what you're saying, just like a lot of coming outs happen. You rush through it before you lose your resolve to tell someone about your true self.

    Chapter Four

As soon as we pulled into Ava’s driveway, she already was racing up the steps to pour shots. “Ava. It’s only 4:30.” “So?” Only I must have thought that was weird. Ava lined the kitchen counter with four shot glasses and pour amber liquid into each of them. It must be a whiskey night. “Cheers, doll.” First one always burnt as it went down. Without pause, Ava thrust the other shot in my hand and kick her own back. Here goes. The shot sloshed around in my mouth before I swallow

Weirdly I actually had a straight friend that would end any disagreement we had with a hug just to let people know things were good. It was definitely odd haha

    Chapter Three

I jumped awake in a cold sweat. Barely able to see anything. The room was pitch black around me. What time was it? 4:36. Ugh. A tiny green light flashed on my phone. Someone had texted me. Probably was Rob again. Rob: Listen man. I’m not mad. I want you to trust me, okay? You can literally talk to me about anything and it’s not going to change us. Anything. Just talk to me, okay? I’ll see you in class. “Goddamn.” I spoke to my empty room as if it might answer me. “What is happeni

    Chapter Two

Mom and Dad were sitting at the table, mumbling about bills and money in hushed tones as I walked in the door. They never liked to talk about finances in front me. Something that scared me. Their money was my ticket out of here. Without our deal I was stuck. What little I saved from serving at the 24/7 would be lucky to buy me groceries for a week. My phone vibrated in my pocket. Probably Rob waiting for his text. It would have to wait a minute. “Hey guys. I’m home.” Mom practical

Walking into my room that night, I found pictures on my nightstand just like the other dance. On top was a bright, green post-it note stuck to the most beautiful picture I had ever seen. I’m so proud of the man you’re becoming. Love, Mom. The moment we walked through the door, Mom snapped the picture. Our backs to her, just the silhouette of our bodies. Hands interlocked. Light streaming out from the dance and a crowd of people facing us with smiles plastered on their faces. I cou

My nerves were at the highest threat level. Nate came over and we got ready together. It was cheesy and cute. I loved every second of it. Mom somehow came through again with an amazing outfit. “You have to look great for your first dance together. This is one for the history books!” Mom was as dramatic as me. It must be where I got it from. “Mom, stop. It’s just a dance. No one has to know anything if we don’t want them to.” Nate hovered off to the side as my Mom fu

    Chapter 1

I'm enjoying Reggie's thoughts as he's writing. Reminds me of myself when I was younger and trying to sort out my feelings with journal writing. The lonely feeling popping into his head right away but him trying to talk himself out of that feeling was like a flashback to my childhood. Very good start!
