Usually, the first person I see at school is Gabe, or Eric, since Carly takes me. But this time, the first person I saw was Zack. He was alone which was a rarity. Today was the first day I could use the car that my parents bought me a while ago. It took a while to get the insurance in order. Zack walked up to Carly and I and looked Carly up and down. Carly did the same looking at him like he was nothing. I finally had enough of the back and forth silence. “Carly could you give us a sec?” I

The next day wasn’t a pretty one. Not only did I have a headache as big as all of California, but out of nowhere, my cell phone started to ring louder than a steam engine. I looked around for my phone. I was in Gabe’s room and in his bed in my underwear. I finally found my phone on the ground with my pants. I struggled to answer it as it was blaring in my ear. I looked at the caller ID. It was my mother. “Rain Ethan Montgomery where in the hell are you? You didn’t come home last night.”

When my dad got home, he said hello to both Mark and Gabe. But I introduced Gabe to my dad as a friend. I knew that then wasn’t the right moment. I was going to wait for dinner. I knew that it was a family matter and doing it while Mark and Gabe were there wasn’t exactly right, but I couldn’t hide anymore. I just couldn’t. So, my mom called for us to go to the table in no time. The deal with Mark and I was shoved under the table. It was a bit awkward, but I tried to just ignore him. We all s

That I night, I got to my first really important homework of the school year; research for history. I was surfing the internet from info, when my mother started screaming my name from down the hall. She sounded angrier than I’d ever heard her. I ran out of my room and down the hall. I followed the screams to the bathroom. My mother was in there hovering over the trash. I knew it. I should’ve flushed the condom. “Y-Yeah mom?” I asked nervously. “I was about to take out the trash and…Why i

After homeroom was English and when I got there, my teach Mr. Miller pulled me aside. Class hadn't started yet so there was maybe two or three people in the class. "Listen, I saw on your record that you were an English tutor at your other school." he said "Yeah," I said. "I was." "Well, since you're in my AP* class, I wanted to know if you would tutor some of the students in my regular class. You‘ll get extra credit." "Um, sure." "I'll be a great way to meet new friends." "Yeah

Gabe and I walked into my house. I took him to the kitchen where there was little to eat or drink. So, I grabbed two bottles of water for us. "Sorry, but this is all we have." I said, tossing him the bottle. "Water's fine," said Gabe. "Let's go. My room's upstairs." I slowly walked upstairs and Gabe followed me. I walked into my room and kicked my shoes off. I walked over to my desk and jumped onto my desk chair, turning on my computer. "You can take yours off if you want." "Th

When we reached the school that was painted in it's colors of red, white, and black, it was full of students of all kinds; black, white, Asian, Latino. They were all dressed pretty preppy. There were some that might be dressed in a sort of hip-hop fashion, and there were actually some people dressed like me, which was a relief. I'm just a jeans and a t-shirt kind of guy. "So, this is Sunset High." said Carly as we walked through the crowd. "We have a championship basketball and football team.

After that day, Zack and I only got closer. We did everything together, never once letting anyone else know what was really happening when the two of us were alone. Though, we never went as far as...having sex. Neither of us were ready for that. But we did have meals with each other's families and one night, my parents invited Zack and his brothers to have dinner with us. This could be interesting. "Isn't it wonderful that Zack and Rain have found each other on this vacation. I was so worri

I set up my x-box as I waited for Zack to get back. If I didn’t occupy myself, I’d end up pacing the room. I didn’t know why I was so anxious to see him again, I just was. I’ve never met anyone like Zack. He’s just so…confident and carefree. I hoped his attitude would rub off on me, especially so I could be confident when I enter my new school in California. When I finished setting my XBOX up, I sat on my bed; impatiently waiting for Zack to return. And when I heard a knock at my door, I shot

When we pulled up to the resort in Hawaii, I knew that this vacation would suck right away. What kind of vacation can a kid have at a resort? Especially a seventeen year old kid. At least at our other vacations I had Jenna, my older sister, to keep me occupied. This time, she couldn't make it. This is going to be the longest two weeks of my life. "Rain, honey, cheer up!" said my mom. "We're on a vacation." Yes, my name is Rain. "Whoopee..." I said sarcastically. It's not that the res

Did you call me – Mother? Your voice dry, your hands callused and bruised from winters past. Do you need me – Mother? Your joints weak, your muscles taut and worn from scorching skies. Do you see hope – Mother? I see your skin in the light, so dry and so dark. It has burned from hours in the midnight sun, heaving and hoeing for the sake of your child; your son. Have you lived – Mother? Your life has been spent digging through dirt and heaving your

I walk the modest five minutes to the bus stop on cracked and gritty sidewalk and I hear the horns and the growl or even the wisp of passing car engines I board the one; towards Lancaster – sit as the vehicle stops at stops one by one, slowly moving through the side streets of west Palmdale which merges into east Lancaster pulling into Lancaster City Park, I wait for the bus to skate into a stop then I get off and wait some

This driving force leaves Me with no good faith. It grinds me into Dust that blows in the Wind of blind chaos. Lost forever in The blank fortunes of Our bleak, dark future. It leaves no soul in My body of ash. It floods the ages. It marks the end of Time as we know it Today. A large sum Of numbers combined. Combined to create Life in this wide world. Life that will be no Longer life, but death. Death of the ages.

I miss the fire in your eyes I miss the bad boy in disguise I miss your kisses at sunrise I miss your element of surprise I miss the color in your cheeks So bright red I could stare in your eyes for weeks Just in bed To say I love you To say I miss you Hold me Kiss me Love me One last time

This world - this template for pain - and for death, drags me from home - from safety from all That’s nice In My own world I - will not - I cannot forget the pain of those who fought- fought to keep this world at peace, who - gave their lives for a greater world I will Fight in Their Honor - their Glory will Live on - their World - their Template Will be Peace Once again

She enters with a cheery “Bonjour!” and a friendly “Comment allez-vous?” She moves with grace through the rows of desks wearing her long skirt and her colorful top “Voila!” she says as she starts the day, holding up some picture of an Object or Person “Qu’est-ce c’est?” she asks and we answer en français “Très bien!” She smiles a wide smile as she energetically moves us closer to joining the francophone world

Tick, Tick, Tick, Tock goes the second hand on the clock. As I lay still on my lumpy, grey cot, a heightened sense of hearing and sight is all I have to keep me aware of what’s going on around and inside me. Tang, Tang, Tang, Ting goes the guard’s night- stick against the titanium bars. I gather my things and I cradle them in my arms, taking in my sense of touch one last time Click, Click, Click, Slide goes the guard’s boots against the off-white linoleum floo

I was a boy; about nine or ten. I asked my mom for a birthday Party, and this is what she said: But we had a party for you last year Don’t you remember? There were balloons in every different Color of the imagination. There were clowns and we ate cotton Candy in blue and pink and even green. But you cried. You were scared of the clowns and The candy gave you a tummy ache. There was a petting zoo And it was filled with animals From all around the world And a giant r

Strangers surround me and I can’t know why. They say that they know me, I don’t know them. They seem familiar, but I can’t put my finger down on it. My head aches from the angst and pressure these strangers have put on my memory. I can only count on the nurse that checks my vitals every five or so hours. I know her name; Deb. Deb’s a nice girl, with hazel green eyes, long curly brown hair, and two small baby boys; Adam and Kyle. I don’t know these so-
