I am glad you enjoyed the Scouts part! When I was writing this section, I had a chance encounter with a friend who had a completely different experience than my own negative one in Scouts, so I wanted to reflect that range of influence an organization can have on like individuals. Young love is amazing!

Exactly, young love!! Connor and Jarrod will definitely get the chance to develop their relationship beyond just sex. I find that the stories that take time with relationships and simply enhance what is already there with sex make for the most intriguing reads. I am so glad Connor's youth is coming through! I try my best to write my characters with the nuance they deserve, so it means so much to know that is being picked up on! First love is indeed always special!!

I completely understand! Jazz is one of my favorite genres of music and it is that way for plenty of band kids, so I thought it would be nice to include that in this story. I also understand that Jarrod and Connor might be a little mature for their age. It was difficult for me to write this relationship with the nuance I wanted without the use of sophisticated language and thought. So, I will reference the higher level of maturity throughout the story as a sort of reminder that these two are operating at a slightly different level. Magical was exactly the feeling I was going for! Thank you so much for your thoughts, I truly appreciate it!!

I can understand not liking jazz, music is all about personal preference, but I’m glad it wasn’t too distracting from the rest of the story!! I think you’ll find Jarrod having to constantly check his emotions as he discovers what it means to be in a relationship!

Thank you so much for commenting on this. When writing this story, I struggled with the ethics of bringing these two boys together. Jarrod and Connor both have their unique struggles with self-acceptance, so would it not truly be best if they end up as good gay friends instead of confused lovers? This was a question I thought a lot on, and ultimately I wanted something more for these two. I went into writing this story with the intent of it being romantic, and I hope that I was able to write enough nuance into the story to support that decision. Things will start slow, but they do pick up the pace pretty quickly. Thank you again for writing such a thoughtful comment, I truly appreciate it!
