Reflections - 2. Need of Pain

A poem I wrote when thinking about leaving home, a place full of friendships, happiness, memories...
They say three is a crowd

And two is just but a company

No one told us about the feelings

And thoughts that go with this saying.

How often we walk through life

Knocking on the door of love

Looking into windows of warmth

Wishing to be on the inside looking out.

Friendship is a precious moment

Of being accepted and needed

A chance to be part of

Someone’s idea of time well spent.

A companion is one who’s hand

You can hold when the chips are down

One who you can count on

To be near when everything seems far off.

A buddies’s ears are always open

To listen and comment and cry

Around, when life seems to bring

Another period that we spend on our own feeling down.

From one to another and then to a third

Friendships are always changing the heard

Feelings change and times rearrange

The things we forget are not guaranteed.

And so we struggle to keep it cool

Make all sides relax and pull

But beware, tension is there

And happy times may become very sparse.

Thanks Joann. It was something I had to learn quickly when I left Africa, and made me realise how important friendship really is. Thanks for the feedback. :) x

Friendship is so important. I like that you are able to express yourself directly and simply. It takes skill.

Such kind words, means a lot you taking the time to leave a comment buddy. Poetry is something very personal for me, I wasn't even really sure if I should share it, but glad I did. x
