    On a stealth spacecraft called the Nebularider, a bounty hunter named Golvinte was at the controls. He had been following his quarry around the universe, biding his time and waiting for the right moment to spring his trap, and Golvinte was patient. The Red Star mercenaries had reached out to him after one of their affiliates was the target of an attack.     The Cometskipper and the newly renamed Quasar Queen slipped through hyperspace at a cool 14 light speed. Both starships were invisible to any sort of detection at that rate of travel. Stawren was with Fonith on the Cometskipper, and the three men were together on the Quasar Queen.     Fonith was waiting with Captain Suoki and Froufrou when Lyoth, Phentrom, and Stawren arrived at a location she had given them called the Star Spot Inn.     The trio traveled all day, encountering no other people, and taking breaks from the journey as they needed. Whenever they got hungry, they enjoyed the food that the throuple had provided, and eventually the underground began to darken with the setting of the sun.     The Cometskipper exited hyperspace at the edge of the old white dwarf’s planetary system, the closest landmark in space to where they thought the Ulaa-Lah was headed. Fonith’s ship was still far from the inner planet with the secret military base, but their attention was immediately drawn to the sprawling blackness of the void. Space was in turmoil.     Thanks for suspending disbelief for me! You totally got what i hoped you would as a reader... that the numbers with light speed aren't explained yet, and that "hyperspace" is entered and exited, and also remains unexplained.

    no worries at all, and thank you! i haven't explained what the numbers with "light speed" mean yet, but they are powers of the actual speed of light... when the writing says 10 light speed, it means light speed to the power of 10... which is really quite fast... the characters are also traveling in what they call "hyperspace" but i have not explained yet that it's actually a separate dimension... so yeah, they're traversing the entire known universe and going well beyond single galaxies 🚀 (it all plays into the coming chapters, and also part two of the series)
