Reflections - 3. Chapter 3

A poem written about one of my passions in life - White Water Rafting

The mist hangs in the air

A cloud masking the rage

Of the demon within the turmoil

At the bottom of the gorge.

Thrill erupts in the mind

The sole begins to feel the beat

Of a heart raging with anticipation

The excitement leaves no retreat.

A team climbs over the rubber

The raft is ready to go

Nine lives pulled together at once

As the boat moves out into the flow.

The water is white, angry and bright

Eyes gleam with ecstasy

Adrenaline breads a frenzy

As nine men make a legacy.

There is no way back

Only forward into oblivion

Onwards we row

Desire has us driven.

And at the close of the day

The experience is vivid

A moment of pure freedom

A feeling unknown to the timid.
