As we end yet another week, we start another month. I can't believe how quickly this year has gone by! For those who haven't noticed, we added another new moderator to the Forum Moderation Team! I'd like to take this opportunity to welcome DynoReads to the FMT, we're happy to have you on board! Now, who's ready to see what happened this week in the GA News blog? As the last Monday of the month, this week included the CSR Discussion Day. Not only were readers able to discuss this month's selection of "The Jacob and Marcus Tales" by Thorn Wilde, but Thorn participated in a live blog chat to personally answer questions that readers might have. We continued our Premium Tuesday highlight with a look at Purpose by Andrew Q Gordon. It got a lot of comments from people who have read it or who want to read it. If you haven't already, check it out and maybe share your thoughts as well! Myr was back on Wednesday with another Tech post. This month he focused on a couple of the upgrades that will be happening with GA Stories. There will be some changes both with publishing and unpublishing stories. Curious? Check it out! It's been a rather busy week at Gay Authors. Before we get to looking over the past week in the Gay Authors News Blog, I'd like to do something a little bit different. I'd like to take this opportunity to welcome Slytherin back to the Forum Moderation Team, we are glad to have you back. We also added another new Moderator and I'd like to welcome MJ85 to the Forum Moderation Team, we are happy to have you join us! Thank you to all the staff who helps to keep Gay Authors running smoothly! Now, onto a look back at what happened in the blog this week. On Monday we took a look at CassieQ's story "Geeks". We had a wonderful review provided to us by Cole Matthews, and based upon the comments, he isn't the only one that is enjoying this "In Process" story. Check out the review and see if maybe this is a story you might like as well! Tuesday we continued looking at our Premium Content with a look at "One Night" by Cia. Premium Content is one of the ways in which GA is funded and stories such as "One Night" are the site's way of saying "Thank You" for the support. On Wednesday we had us a bit of a grammar lesson provided by Cia. She gave us a look at Adverbs at Adjectives and the way that they can help or hurt our writing. Many members commented and shared further examples. It was a rather informative day and I'd encourage everyone to check it out. We had a Thursday post this week in which we announced the promotion of Cole Matthews to Promising Author. If you haven't already done so, stop by the post and leave Cole a comment! We ended the week with two new prompts from the prompt guru Comicfan. One of the prompts carried the tag "Family Announcement" and the other carried the tag of "Bloodsuckers". Hope everyone had a great weekend! It's almost time to start another week, but before we do, we like to take a look back at what happened, just in case you missed anything. Monday started out Signature Week with Comicfan's review of Second Shot by Andrew Q Gordon. For those who haven't already read the story, you can take a quick look at Comicfan's review to see if it's something you might be interested in. For those of you who have already read it, you can see if there's anything you'd like to add to encourage other members to read it! Once again we highlighted another of Premium Stories on Tuesday. This week Premium Tuesday post featured "The Degan Incident" by Signature Author, Rob Colton. "The Degan Incident" is just one of many stories that Gay Authors offers it's Premium Subscribers, to learn more, make sure to check out the Premium Tuesday post! On Wednesday, we went back to learning more about this month's Signature Author Background, Second Shot. Cia interviewed Andrew Q Gordon regarding the story and some of the answers were rather interesting. Want to know the inspiration behind Second Shot? The answer might surprise you, but to find it out, you'll need to visit the Wednesday blog! Last, but certainly not least, Friday brought us two more great prompts from the prompt guru, Comicfan. This week featured a photo prompt and a list of words. Maybe one of the two choices will spark a story idea, but you won't know until you take a glance. Happy Mother's Day to all the Mom's out there, I hope you have a wonderful day! It's hard to believe that it's already May and that many places are starting to see the benefits of Spring. Oh my you people are lucky - you get to have me for two weeks in a row now! I gotta thank Renee for letting me help out, though it also helps her have some extra time to do some other things. And when you look at how busy it is here at the GayAuthors.org News Blog, you can see how the extra time can help. I mean, we started this week with the CSR Discussion Day for Your Alpha, My Mate by Wolfwriter. To kick off the discussion, Cia had a great interview with Wolfwriter about a variety of topics and then quite a few readers asked questions and Wolfwriter was there to answer them. Renee started a new feature - a Tuesday blog article devoted to Premium Stories. Each Tuesday, we'll either feature a new Premium Story or, if the currently posting story has already been featured, we'll feature an existing Premium Story. For this week, as it just started posting, we got a look at Renee's No More Hiding! For Wednesday, we had a feature about the Author Promotion Team (APT), what they do and how they need help. A great behind the scenes look at this team and their work! Then with the change of months and the start of May, we have our new May Signature Author Background - Andrew Q Gordon's Second Shot. This is my last chance to play with the GayAuthors News Blog before Renee comes back and takes over again - so, let's make it good. We were saddened to start our week learning of the passing of GhostRyder15, one of GayAuthors' original Hosted Authors. In honor of his memory, we took a look at a recent story review that had been done of his Kombat Kids story. Wednesday, we had the humorously titled, but VERY informative Cia's Torturing Me! This was a great look at GayAuthors' posting system, and how to correctly navigate it. There have been sometimes where an author make a mistake that causes Cia to have to alert them to some issue - and thus the title of the blog article. Based on the comments - and this one generated a TON of comments - most authors really appreciate all the time and effort that Cia puts in to help them out and I couldn't agree more. And as we do every Friday, we got to enjoy and see two new prompts from our great prompt-guru comicfan! Additionally, we took at a great response to one of last week's prompts. Ron took a first line prompt, and used it to continue exploring a character he created in a previous prompt response. I highly recommend the read of these. ANNOUNCEMENT: I have extended the submission deadline for the 2014 Poetry Anthology: A Storm Is Coming. The new deadline is April 18th. Please have all submissions in no later than 11:59 P.M. EST on April 18th. I'm leaving the following week for vacation and will need to put together the Double Check list before I leave. Now, let's see what happened this week in the Gay Author's News Blog!!! On Monday, we learned that this month's CSR Book Club selection is going to be "Your Alpha, My Mate" by Wolfwriter. At just over 81,000 words it's a bit of a long read, so if you haven't started yet and are hoping to take part in the discussion at the end of the month, you'd better get reading!!! Wednesday we took a look at how to review for the blog. I also announced that I would like to put together a "Blog Review Team" as well as what I'm looking for. If you'd like more information, or think you might be interested, then please send me a PM. Thursday we announced an addition to the ranks of Promising Author. Thorn Wilde has been promoted and is now our newest Promising Author. If you haven't already done so, drop on by the blog entry and offer your congratulations! I'm running a bit behind with this weeks Weekly Wrap Up as I kind of fell asleep on the couch, but here it is none the less. I hope everyone is having a fantastic week. It's time for our weekly look back at what happened in the GA News Blog, which is a great way to see what you might have missed! On Monday Louis (LJH) provided us with a review of "Roommates" by Signature Author: Krista. He thoroughly enjoyed the story and if the other comments are anything to go by, so did some of the other readers. Also, it looks to me like his review even drew a new reader to the story, that's always a great thing and one of our purposes of the Feature Monday's! Last month we featured the Promising Authors in the first part of a two part series. On Wednesday we featured the Signature Authors in Best/Worst Part II. I asked Signature Authors to share with us one of their harshest reviews and one of their best and to also share how they were affected. It's been another very busy week in the Gay Authors News Blog! I hope everyone had a great week and a wonderful weekend, so let's recap what happened this past week. On Monday, we started out Signature Week with Lisa's review of "Into the Deep" by Signature Author: CassieQ. If you're looking for a new story and haven't already read "Into the Deep" you can check out the review and see if Cassie's story is for you! Since "Into the Deep" is a fantasy story, on Wednesday, Cassie joined us to share some of her tips on writing fantasy. She also encouraged everyone to share their own thoughts. There were a lot of great suggestions so, whether you're new to writing fantasy or have already done so, check it out and if you have any thoughts on what makes a fantasy story good, share them! Thursday we announced the promotion of Graeme, a long time author and staff member, to Signature Author. I hope everyone had a great week! It's been a busy week at the Gay Authors news blog, but first things first. Thank you to everyone who voted in the 2013 Gay Authors Reader's Choice Awards. I hope everyone got their votes in since voting ended yesterday and the polls are closed. On Monday we featured a review that Comicfan did on the story "Burden of Secrets" by Cia. "Burden of Secrets" is one of the many stories that can be found in the premium section. If you want more information on either this wonderful story or on the cost of a Premium membership, make sure to visit the Monday blog! Also, I'm always looking for new reviews of the blog. If you've read a story that you'd like to see featured in the blog, send me a PM! Many seemed to love the Wacky Wednesday post, in which some of GA's Promising Author's shared some of their best compliments and harshest criticisms. So, a few things happening this week around Gay Authors. For those who haven't noticed, voting has opened for the 2013 Gay Authors Readers Choice Awards. To find out more on how to vote, make sure to visit the thread. February 22, 2014 is the last day to vote, so make sure to get your votes in before then! Happy Super Bowl Sunday to everyone who will be watching the game! I can't believe that it's already February, it seems like this year has just flown by so far. The nomination phase of the 2013 Gay Authors Readers Choice Awards is over. I hope everyone got in their nominations before they ended at 12:00 am EST time this morning. Now, lets see what happened in the GA News Blog this week! We started the week with the CSR Discussion on Totallyy's collection of short stories, complete with an interview and a live Q & A session. There were lots of different questions asked and it was a lively day on the blog. It's well worth a look, so if you haven't already done so, give it a glance, or two. It seemed like a week for interviews. On Wednesday we continued with an interview with Hosted Author: CassieQ as well as a Blog Chat. Not only did Cassie talk about her stories and writing, but she also talked about what inspired her to write certain stories. It was really quite informative and I even asked her what was something about her that people might be surprised to find out. If your curious about her answer, check out the blog! I can't believe it's already Sunday. I don't know about everybody else, but this week has just seemed to go by so quickly and it's hard to believe that January is almost over already. Lost happened this week in the Gay Authors News Blog, so lets have a little recap! On Monday Louis was kind enough to supply us with a review of "No Room In The Lodge" by Joann414. Based on the comments, many other readers also thoroughly enjoyed the story. If you haven't already checked out Louis' review, I suggest you do so. You might just find out that you'd like to add Jo Ann's story on your "To Read" list! Wednesday provided a bit of a sneak peek into a major feature in the upcoming Stories 2.0. Myr presented us with a look into what will be coming in the form of what is currently being called Story Awards. From the sounds of it, it should really streamline the awards process and will make it easier than ever for readers to nominate their favorite stories. It's been another busy week here at Gay Authors! Before I get started with the Weekly Wrap Up, I have a couple of announcements to make. ANNOUNCEMENT: Myr is looking for volunteers for a User Interface Team. If you are interested in becoming more involved with Gay Authors, then this might be something you would be interested in. It is an open opportunity and could lead to further involvement on other GA teams. If this sounds like something you might be interested in, then please check out the forum thread. ANNOUNCEMENT: It's time for the Readers Choice Awards! Nominations for the 2013 Readers Choice Awards started on January 12th and will continue until 12:00 AM EST on February 2, 2014. For more information on how to nominate your favorite stories from 2013 and what makes a story eligible, check out the forum thread. This week was our first Hosted Week here at the GA News Blog. Mann Ramblings provided us a review on "Prophecy" by Hosted Author: Comicfan. Prophecy was one of the many stories from the 2013 Winter Anthology: Recipe For Disaster. This was a great review and one thing that it seemed everyone agreed on was that they wanted more of the story and hoped that Comicfan would decide to eventually continue the story. I did get a chuckle at the end of Mann's review and I'm sure you will too. Want to read the review? Check out Monday's blog entry! We continued the Hosted Week with an interview with Comicfan on his story Prophecy. I think my favorite answer during the interview was his reply to whether or not he was happy with the way the story turned out or if there were things he'd like to change. Curious as to why that's my favorite answer? I'll give you a hint, it directly correlates to the end of Mann's review from Monday! Check it out and it might just answer some questions you had about the story as well! Friday saw two new prompts from Comicfan. One was a new "first line" prompt and the other one had the tag of "the devil's deal". Both could provide some interesting stories and I'm curious to see who all will take up the prompts and who will be featured next week. This week, we featured a prompt response by Kitt. What a week it's been at the Gay Authors News Blog! Now it's time for the Weekly Recap!! Enjoy! We started out the week with the first CSR Book Club Announcement of 2014! The January book club selection is comprised of, if I counted correctly, 13 short stories by Totallyy. You can read any or all, it's entirely up to you. Whatever you decide, don't forget to join in the discussion that will be taking place on January 27th! Wednesday started out with a bit of a prank by Cia. She then went on to discuss using "fifty cent" words and "nickel words" in writing and how their usage can change the tone of a person's writing. This week both said good-bye to 2013 and welcomed in 2014. I hope everyone had a safe and happy New Year. Now let's take a look at what happened this week in the Gay Authors News Blog! As the last post of 2013 we had the CSR Discussion for Cia's story Bonds Unbroken. I sent Cia a list of interview questions which she answered in depth and posted for the discussion day, but after that, it was up to the readers to share their thoughts on the first story in the Carthera Takeover series. If you want to know why the characters are known as Carthera, or maybe how she chooses the characters animal side, check out the interview. Cia answer's these questions and more! Wednesday we started the New Year off with a bang by featuring our first Ask An Author of 2014! Dark had some great questions for Cia, Riley Jericho, and Thomas Nealy. These features are always great as they give us insight into the minds of some of the awesome authors here at Gay Authors. Curious as to what the questions were and how the authors replied? Comicfan finished out the week for us with two new prompts, but he added a new twist to them. Not only did he go with a first line prompt of "Here we go again" but he also added a new type of prompt. What a way to end (well, almost end) the year. We had a great week here at the GayAuthors.org News Blog. The week started with a wonderful project that Renee initiated - a round of reviews of the stories that made up our past 2004 Winter Anthology: Christmas. These now classic stories - seeing these reviews make these stories shine with new life. Daithi, aditus, podiumdavis, crazyfish, Lisa, LJH and Ron were the reviewers and we thank them so much for their time and efforts in completing this great project! We had a great Christmas with a new Tech Blog 2 - What's Coming, where Myr gave us a new update on upcoming new features, notably "Reading Lists". Based on the comments, I am not the only one to be excited about this upcoming change. We ended the week on a great note with two new Prompts from comicfan. I can see a lot of great "New Years" stories being generated from either of these two prompts and look forward to seeing what comes from the community. Once again it was a busy week here at Gay Authors. A lot of things have been going on behind the scenes as the staff worked to get the Anthology ready to go live, but we made it. The 2013 Winter Anthology: Recipe for Disaster went live on Thursday. I hope everyone found the stories enjoyable! Now, let's look at what happened in the blog this week! We started out the week with a review of "So Little Magic Left" by Promising Author: Mann Ramblings. This story is an "In Process" story but is already over 50,000 words with just 11 chapters. If your not already reading it and want to know a little more about the story before deciding whether or not to start reading, check out the review! Cia took over the blog on Wednesday to give a look into a new idea to help promote the Hosted Authors. She even provided an example of what she's planning to do and asked for feedback from the community. Curious as to what she's planning? Check it out and don't forget to give your thoughts! We skipped the prompts this week to announce the release of the 2013 Winter Anthology: Recipe for Disaster on Thursday!
