Feeble Attempts at Poetry - 1. Night: Friend or Foe
night wrenches for my eyes,
tomorrow's fear manifest in the abyss
plan upon plan for ill-conceived contingency,
none of use lest all be risked
the pain of the morn' stings the eyes,
last night's dreams dashed with light's cruel reality
rend hope from my soul before I grow content
perpetual uncertainty the only truth
the barren field of noontide burns
singeing the flesh of embodied toil
consume the life within my labor
annul the hopes of shattered intent
i plunge into the the distress of dusk
the tendrils of black snaking about my neck
the regret of consciousness wells up within
drowning my breath and crushing my ambitions
