In spite of the fear - Prologue. Prologue

This is a story I have been wanting to tell, but did not know to whom nor where. After discovering GA it has become clear to me that I have the right audience and the right place.

In April I turned one year after my seventh decade in this world. Four decades were spent working as a clinical psychologist, married and raising three boys. As a whole, life was worth living every second.

After I arrived in my country, Panama, having spent a few years in college in the U.S.and dong graduate work in Spain, I was intrigued by my colleagues referring me clients -- called patients at the time -- who were having difficulties facing their sexual orientation or actual homosexual behavior. As behavior therapy seemed to offer some answers I embarked on a professional mission: To make life better for these young people.

Things went pretty well and with the support of my wife -- who was very concern about the social repercussions of my area of concentration -- I ended being known as the doctor who treated gays. It may have been a value judgment, but I was not concerned.
At the time, my work also included other aspects of clinical sexology that were such as sexual dysfunction therapy. All of this was socially stirring in the mid - 1960s.

How did I end up falling in love with a man, a former patient, sharing a life with him and still maintaining my sanity? This is something that I may find out throughout pouring out my heart and searching through my memory.
This is a task I have to do in spite of fear.
