Goodbye - 1. Goodbye

Goodbye

We’ve never said goodbye
I feel lonely, empty, and lost
Whose fault was that?
Break-up
So sad. I feel guilty for it

I kept my promise, though
We meet again and briefly nod
My smile is vague
I know
How true. This is the final cut

I follow my own path
The bond is dissolved and the sad
Fate reconciled
Goodbye
May you do well, and best of luck

I like this. To me it has a whimsical appeal to it. Subtle. But there. It is like a formal announcement printed on the best kind of paper. This is over, our break up is finalized. Life goes go. Politely, we regret. And then I think of the emotion this covers.

I like your poem, Delores.
