Feeble Attempts at Poetry - 2. Joy Forbidden

forbidden tear; hidden smile
shun the inkling of half-feeling
buttress the wards against those nearest
project the stoic face demanded
for weakness thrives in emotive drivel
didn't your father teach you that?

sabre of love; hate's halberd
assail the tattered charm of silence
protecting you from the truth of self
numb to the words no longer
will truth be found in feeling finally
or will friends as enemies hold you down?

wordless bond; bondless words
seek the love none has given
risk eternal anguish for a glimpse of meaning
soulmate met soulmate kept soulmate lost
can we transcend the limits of our words
and share as one the forlorn joys of life and death?
