Clarke can go after both Ashley and Calvin for his fees, and if they lose, they'll also owe Billy's fees, as well, but we'll just have to wait to see how that plays out in a future chapter....

Clarke has been in effective from the start. He's basically like most lawyers who are just there for the money. I like your idea about the contract, but I wasn't aware that I present Ashley as a rational person who would be willing to share money that she thinks she's owed. Lol

A lawyer who is asking a question can object to an answer if it actually doesn't answer the question (beyond just being evasive) and/or is a snide remark.

I did want some humor to break the tension, but yes, this chapter needed to tie up a lot of loose ends. There are only a few chapters left, with the next one coming out next Saturday.

Ashley is definitely a mix of the real Calvin's worst girlfriends, or at least their worst qualities. And yes, she was using him as much as he was using her, but her ego, like Calvin's, wouldn't let her believe that he'd ever double cross her. As for James and his orientation, you'll just have to keep reading.... No, the neighbor is not a famous bass player, but that is where I got the name. I wanted to use the last name, but considered Christine instead to honor one of the most beautiful voices we lost; however, I will like save that for another time or story.

I've used the line, "You know, for science," to great effect, many times, so I couldn't pass up the opportunity to put in the story. Lol There are several more chapters to go, so we'll see how it all plays out. And yes, the inheritance reveal at last. It was planned before Ashley was introduced, so I'm glad few guessed correctly then dismissed it.

Yes, Ashley's inheritance was planned very early on, so I'm glad everyone convinced themselves the money was coming from elsewhere. I won't comment on Bryan and Kenny's situation, since there are still several more chapters to go before the end, but I'm glad you liked the chapter, nonetheless.

As for the kiss, Kenny can't pull a Rachel and claim to have been on a break, so there's at least that. I like that everyone was onto the inheritance bit, but glad very few people wondered if it was Ashley's then quickly dismissed it. I also made the corrections you noted.

Bryan didn't know how he got there or even when he left school. He found himself sitting quietly, waiting. Adults and older kids walked by without saying anything; they only stared. “Bryan,” a voice gently called to him. Bryan looked up as Trevor knelt down in front of him. “What are you doing here? Aren't you supposed to be at school?” A new stream of tears cascaded down his cheeks, and he collapsed into Trevor's arms. Trevor led Bryan to his office and got the boy a cup of water

I felt the same way about Mike's mom, but have had that feeling from the beginning. Given Mike's inability to read people and situations, I think all of Liam's friends are gay. Liam blushing when John ruffled hair and asking if he should be jealous is enough to convince me.
