A dragon departs,
Fleeing into the night sky,

To embrace the space
Which holds the secrets of past,
Of present and of future.

Lovely. I'm sure @skinnydragon would be so pleased and honored by your tribute. 

 

It's exciting you are tackling the Tanka in this way. It's a big goal, but you can pace yourself, and please remember the form in Japanese uses the poet's interactions with nature to illustrate inner feelings and thoughts. That's the beauty of the form...
